The art museum is where she'd started out. It seemed like a nice and quiet place to go and a place where she could appreciate the hard work of others. It was an innocent enough thought and considering it was a popular place to go, she was sure nothing could possibly go wrong. But she'd been very wrong about that. Maybe it was all those years bearing the eye of bad luck and misfortune finally turning against her. If that was the case, she'd be fine with the consequences. After all...so many people had suffered because of her eye. But at that time, it was hidden away from view with a black eyepatch while her normal eye was left to examine her surroundings. Not only that, but she'd never experienced any consequences from her eye herself. It always worked against other people. So maybe this time, she was just plain unlucky. "That's an interesting eye patch," He'd murmured once he was next to her and she glanced up at him expecting someone familiar. He smiled down at her. "Why do you wear it? You can tell me. I have powers too. Dangerous ones." How stupid she had been to believe him. How naive. Nothing went right since she'd started attending the campuses so why did she expect this to be any different? It was night now and she was running as fast as her little body could take. Already, she felt a stabbing pain underneath her ribs just begging her to stop. She didn't even know what time it was but there didn't seem to be anyone else out tonight to help her. Faster, she thought, faster faster faster. But her body couldn't satisfy her need for speed. She was so dreadfully tired. There were cars in her view now and she almost collapsed at the thought of being saved from the horrors she'd dealt with. But no one seemed to be in any of the cars. Have to try, she thought as she thrusted herself onto one of the cars and banged on the hood. "Please help me!" She whimpered, instantly regretting ever stopping as the exhaustion started catching up with her. "Please!" He was no where to be found but she didn't doubt he was somewhere lurking. He wanted her and she wasn't stupid enough to think he was giving up now. All she was sure of was that he needed her to die and she just didn't want to yet. Someone...anyone...there had to be at least one person out there that could take her away. |

"Whoa hey! Are you alright!?" there was absolutely no hesitation. The moment someone called for help, a blur of black and crimson was rushing towards her aid. perhaps it was the oath, not one she had taken yet, perhaps never will, but she knew the oath, she loved the oath, she wanted that oath, that she would render aid whenever aid was needed, that cause her to go running towards the voice. She was not an athlete, and she was already out of breath by the time she reached the girl. "Are you okay?" she asked again, slowing to a stop near the girl. She first looked around for someone injured, then looked the girl over to see if she was injured. She was definitely scared that was for sure. She swallowed down the iron taste in the back of her throat, let out another breath before asking, "what's wrong?" Phoenix didn't even think to lift her umbrella It was pointless now that the sun had gone down, but she had still opened it when she had gotten outside out of habit. Now it was a subtle gesture, it raised without her even thinking about it, to shield her and the girl from the light of the moon. This was definitely not how Phoenix thought her day was going to play out when she woke up to someone sliding a pamphlet about the castle under her door that morning. All the students had got one it seemed, she didn't find it odd, but had been intrigued enough to stay awake rather than go back to sleep, dress in some simple clothes, just black tank top, pants and boots, then put on her coat and go to the museum. The exhibits themselves were very interesting, but she was a little too tired to enjoy them fully, and had made plans to switch her scheduled to come see it again at a later day. As she was leaving, she heard the cry for help. Which brought her back now to the present situation. The only thing Phoenix could pick up on was the eye-patch, but the presence of the eye-patch itself said that whatever injury underlying had already been looked over by a doctor. Phoenix then deduced that the reason for the girl's cry for help was not an injury, but something a little more... dangerous. Edited by Angeles, Feb 25 2012, 09:49 AM.

It shouldn't be hard, just... Get the notes done, and spend the rest of the day walking around right? Sounded simple, but when you were faced with an exposition as big as the one within the palace, taking down the notes could take much more than expected. Nonetheless Leo was eventually done with them, and for the moment had headed back to his car... Leave the notes and take a walk around the park for the sake of taking a walk around the park. That's when he saw the girl, she ran on top of a car... or had the car ran over her? Leo wasn't sure, what he was sure was that she had been screaming for help. darn... The cowboy thought, reaching once more into his car and taking his bag of holding out, there he had to have at least some simple first aid items, hopefully he'd be able to be of some use with the limited knowledge he had about it. There was another girl now there too, and at least it seemed that the first girl was still conscious, although scared beyond belief. When he approached though, he recognized her... She was friends with a friend of Chad, and he had been there that night too... What had happened now though? That night it had been a rather silly thing to be honest, but it didn't subtract from the urgency in her calls. Essie? What's goin' on? are ya alright? Leo said as he approached more to the girl... If he had to do with only first sight, she just looked panicked, of course the first step was to calm her. Hey, Essie, listen... we're here, ya don't need to be so scared, ya don't look terribly hurt... Now if ya let me, I can check if ya've got injuries, but ya gotta calm down please. Leo said, trying to establish eye contact with the non-covered eye. Introductions could wait for the moment when they were sure that Essie wasn't hurt, and more importantly... That whatever had set her in this state was nowhere nearby. It hadn't come to Leo's mind that perhaps there was a reason much darker than a wound to be this panicked, he was after all still rather optimistic whenever he went out. |

