Full Description Probably the most prominent feature you'd notice of Kale would be his sharp green hair. Of course, there's a rest of the male to see, but his medium locks tend to draw people's attention from their abnormality. They aren't natural, and he'll never tell you they are. Unlike others graced with various hair colors by the Dawn, Kale chose to dye his hair long before he was realized he was evotelluric. While he may never tell you his actual hair color, it definitely isn't Green.
Follicular foils aside, Kale possess a soft blue pair of eyes, likened often to the look of a shallow pond. Easy to see right beneath the surface, in more ways than one, the male's expressive face is often easy to read. Part of feeling the emotions of those around you plays back into being so open yourself. It helps keep his soft features seeming friendly, and open to match the male they go to.
Kale stands at six feet, and slender. He's not muscular in the slightest, in fact the boy is rather lacking in muscle. He’s never been one for sports, and his form reflects it. Just an average teenage boy, though his body does bear a few strange markings that definitely weren’t tattoos. Portions of his arms and back are darker than the rest of his skin, like a partial tan, but Kale just ignores these. It’s easier to have a long sleeve shirt than it is to investigate something like that.
Speaking of shirts, Kale happens to be fond of the school uniform. While he doesn’t wear it all the time, a good majority of his time around campus will find him in either the school uniform, or shirts having to do with ERIS. He has a few he particularly likes…and doesn’t really try to hide his connection to ERIS, even better if students ask him about it. | Photographs |

Personality Kale’s personality isn’t hard to define. If you spend ten minutes with the boy, you’d have a very good grasp on it. He’s extremely idealistic to a fault, believing the world to not be shades of grey, but rather black and white, and will always stand for the greater good no matter the cost. Kale’s goal in life is to help everyone. He doesn’t care to elaborate on it…that’s all he needs.
Some may say he has a hero complex, but he can’t stand to see someone in need. He’ll always rush to their defense, their aid, whatever they need, and never hesitates to jump into the fray. Despite the fact that he can’t defend himself, that’s never stopped him from throwing himself in harm’s way for the sake of another, which has earned him more than a few bruises and days in the hospital.
Still, he’s never stopped. To say he is naive would be true, but that’s not to show a lack of intellect. Kale can be just as bright as anyone else, though in truth, the real cause for his refusal to accept that there are people he cannot save, is delusion. Kale refuses to believe he can’t save everyone he sees, and won’t accept it. Regardless, he is a bright young man, and while he doesn’t get perfect marks, he does well enough to pass with honors.
To everyone else, he likely seems carefree, happy, independent. Always willing to lend an ear, and to help, even to strangers. Friendly, outgoing, Kale is the kind of person you’d hope to meet. He’s quick to form bonds, and will defend them to his last breath if necessary, and a bit of a martyr complex, though he refuses to die needlessly if everyone involved can be saved. He’s the poster child of good intentions. It’s a shame he won’t get to keep them. |

| [Hometown:] | [Parents:] | [Siblings:] | | Nakamura Ward, Nagoya, Japan | Emiko Nagelfar, Richard Nagelfar | Reya Nagelfar |
Early Life People questioned what Emiko Senda was doing when she began a long relationship with Richard Nagelfar. The man was a foreigner, for one, but also of the louder sort. The two were clearly in love, regardless of what her peers thought, and the man had made quite the strong impression on her father and mother, with his strong values and devotion to their daughter. Richard had come to Japan on business, but falling in love with the island, and then with Emiko, he remained. The two were married two years before Kale was born.
Richard worked at a design firm as a consultant, while his mother had been a homemaker, being around Richard led her to pursue a job of her own, breaking her family’s personal tradition, and she pursued a higher education, eventually becoming a schoolteacher at the local elementary. They always donated their time to the community, and took pride in helping others even at their own expense. While people were reluctant to accept help from Richard, it was often Emiko who talked them into it.
