Congratulations to KurisuMurei, our July Member of the Month! Despite being an older member of Shadowside, Kurisu is still quite an elusive character. However, he is quite prolific and well-known, if not infamous, for his dry wit writing style and willingness to share his thoughts on any question. Let's see if we can shed a little light on the mind and mystery that is Kurisu. :D
- The Interview By Nami
-
-What brought you to Shadowside? I came here with a whole bunch of other members from a Final Fantasy 7-themed board named Children of Crisis.
-Tell us about yourself. What are your hobbies, interests, likes and dislikes? For hobbies and interests, it's all about computers, video games (especially fighting games, role-playing games, strategy games, and sports games,) and things like that. I occasionally delve into the realm of programming, and hope to find some way to make a living out of it, but there's not that much room in my country's job market for everyone with similar ambitions. Dislikes...aside from those of a children's perspective (hated foods and such), not too much I can think of at the moment.
-As a writer and a roleplayer, do you feel that you have improved as writer since you started? Has Shadowside helped you in improvement? Definitely. Very much so. Though most of the development came between roleplaying in non-dedicated forums and coming to Shadowside. It's strange how I learned how to be a good roleplayer by following the tracks of a bad one.
-What was the inspiration or motive behind the creation of your character, Chris Murray? Way back when I first created him, I was getting into tabletop gaming, more specificly, Dungeons and Dragons. That had been a bit of a inspiration.
-Has your character developed in ways you expected or had not expected? Chris took a lot of his development from his experiences, quite honestly, so the other players and NPCs had a significant effect on that.
-Do you have plans to have a second or multiple characters? I do have some character ideas in my head, but I'm not sure how well I can bring those to life.
-What do you have planned, RP-wise? Are you looking forward to anything in particular about Shadowside? I don't really have any major plans yet, at least nothing that I can make a good storyline out of. However, I do plan to use some of the stuff earned during Postorama for at least a little bit of RP fun.
-Have you got any advice for new members? A couple of things: First, and this could apply to experienced members as well, remember that this is not meant to be a matter of real world life or death. It's just a game, so don't take things too seriously. Just because a character has strong feelings regarding another character doesn't mean that their players share these exact same feelings. Second, don't let other players pressure you into going too far beyond what you're comfortable with, whether it's in post content, post size, or posting rate. However, it's okay to slowly build yourself up. Think of it like any physical exercise: If you're just starting out, don't expect to be able to do as much as someone who's done it on a regular basis for years, but do set goals and work your way up. Just don't overwork yourself. Finally, don't worry about getting it right the first time when it comes to enrolling a character. The staff is there to help you along the way.