Two people still out this night and one of them was Leo. She was so happy to see the two of them and burst into tears upon being checked over by the girl who'd arrived. As far as the two of them could tell, there weren't any wounds of any type. Maybe a bruise on her wrist but nothing to be so worked over about. Under any normal meet up, Essie would have probably been thoroughly embarrassed running back into Leo after the little...incident he'd walked into that one night. But tonight was completely different. "You have to help me," She managed to murmur as her tears died down. Her arms grabbed at the both of them as she sneaked a peek backwards. Nothing but darkness. No one following her now that she was with company. That fact hardly put the girl at ease. In fact, not knowing where he was just unsettled her more. "There...he was...I just...He's still out there somewhere, Leo! He's not going to stop," And then again, tears and sniffling. It might have been annoying seeing her there in this state but the girl couldn't help being so emotional. Especially with everything that had happened and everything she was told. "P-please," Essie begged the both of them, her violet eye glancing between Phoenix and Leo as she spoke, "I just want to be out of here." Far away from the museum and the park in general. She just didn't feel safe alone. Not when a complete stranger was looking for her. He'd expected as much. Honestly, he hadn't been keeping up with her. It was ok for Essie to escape tonight. Even if he had her, it just wasn't the time. They had to wait. Two weeks. It seemed so far away but now that he'd found her it was so close. A smirk crossed his lips as he watched her cry like a baby into the two people who'd found her. She seemed so grateful but it was hard to tell at this distance. His whole purpose tonight was to make sure Essie was the girl they were looking for. The girl with the power over probability. She was definitely not the bold and confident person he thought a person like her would be. He'd told her the truth about his plans for her only because he thought she deserved to know. Everyone should have the right to have a few days saying goodbye to the ones they loved and cared about. He wasn't at all worried about her telling anyone his plans because no one could stop it. He was going to get her and she'd walk right into his trap willingly and naively. After that, it'd be far too late for anyone to save her. His smirk turned into a grin as he turned, slowly shuffling away. "Two weeks, Estralia Mallaen...two weeks and we'll show you what you're made of..." No doubt, it'd be more interesting for him to show her she wasn't safe with anyone by snatching her now while she thought she was safe. His powers gave him an immense amount of mobility, after all, but what was the fun in that? Patience is a virtue and he'd wait for something as great as Essie. They all would. |

"I thought so," she murmured at the girl's desperation and moved herself behind the one called Essie, putting herself between whatever danger was following the girl and the girl herself. She lowered and shut her umbrella, finally, looping it around her wrist so that her hands were free. All the while, she tried to see whatever it was that the girl was running from. She thought she saw some movement, but it was so small that it may have just been her mind playing trick on her, and nothing else moved the longer she looked at it. Giving the area a final suspicious glare she turned around to face the girl, now between her and the man that knew her; she called him Leo. He was trying to calm her down and look her over as well. But staying in this spot was not going to help her or them, "let's go somewhere there's more light," she offered. It was a suggestion that subtly hid the intent to remove the girl from the situation. Somewhere well lit would also be good for Essie's mental state. Light had a way of banishing fears. "We can go to my place," she said without hesitation, "or yours, she knows you better," the girl and the young man knew each other. He could probably handle and protect her better than Phoenix, who in her mind was beginning to make not to always carry her whip with her off-grounds. Sure it wasn't the best weapon against a gun or blade or something that may actually be considered a weapon, but it was at least something if not intimidating. |