When the Dawn hit, the whole world felt it, and the Nagelfar were no exception. Kale’s little sister, two years younger than him, Reya, manifested evotelluric. An empath, she recoiled from the world around her, unable to take the strain of feeling so many people, so many emotions beside her own. For the first year, she withdrew from school, from life, while the chaos around the world took it’s course. Kale spent most of his free time trying to care for his sister. Someone familiar to her helped ease the strain…and it wasn’t as though she wasn’t used to Kale’s emotions. Her lovable big brother was rather transparent, after all.
As time progressed, she grew to be able to ‘shut herself off’ from the new sensations…but she refused to attend the campuses that opened up, refused to admit too much what she was. She could control it. Hide it. There wasn’t any need to let everyone know that she was evotelluric…The family had told the community that she had fallen ill, likely due to an attack on the Dawn. Some questioned the story, but they let it slide in the end. Now, Reya returned to school, and finished her studies…And Kale? Well…No one expected anything like that from him.
When ERIS formed, though, his parents took an acute interest. It fell in line with what they did regardless, and past that, to assist people in coming to terms with Evotellurics like their daughter…How could they really refuse? They volunteered at the Japanese chapter, and have worked with ERIS for years. Emiko, however, didn't just stay with the Japan chapter, and progressed to running the chapter for a year, before being brought on to the Council, holding a seat today, though living in Japan to do her work. Kale assisted when he wasn’t busy with his sister, or his studies…and took just as much a liking to helping others, training under his mother who had become a first responder in that time frame. | Himejima Island to Azura I was there.
When the rain and the fire came, when the water overtook the land. I was there. I was working with Miss Konno, and mom, and dad. We were…Helping. Mom was working with the medical team, and dad was running supplies. I was helping with mom when it happened.
At first there was…nothing really different. But then the feedback started in. It felt like there was a lot of…other people really close to me. Not speaking to me, just around me, you know? Mom had be applying pressure to one of the guy’s legs, he’d been caught under a steel girder when it collapsed. But as I held to staunch the bleeding…it didn’t just stop bleeding. When we took the cloth off to treat the wound proper, there wasn’t a wound there to treat.
Mom looked at me…we chalked it up to stress, and moved on to the next person. But it didn’t stop happening. When we focused on someone…the wounds under my hands just…started to fade. Like they were being healed in fast motion, weeks, months, in a matter of moments. It scared me…and, well, when mom realized it was me, it scared her too. But this was a crisis situation…she told me to be careful to hide what was going on, but we couldn’t afford to stop. She started directing me to the larger victims, the ones who needed more intensive care.
Neither one of us noticed how much I’d started sweating. The world started swimming after the fifth person…and I wasn’t sure I’d be able to walk to the next. I remember calling out to mom…trying to take a step…and then…nothing. My head went blank, and later mom told me I collapsed. She panicked…and the nurses panicked, and they carried me to one of the few spare bed there were, to rest. When we moved to the new facility, mom and dad carried me over on the cot.
I really don’t remember the rest of the day…but…I remember so much fear. And pain. And hate. And rage…and…all these emotions swimming, faster, and faster, and…
We enrolled me into Azura a month later. We did some tests at home…but there wasn’t any mistake. I was evotelluric, just like Reya. I was even partially an empath too…so Sis and I talked a lot in that time. What to do. What not to do. I tried to convince her to come with me, but…Well, she still wasn’t ready to face the world as what she was. I’ll talk to her in the meantime…but…
Time for me to start my own little story. |

| [School to Attend:] | [Years in Attendance:] | | Azura | 1 | | [Designation:] | [Secondary Designation:] | Healing Hands Kale's powers revolve around the latent evotelluric abilities granted to him by the Dawn to assist and help people through the power of his hands. In this case, relating solely to the healing abilities of being able to reknit flesh and seal wounds, healing injuries in moments, and not to his body's other abilities with his hands. | N/A |

[anchor]Powers[/anchor]| Powers |
|---|
Empathy Powerset Minor Empathy Minor in range and in scope, Kale’s empathy is rather infantile in nature. It is easiest likened to Surface level empathy, in that he can only read the surface level of thoughts, not what a person is really feeling underneath. For example, if someone is pissed off to hide how hurt they are, he will only pick up them being pissed off. If they’re laughing when they’re really sad, he’ll only get the happiness they’re faking. The outward emotions someone is projecting, is all this ability picks up. What’s more, is that it only has a range of 15 meters, making it only available in close range. On the downside, this ability is always on, and in excessive crowds, it hampers and obliterates Kale’s ability to think, unable to sort with all the conflicting emotions. A crowd in terms of removing his ability to process information, is fifteen people within his range. He can function at this level, but is unable to be truly cognitive. At twenty, a tight crowd, he will slowly start to lose consciousness over a few minutes as his mind is overwhelmed. Neuropathy Powerset Pain Sensation In brief, this power allows Kale, through physical contact with his hands alone, to manipulate the nerve endings of a target to induce phantom pain without any damage. The subject feels as though they are in pain, but their physical body lacks any signs of damage, not even a scratch. They may experience an adrenaline rush as a side effect, but all this ability does is ‘trick’ the target’s brain into thinking they’re hurting.
