Fighting. Competition. Man against Man. No fancy colors, no fancy intro, no beating around the bush. This is a fight. Why have characters with "balanced" and sometimes limited powers if most of the time they're used against NPCs or characters we are meant to beat almost every time? Talk in chat about what so and so would do if he ever got into it with you know who...well let's make that a reality! Posters and flyers have been popping up all over the Twin Campus, prodding the school's inhabitants to test their mettle and give it their all in a totally safe, yet "real" arena against their EVO and MAGI brethren. The poster talks about cutting edge technology and magic combined once again to give fighters a chance to tear into their opponents all out without causing real pain to each other. Sign ups talk about different ranks for different fighters, an area for spectators to watch a good, clean fight. Ever wonder just how strong you stand compared to your super powered allies? Time to find out. Powers? Permitted. Weapons? Sharp as ever. Rules? Order? Referees? All there, the entire tournament has been set up not only to test oneself against others, but as entertainment, and maybe even a way to open once closed doors. We've all been there, we've all probably had combat threads against another PC in which someone didn't want to lose, and it caused all sorts of problems. Well I feel like Shadowside as a community is more mature than to let petty squabbles like that break out. But on the off chance, the entire tournament will have an IC judge and referee, and any match that lasts for an extended period of time will be called and the winner will be chosen based on IC and OOC facts by yours truly. Worried about getting stomped by characters who have been around the block more and have tons more credits? Don't, with enough people there should be different ranks depending on Credits spent. So don't worry, characters with 90 credits wont be pitted against your character with 0. This is for both for fun and a way to test out your character's abilities. It's not a contest, the winners will get nothing more than IN CHARACTER recognition and the feeling that comes with beating his friends into the ground. People who refuse to lose or don't have fun losing a fight should not enter (OOC wise). The "mechanics" are quite simple. Characters will use a machine much like the bushido chambers to enter an "alternate reality" of sorts. Characters will fight, bleed, run out of stamina, and THINK like their "real" counterparts, the only difference is after the fight, the combatants step out of their respective chambers without a scratch on them. The goal is to get at least 20 or so characters in on this so it's more than a few people slugging it out. That would create a very "dull" tournament in my mind. All characters are welcome, though it is COMBAT oriented so characters who can't fight in any way, shape, or form might want to stray away from this one. Spectators are allowed as well though, I bring to you guys a system I thought up in my head to help everyone have a good time with this SL. Combatants will be in a thread of their own. One on one with no distractions. They will not see or hear the crowd watching the fights worldwide. The only thing they will see or hear aside from their opponent is the referee. For the spectators, a separate thread is set up specifically for spectating, here the fights will be given a run down as it happens. This allows the combatants to post however much they want without distractions or post order being clogged by spectators. As for the spectators, they will be given a play by play by an announcer, but there is a large monitor to VIEW the fights themselves, so they can read the fights OOC and react to them IC with the announcer just adding flavor here and there. I hope to have at least 2-3 different divisions, but if enough people sign up I might run a 2v2 team fight or something similar. If you're interested in fighting, simply list your character here with a link to their page, or have it in your signature. For spectators, just list the characters name and denote that they don't plan to fight, just spectate. Will, do you mind linking your characters so I can check their page so I can try and set everything up correctly? So far, it wont be much of a "tournament" but more of a bunch of different fights. Luckily, the biggest "gap" in credits spend SO FAR is only 20, so every match so far is pretty evenly matched. Could ALWAYS use more of every type, no matter if you're support or someone with tons of credits spent and only a few credits pushed into offensive powers. |

The intro shows you the rules and the background of the tournament, please read as it also contains some rules for the tournament as well as flavor text and background information. Threads containing the fights will be PM'd to the fighters, but will all take place in hakata port. |