Essie seemed beyond joy when she saw both checking her over, and Leo was quite pleased to realize there were no injuries, none that presented a risk at least... or that seemed beyond usual for her. It however left the cowboy wondering, if she wasn't wounded, what had scared her so much? She murmured about them having to help her. Yeah, that was obvious, but with what? What had happened? She seemed nervous, grabbing both the other girl and him and peeking backwards... Leo too glanced, but saw nothing. At least Essie began to explain somewhat what had happened... Someone, a male, had chased Essie and was apparently stalking her still, and wasn't going to stop. The cowboy, glanced once more, this time his eyes were shifted to the tiger equivalent... They provided much better vision in the darkness and while he didn't manage to see anyone out there, he was at least sure that whoever had caused this to Essie wasn't there anymore. Needless to say, this security was nowhere near enough to make Leo feel calm, in fact it worried him even more... The stranger girl offered to go to her place, however being a stranger, Leo doubted Essie would feel safe at her place... And yeah, perhaps Leo wasn't the most familiar face to Essie, but she at least knew him by name and knew he wasn't ill intentioned. My place, I can take us there in some minutes. Leo stated, his left arm and hand surrounding Essie protectively, so if someone wanted to snatch her, it'd be only against the cowboy's reflexes, which needless to say were far superior than those of an average human. His right hand was holding the grip of his revolver, he didn't mind if the unknown girl saw it, and Essie knew Leo carried a firearm since their first meeting, at the moment it was best if he had the fastest possible reaction, and if the stalker could see he too was armed, it would be possibly for the best, to dissuade it from attacking. Let's go, my pickup is over there. Leo gestured for his vehicle, it was a really short walk from where they were, and with easy he quickly opened the door and allowed both girls to get in, before getting in too and starting it. Now... He won't stop? What d'ya mean with that Essie? what did he want? Leo asked, getting the pickup going and driving out of the place... He'd take a little detour and go around the city for a while to be sure they weren't being followed. |

Leo and the girl with him was right, Essie definitely felt more comfortable being taken to Leo's place. Although she and Leo weren't close friends, he was someone she knew that could take care of business and protect those that needed it. She was going to be paranoid enough as it was and anything that could minimize it would work in everyone's favor. She nodded once they all agreed to leave for Leo's house in his truck and as they made their way to his vehicle, Essie couldn't help but to continue to glance back. For some reason, she expected to see him standing there, smiling at her. No...not smiling...it was much too sinister to be labeled as a smile... "Thank you both...I wasn't sure if anyone...would hear me or see me," She said as Leo helped her into his pickup. She sat in the middle with Phoenix and Leo on either side of her and it brought on a sense of protection that helped her relax a bit. With the engine started and the vehicle leaving the park, the threat of the man following her was almost erased entirely. She was safe. She had to be. "Anyway...he said they wanted..." Essie paused, fidgeting with her fingers. When the man after her had brought up the topic, it was all too silly for her to imagine. He was crazy, was what she thought. But the look in his eyes had been serious and he intended to eventually take her. "Tyche..." It was all she answered with for a while as she thought over his words carefully. "He needs my help. He says no matter where I go...he'll follow me. He'll find me..." She started to panic again and she tried to shrink herself in her seat in case somewhere, somehow, he was watching. "I think...I think he means to kill me..." Just saying it out loud sent a cold shiver down her spine. "Oh god...what am I going to do?! I'm not safe anywhere, am I!?" Not even at Leo's place. She couldn't hide there forever. She wasn't even sure bodyguards would do any good. The man had told her that he was very powerful. He wasn't specific and it made her overactive imagination run wild with what he'd meant. But one thing she knew he was sure of...was the fact that Essie would fall into his hands and that he'd kill her. "No need to tail them," He spoke into his cell phone after leaving the park, "She goes to school in the area." The voice on the other line seemed frantic and filled with uncertainty and he rolled his eyes at the ignorance of his friend. "Listen...We have someone around that can keep track of her on the school grounds, don't we?" Another few seconds and he nodded with delight. "Good. You keep them on her. Who knows how long she'll have someone with her. Just make sure our contact keeps themselves well hidden around her and whoever she's with. We wouldn't want any of our people falling into the wrong hands." A minute or two later and he flipped the phone closed. Their contact. He wished to hell they didn't have to use her. She was unreliable, unpredictable, and had a few too many problems for him to want to work with her. Still, it was all they had on the dual campuses and although she wasn't totally necessary for their plans, it would certainly make things easier. The only upside to using her was even if she happened to be found out, she was much too insane for anything she said to be taken seriously. Besides, no one would suspect that he'd have someone following her in the school. Everything was going smoothly. The only thing that could dampen his plans was if Estralia somehow found a way out of his reach. That was simply improbable. He'd bet his life on it. |