How it works, is by interacting with the nerve endings in the area Kale touches, he sends signals back to the brain as though the area manipulated had just been attacked. The type of pain is interchangeable by Kale, but the end result is pretty much the same, whether it be burning, blunt impact, slashing, a piercing sensation, etc. As long as Kale’s hands are on the target, the sensation that they’re in pain is unmistakeable.
The severity of the pain is enough to cause the target grief, but will never be enough to send the target into shock, overload their mind, or cause them to pass out. In fact, the pain simulated from the power directly in their mind seems to counteract this by keeping them awake to experience it. Obviously, this power cannot work if Kale cannot maintain contact with his hands on the target, and given the target will be in pain, it’s unlikely they’ll stick around to be hurt.
It’s a given that anyone with a complex nerve system, altered, lacking in the ability to feel pain, or with a heightened pain tolerance will either feel diminished returns, or none at all, pending the situation given and the abilities on the character themselves. In these scenarios, it will be wholly up to the target’s player to decide what resolves, given their defenses in the matter. This ability acts as an illusion, but is not, given it’s tricking the body on a neural level—The body is convinced this is real, regardless of what the mind tells it. As such, illusory defenses won’t work on this power.
As for the capabilities of this power, Kale has to make the conscious decision to use it, or his body has to respond to danger in a way to allow him to use it, even if his mind is not focused on harming the target—Example, being attacked. Kale’s reflexes might initiate this power without him deciding to hurt someone, as he abhors hurting others. In either case, if Kale can’t think, or react (drugs, opposing powers, being knocked out, exhaustion), this power cannot initiate. In regards to time constraints, Kale is able to use this power a cumulative of three minutes over multiple uses before requiring rest to recover this ability. Healing Hands The crux of Kale’s evotelluric abilities, his hands have been imbued with the power to heal wounds they come into contact with. By focusing on his intent to heal the given wound, and applying pressure either over a cloth or other sanitary material, or directly on the wound itself, Kale can seal or close most wounds. Granted, there are plenty of conditions, but the power itself is very useful in the hands of a healer.
For large wounds (over six inches, deep cuts or wounds, or ones bleeding profusely) the most Kale can do is speed coagulation of the blood and effectively ‘seal’ the wound. If the victim moves too much, or strains the area, the wound will tear back open immediately, and Kale’s work will be undone. It is imperative in this serious cases, that the victim remain still, and at rest, or be treated with care. Effectively, this is like putting a bandaid on a dire situation, long enough for someone with actual training or ability to step in and heal the wounded.
For medium sized wounds (under six inches, over two inches), Kale is able to reduce the length of the laceration to a small sized wound, or again patch it over. In most cases, the seal will be a lot more hardy, but it is ill advised to maintain combat, or another situation where the wound might be aggravated and opened all over again.
For small sized wounds (anything not meeting the above), Kale is able to completely heal them, lacking even a scar, with prolonged contact. It is still ill advised to get hurt, but that’s why healers are there, because students are silly like that.