Phoenix followed, not even thinking about herself in the situation. She didn't know these people, the man or the girl, and now she was going to get into his truck without any questions and go to his place. She took up the rear of the group, putting herself in between whatever danger may be stalking. Whenever the girl looked over her shoulder, Phoenix did the same, but still could see nothing. Once they finally arrived, she got into the truck after the girl, putting her between Phoenix and Leo. The door was shut, and Phoenix's hard gaze was outside into the dark, the night vision she had acquired having been shot when the light of the truck came on. As the two spoke, Phoenix only looked over on occasion. She wasn't any part of this conversation, she would simply play lookout for now, using the side mirror and what she could see with her normal vision, now that it had adjusted again. In her peripheral vision, the headlights were shining down on the road, on the way to a place she wasn't sure, but likely back to the school. When the girl said her last words, Phoenix finally looked over. Now she wasn't one to shoot down gut-feelings and instincts, but it had been drilled into her head to always think rationally about a given situation, "did he say he was going to kill you?" she asked. Creepy stalker? Maybe, but that didn't make everyone a potential murderer. Then the girl went into hysterics. Phoenix set a gentle hand on her shoulder and gave her a soft smile and spoke gently, "hey, calm down, you've got me and Randy Jones here to keep you safe okay?" she gave the girl an encouraging smile, "so calm down okay?" it wasn't a demand, if the girl continued being afraid, she would keep consoling her until she felt better, safer. Once they got to the dorms, she would have to go get her whip, to add to the arsenal that Leo was already bringing with himself. She gently squeezed Essie's shoulder before turning and looking outside again through her own transparent reflection. Blue eyes stared through themselves to the dark world outside as she considered options. The night was supposed to be her time, a 'vampire' as she was, and yet even she was scared of what may be lurking out in the shadows waiting to pounce. She knew that fear, and so, had the desire to have others not be afraid. |

The thanks was welcome with a simple nod from Leo, it wasn't a problem really, and now he was glad he had been there that night, protecting Essie from a stalker. Stalkers, kidnappers, rapists, those were the few persons on whom Leo would have little concern about placing a bullet or two in them, maybe more if needed, mostly if not entirely due to his experience with Jacey, the thought of someone harassing a girl to the point of making her scream as Essie had was enough to make his blood boil. The stranger girl was looking out of the window, hopefully in search of another strange sign, like a car keeping its route behind them or something similar. Essie began to speak as the pickup truck left the park and went into the streets, Leo focused on the road, however listening to what Essie was telling them... Tyche? Wasn't that some goddess? Leo wanted to hope it wasn't that, it'd be the second time he got in a mess of divine proportions, and Skadi's first impression regarding deities wasn't terribly good honestly. Essie clarified however, saying that the stalker had said he needed her help, and that no matter where she went, he'd follow her... find her. This caused a low growl from Leo's throat, now he wanted a confrontation, now he wanted to see this person and bring it either to justice or down, someone as sick as that didn't deserve the chance to hurt someone at all. Essie however seemed to panic with the hypothesis that the stalker was out to kill her. The other girl however seemed to analyze things, had the man actually said he'd kill Essie? Does it matters? I don't care what are his intentions, no one should harass a girl... in general, harass anyone else like this. Leo replied to Phoenix, the ends didn't matter, it was the ways, and obviously whoever was behind Essie hadn't the best ways to ask for things. At least the other girl tried to calm Essie, supported with a nod from the cowboy Don't worry Essie, ya'll be safe... We're not goin' back to the campus, that'd be too darn dangerous, it'd be best if ya spent some days in my house out of the campus, got private security and well, since it's more than just me there, ya'd never be alone. Leo said, thinking about it, he didn't know how much Essie had told the guy before he got creepy, but if she had mentioned she was assisting to the campus, then going back there would be the same to have stayed back at the park. He glanced to Essie for a brief moment, smiling to her warmly... Yeah, perhaps he didn't know her lots, but if he could do something, anything at all, to spare Essie the pain and dangers of being kidnapped or stalked? Then he was going to do it. Side note, call me Leo, not Randy Jones The cowboy said with a chuckle, trying to make the mood lighten. |

Phoenix made a good point. For a moment, it brought a little relief to the girl. Maybe all he wanted her for was...something else...but even that thought wasn't too bright. "He didn't...not exactly," Essie admitted as she glanced down at her fumbling fingers, "But...it sounded like it...it sounded like he might..." She squeezed her eyes shut before glancing back at Phoenix. She was smiling and trying her best to comfort her, even mentioning Leo using some reference she wasn't familiar with. Essie got the point though. For now, she was protected and with Leo taking her to his place, she was well-guarded. She had to believe that. "I...you both don't know how grateful I am to have you both here with me right now. I'm just so scared...but you guys are really...making me feel better about the entire thing." She sank a little in her seat, staring at the road in front of them. In only a few minutes, she'd be safe. "Will...you be with me too?" Essie asked, turning her head toward Phoenix, "I mean...you don't have to be. I don't want to be any more of a burden than I already am..." Despite being told not to tail the truck, he couldn't help but to do it. The boss was smart and knew what he was doing but Essie was getting away and the boss hadn't really expressed all of his plans to them. He wouldn't tail immediately, but he was already in his own vehicle, lights off, ready to follow every and any turn they made. Estralia was much too important. The boss wouldn't like him disobeying orders but if he succeeded, he'd be a hero. His car was silent and it crept ever so slowly out of the area as the truck disappeared down the road. He pressed the gas and his car steadily quickened until the truck was just visible. Then, he cruised. He wasn't going to follow them the entire distance. Only enough to know the general area Essie would be going. It didn't matter to him if the boss had someone on the campuses ready to spy on her. What if Essie left the campuses and went to live with her father? Or what if she just fled the area completely and went into hiding? There were too many possibilities and none of their group knew enough about Essie to judge exactly what she'd do. Maybe the boss did...but how could they trust him so blindly. They couldn't see him, could they? It was dark and he was being exceptionally careful. Still, he knew he wasn't an expert at this at all. He was trying his best though, and that was all he could offer. |

"I'm in the truck aren't I?" she asked with a small smile, "well, I guess I could always bale out, tuck and roll and hope that no bones get broken on the way down, but I'd rather not risk that much pain and damage to my body, so... yeah," she grinned humorously, "I guess I'm going with you." She shook her head with a laugh, "trust me, you're no burden, I've got three brothers, having some girl-time with someone is a nice change of pace," anything to get the girl's mind off whatever danger she thought she was in. Phoenix smiled at Leo, "I'm Phoenix, by the way, Phoenix Driscoll," she finally introduced to the two. She would have shaken hands with them if it weren't for the tight space of the truck. If Leo and her could succeed in keeping the mood light and cheery, and Essie's mind off of what was going on, Phoenix would consider the night to not be a complete loss, as well as felt like she had been at least slightly of use. |

Leo smiled a warm smile to Essie, reaching to hug her with one hand while the other remained on the wheel, his eyes though quickly returned to the way as he held Essie there. It's alright girl, ya won' get hurt, I'm not gonna let that happen any time. Leo stated in response to her thanks, he really wanted her to feel calm. This though wouldn't last long, Leo's plan was rather simple, if they were being followed, well he'd notice someone following them the moment they parked somewhere right, being out in the night, Leo knew of a couple of safe places he could hit before going home, places where anything suspicious would be noticed. The first destination was Chad's club... Why? Because there he knew would be both Chad and Calvin, they could certainly help him fight off whoever tried to follow them inside or take Essie, and given the fact it'd be a crowded place, moving through without causing a major ruckus would be close to impossible... Besides, there were the offices, and from the roof Leo could keep an eye on strange activity. Call him paranoid, but after what had happened to him and his sister, he preferred this paranoid plan than risking having Essie kidnapped or worse. We're headin' first t' a club of the brother of my boyfriend... If someone's followin' us, then they'll have t' park nearby or lose track of us... I've got two other clubs we can hit that are safe too, so noticin' someone behind us will be darn easy. Leo explained his plan, driving through the dark streets towards the Den, before getting into a back garage entrance. Don' get far girls, we're headin' first t' the office t' talk with Calvin and his brother, ya two can stay in there for yer safety while Chad, Calvin 'n I check the area. Leo explained, waiting for the girls to affirm or say no to open the back door of the club. |

Phoenix was in for the ride and it helped make Essie feel a little more protected. Not that Leo wasn't enough but the more the merrier. A small smile graced her lips as Phoenix joked with her but it quickly disappeared at the mention of siblings. Sibling talk always made Essie feel a bit awkward for reasons only she knew about. Hopefully such things would stay secretly buried within her. "I'm Estralia," She reminded Phoenix, nodding her head slightly after they exchanged names. Leo reached around and squeezed Essie as he drove and assured her again that she was definitely safe with him. However, when he mentioned bringing them to a club, she began to panic inwardly. "I...I don't think we should go to a club..." Essie's voice squeaked as she practically mumbled the words. How safe could a club be? All she could picture was a big group of people all around as she tried to follow Leo and Phoenix. Then, all of a sudden, she's being snatched away and all the noise drowns out her own cries for help. The thought wasn't satisfying at all. It was far too late, she realized as they pulled up to a building she didn't recognize. From what Leo was saying, this was the club he was referring to. She sank herself even lower in her seat, almost as if she'd be spotted otherwise. "I...really don't feel comfortable going in, Leo," Essie piped up. Being uncomfortable was severely understating how she felt about the entire ordeal. "I'm sorry...I just..." Her words fell off as she covered her face. He was being as careful as he could. So far, it appeared that his target didn't know he was following her. That in itself gave him a little more confidence. The truck turned into a garage and he was forced to turn three blocks before that into a driveway. He didn't know whose house it was but it didn't really matter either. If the owners came out and wondered what he was doing, he'd tell them he was merely lost and was simply taking the time to evaluate his surroundings. Besides, he looked normal and charming enough to get away with any explanation. But how was he going to figure out what they were doing? Not that it mattered as long as he had a location but now the curiosity within him was growing. He wouldn't go in that building though. He wasn't that stupid. |