The time it takes to heal these wounds is incremental. For small wounds, one minute of exposure to Kale’s hands is enough to let his power do it’s work. For medium wounds, two minutes are required, and for large wounds, three minutes are necessary. When it comes to things like broken bones, sprained wrists, or various other mishaps that happen to students that don’t involve lacerations of the skin and/or bleeding, Kale is currently unable to assist them in little more than healing the skin and muscle if they happen to break a bone in a way that protrudes outside of the skin. That is, if they set the bone properly.
Kale is able to heal six small wounds in a day without rest, with medium wounds taking two charges, and large wounds taking three, effectively allowing him to heal two large wounds, three medium wounds, or six small wounds if he were to focus on a particular category. It’s a start, and Kale’s working on building up his strength, slowly. |

Weapon Training N/A Knowledges Anatomy Kale knows enough about basic bodily functions and organ placement to be able to do his work effectively. In short, he knows exactly what was likely affected depending on what you got hit with where, and the most effective places to stick you with a needle to get you that life saving drug that you need. Note that knowledge is separate from application, as this doesn't play into any secret knowledge of where to hit someone to make it really hurt. Kale's a healer, and his skills reflect this fact.
Kale's expertise stops at human anatomy, and with anyone of foreign, mechanical, or alien life forms he is completely in the dark on how to properly deal with them at this time, and will be at an impasse, trying to assist but not really being able to effectively. Chemistry Kale has moderate knowledge in the field of chemistry. While not able, and not willing, to make a bomb out of the things under the sink, he does posses working knowledge of most basic chemical compounds and their effects on the body. This doesn't mean he's able to synthesize a cure for something on the fly, but he can catch if something he got from the med labs is the right syringe or not. And if it isn't, he stands a good chance of finding the right one.
Kale possess no skill in creating his own compounds, medicines, or other such mixtures, as this is only a knowledge of how things work basis. Any application will be a shot in the dark at best, and best not attempted lest someone give phenomenally worse in attempted treatment. Skill Training Sewing Kale possess rudimentary skill in sewing. Please note this is not the same as stitching, though the ideas are similar, they require entirely different tools, thread, so forth. Kale can weave a good scarf or his own shirts if given enough time, but he can only work with cloth, and needs the same kind of tools you can pick up at any hobby store. He does his own repairs to his clothing, and generally is handy around a needle...but he's no expert, and doesn't make anything really fancy, just basic material. Woodwork The mystical and overlooked art of making birdhouses and shelves. Kale can't do anything really amazing, but simple construction jobs such as making a bookcase, and designing small things like an engraved board to hang on the wall, are the extent of his skill. You know, the common crafter with a workbench in his basement. It's not entirely uncommon for Kale to give someone a shelf if he likes hanging around them. Though a bit weird of course. First Response Kale is versed in most paramedic life-saving techniques. In a crisis scenario, he has a general idea of how to proceed to stabilize a victim and help them remain at least partially stabilized until an actual doctor or medic can tend to them. He knows how to give CPR, how to treat a fracture, dress a wound, etc. While he's no substitute for a doctor, Kale knows how to patch people up and that can make the difference between life or death out in the field. Diagnosis The difference between a sprain, a strain, a fracture, and a clean break. A cold, a fever, or a serious stomach virus. Kale can give a somewhat accurate diagnosis by going over the symptoms the patient is experiencing and recommend a course of action based on those symptoms. Any complex diseases, meaning uncommon, he can't quite diagnose properly, and Kale should never be used as a substitute for seeing an actual doctor. But he can give you a good idea of how to proceed, and in the field, when doctors could be miles if not days away, that can be a necessity.
Kale is unable to, again, diagnose altered human physiology, mechanical constructs, and alien life forms. As well, he cannot diagnose anything SL related in disease structure without Author approval, and even then, it's sketchy how he'd know if he hadn't encountered it before. Kale is not a doctor, but more akin to a paramedic. |