Phoenix registered the name this time then watched the girl descend into panic, "maybe this isn't a good idea Leo," she said simply but it was too late. Phoenix looked at the building and sighed softly through her nose. She then looked at Essie sinking more into the seat and hiding her face in her hands. Honestly Phoenix didn't know how to argue for going in. She wasn't familiar with the club, and she didn't know who Chad was. Rather than argue then she put a comforting hand one Essie's shoulder and gave it a firm squeeze, "hey," she said softly to the girl, "let's check it out first, it might not be what we think," honestly she thought this was a bad idea as well, she would rather get them all back to the school, it was at least slightly safer there, and with a lot more people, with powers, willing to come to the aid of someone being attacked. "We'll go in for just a little bit, check it out, if you still don't think it's safe, we'll think of something else," her eyes moved to Leo, looking for support of this idea, if he would even get it, she wasn't entirely sure what kind of man Leo was at the moment, though she trusted him for now. With this plan at least, they could get inside somewhere, which was safer than sitting in the cramped confines of a truck. |

Essie didn't seem to like the club idea too much, and granted, had it been an average club Leo too would have been nervous about getting her into it, but the fact that it was full of either Evos and Magi, or creatures from other two realms, Leo felt that someone normal would look terribly out of place... And most likely than not would run the hell away from the place after the first sight of some of the customers. Her words however didn't fall in deaf ears, and although he was quite sure this was a good idea, Essie did seem quite worried and uncomfortable overall. It's alright Essie. Leo said, though Phoenix got to assure Essie this would be fine and that they should check it out at least. Leo nodded to support Phoenix' words, smiling lightly and placing his arm around Essie's shoulder, trying to give her the feeling that she was protected, and that no one would get to her without going through Leo before. Well Essie, yer call... I'd say we should at the very least wait here for a while, if we're bein' followed they'll probably assume we're stayin' here for the night and either leave, try comin' t' find ya inside or risk gettin' caught outside, 'n if they come, I'm sure Phoenix and me can defend ya, besides I know the boss here, his security team would support us. Leo explained, leaning against the door of his truck, giving Essie the chance to say if she preferred to just leave the place, even though he offered arguments to at the very least wait in there. |

Phoenix tried to help Essie feel better and even suggested they at least have a look around. What she was saying was very reasonable and even she knew it. Leo added his support on the matter. He even made really good points as to why they should at least stay in the garage for a little while. "I don't doubt that you both are capable..." Essie murmured as she uncovered her face. She didn't want to admit her fear of getting taken away in the large crowd bound to be inside though. That might just make them think she was too paranoid or silly. It didn't stop her from being uncomfortable but she didn't want the two of them to feel as if they weren't making any progress with her. They'd done so much already. The least she could do was trust them. Phoenix didn't even know her and was already willing to help her out. "I...Let's go inside...just to see, I guess," She finally answered, avoiding eye contact with either of them as she tried to seem nonchalant about the decision. It wasn't working. She was horrible at hiding how she really felt. Nonetheless, she waited for one of them to exit the vehicle so she could follow suit. Leo knew a lot of people at this club and he was willing to stake her life on their ability. Besides, like he said, if anyone happened to be following them, they'd turn around after thinking they'd reached their destination. Ten minutes had passed but it felt like an eternity as he glanced down at his phone for the time. This couldn't be where they were staying for the night. Why weren't they heading back to school or heading somewhere much further away from the incident? It just didn't make sense. Unless this was just a pitstop. Maybe they were getting a few things before setting off for their real destination. Just to be sure, he had to wait it out. An hour, two, maybe even three. But he had to wait and see. Otherwise, he might not be able to forgive himself. He was already committing himself to this task. Coming back with no information seemed like too much of a waste. Besides, if the boss found out he'd disobeyed orders...with nothing gained? No, he'd find something out. He had to. There was no other option for him. He got cozy in his chair with his hands behind his head, occasionally peering toward the building they'd disappeared into. His curiosity wouldn't bring him enough trouble as to force him to check the place out. Maybe at a later time when he knew they weren't there, but not now. |

Phoenix smiled and rubbed Essie's shoulders before turning and opening the door to the truck, sliding out and waiting for Essie to get out as well, offering her hand to help her down, "let me know if you're cold," she said to the young girl, "you can have my coat if you need," Phoenix herself did not get cold easily because of her condition. After everyone was out, she set herself behind Essie, protecting the back so that Leo could have the front. She may not know much about protecting someone, but if Dungeons and Dragons had taught her anything other than the awesome that was a vampire dragon, it was that the middle was the safest spot, and that was where you put what you wanted to protect. Looking at the club she swallowed slightly and bit her lip a bit, wondering what would be inside other than a party. In any other situation, she would have run inside and joined in the dancing and merry-making, but tonight, she really wanted to take the girl back to the dorm, but Leo thought this was safest for now. She was just going to have to trust the cowboy. As they stepped in Phoenix's hand went to her bag for her ID almost on reflex but did not actually get out the wallet unless she was asked for it. Her mind was on what would happen if it came to a fight. Without her whip, all she had were her pointy nails and her sharp teeth, and biting someone meant possibly accidentally drinking their blood, breaking her oath, and possibly causing more problems for Leo and Essie. Not that she would lose control of herself and begin attacking anything with a heartbeat, that was not how her condition worked, but the... 'bloodlust' as it could be called, could very well be a frightening experience for Essie. She figured Leo would probably not be fazed. |

Leo didn't press the matter, he just waited for Essie to decide if she wanted or not to at least stay there for a while, though in the end she decided to go inside, although it as an insecure decision. Phoenix smiled, allowing Essie to go out of the truck where Leo had been waiting for them already, the cowboy then took the lead while Phoenix secured the back, Essie effectively in the middle of the group. The entrance where Leo lead the girls to wasn't the main one, but a small door in the back of the garage, opening it and leading the way in. Contrary to what they could be expecting they arrived to a hallway with bunches of doors to each side, most of them closed and with a hanging paper sign of do not disturb... Yeah, Leo had taken them to the back rooms, but only because it was safer than going through a crowd, and because Chad's office was easier to reach from there. And muffled by the walls they could hear the music blasting, people dancing and having a good time out there. This way girls... Leo said and lead the way down the hallway and then down some stairs before they arrived to a simple wooden door. Knocking a couple of times, Chad opened the door of the office... Which looked to be a royal mess. The teen standing there smiled when he saw Leo and moved to a side How's it going cowboy? I see you've got company. Chad said, leaning against his desk, his arms crossed over his chest. Leo walked into the room, chuckling lightly to Chad's nickname, seriously it was one the pack used quite often on him... That and tiger, though just Leo wasn't uncommon really. I'd say going well though... We've got an issue. See, ya remember Essie? Well, she was harassed by some dude at the castle, we found her 'n got her here... Think ya could go out 'n take a look for any unusual car pakin' or circlin' the place, or for some stranger standin' nearby? I fear we might be followed back t' the resort. Leo explained the situation briefly, to what Chad nodded lightly and looked to Essie, of course he remembered her, that night had been all kinds of weird for him. Alright, wait here and lock the door... Won't take too long. Chad said with a nod, waving to the girls and leaving the room, closing the door behind him, which Leo secured from the inside. See, told ya we wouldn't have problems gettin' here... Now, I just hope we're not bein' followed. Leo said, sitting on the desk and looking with a small smile to the girls, before he turned around and opened a drawer, bringing out a couple of oranges Wanna eat somethin' while we wait? It was obvious Leo knew Chad quite well... How could he not being the boyfriend of his brother? Chad walked out of his club armed with... Nothing, honestly given his strength and fire, nothing was needed to make the teen a serious threat, not to mention he looked just as buff as most of his bouncers. He first inspected the alleys by the sides and back of the club, but found nothing unusual, thus he went to the front, looking for someone suspicious or some car circling the place... Still nothing unusual. What was unusual though was the car parked in one of the houses nearby... Chad knew the cars that belonged to that house, and thus walked over to check what was going on there... Hey, can I help you? The teen asked, knocking lightly on the window... He knew the family that owned that house was out of town, so he also knew what he was going to do to scare the stranger off in case he didn't have a good excuse to be there. |

Estralia took Phoenix's hand gingerly as she slid out of the truck. They filed into a line with Leo in the front as he guided them into the building. She thought about taking Phoenix up on the offer to wear her jacket. At least then she'd feel a little safer. Almost like hiding. Instead, she quietly made her way through the hallway, wondering what kind of club this was. She wasn't very familiar with any club's layout but so far, everything was a lot less crowded and a lot quieter than she assumed it'd be. They seemed to have come in from the back and Essie was severely grateful for that. Leo continued down the hall until he knocked and opened one of the doors. She heard Chad before she saw him but she automatically recognized who it was. Without even thinking, she waved, already happier that the person they were going to for help was someone she was acquainted with. Though their meeting was...interesting, to say the very least, all of the embarrassment generated on that night was nowhere to be found here. Leo was quick to send Chad on the mission of making sure they were safe. Surely, Chad would find anything out of the ordinary and report his findings to the group. The more the talk of being followed was brought up, the more unsettling the idea was. What if they WERE being followed? What were they going to do? What if a whole group was after them and were stronger than Phoenix and Leo combined? An orange was offered to her and it helped distract her from her worries a little. With a nod, she accepted the fruit and turned it over in her hands. "How likely...is it...that we'd be followed?" Her voice was rather quiet as she examined her orange without any motion to eat it yet. "And...well...what are we going to do if we are being followed? I know that you're strong, Leo...but I'm not. I feel like...I'm putting you both in danger of something serious...I don't want you guys to get hurt..." She glanced at Phoenix, not quite sure how she'd handle the situation either. Surely she wasn't as frail as Essie was. But how would she know? "Maybe I should...just...I...I don't know..." A knock at his window from the guy he'd seen coming toward him. He rolled down his window and smiled at Chad as if they'd been long time friends. Maybe they'd known he was tailing them the entire time. Or maybe they were just checking to be sure. "Uh, hey. Do you live here?" He doubted it but asked anyway. "I'm just trying to figure out where I'm going." He chuckled, and shook his head. Chad wasn't someone he could beat in any physical fight with nothing but their strengths at their disposal. Chad was buff and lean. He, on the other hand, was slim with muscles that were put to shame after examining Chad. "I'm not from around here and I got lost trying to find my way to Avalon. My girlfriend goes there and she's waiting for me." He didn't look to be from around the area so it wasn't that hard to believe. He was a blond with brown eyes and no hint of being asian. "Think you can help me out? She's probably worried and I left my phone." |

Phoenix grinned as she could hear the music and the people on the other side of the walls. She wished she was there, but she had someone to take care of, though she wasn't sure how effective she would be if it came down to a fight of any sort. She looked at the rooms with the signs and could only imagine what was going on behind closed doors and smirked slightly at her thoughts. Leo led them both down a hallway and some stairs and ultimately to a door that opened at his knock. Phoenix should probably have stopped expecting to see someone she recognized in this adventure. The boy in the doorway greeted Leo as 'cowboy' and Phoenix grinned, remembering her 'Randy Jones' joke earlier and stepped in after Essie. She stepped back and let those who were familiar with each other talk things over. But Leo was all business and got right down to the heart of the problem, and said they may have been followed. This resulted in the man leaving and the door being locked so that the three of them were inside a rather messy office alone. Phoenix had to resist the urge to begin cleaning. "Oh, thanks," she said to the orange and used one of her pointed nails to begin to carve the flesh off the fruit. She didn't answer Essie's first question, because Phoenix's answer was 'likely' and that wouldn't help anything. Getting the peel off in one piece she split it in half and removed the core before eating a slice and listening to Essie's fears. It was true, between her, Phoenix and Leo, Leo was likely going to be the only one who knew how to fight. Phoenix had only learned how to punch properly from James, and that was about the extent of her combat knowledge, not to mention punching anything harder than a feather pillow could probably break her wrist. She looked at her hand, flexing her fingers before crooking them. Well, she did also have her nails, but they were only nails, and liable to break. After that, there were her fangs, and that was... just no. She smiled at Essie and rested her hand on her shoulder, "hey," she said softly, "I volunteered for this mess, you don't need to worry about me. Besides," she said moving her hand from Essie to indicate Leo as a whole, "look at him, he has enough muscle to spare to protect the two of us against a bear if needed," she smiled in a joking manner, tongue stuck out between her pointed teeth, "and I'm a redhead, you know what they say about them," she chuckled and offered Essie her already peeled orange so that the girl wouldn't have to work the peel of of her own. She looked up at Leo and smiled, before looking around the room, "this place looks lived-in," she said casually, "how do you know this guy?" |

Essie accepted the fruit, however she didn't begin to eat it unlike Phoenix who was almost immediately taking care of it. Leo was reaching back to the drawer from where he had pulled the oranges to get one for himself when Essie asked how likely it was that they were followed. Turning around Leo let out a sigh It depends on what kind of psycho was harassin' ya at the castle... Most will drop it once ya run away though, and I doubt he'd be too eager t' follow someone armed and another student of the campus. Leo said, trying to think of a way to tell Essie it was possible, but not terribly likely. Essie continued, apparently worried that she was putting them in danger, worried that they'd get hurt, Leo chuckled though, and Phoenix explained she had volunteered for all of this... And then indicated him, making the cowboy smirk and playfully flex his arms, then when Phoenix said about redheads Leo chuckled Yeah, ya don't mess with a redhead if ya like yer life. The cowboy stated before starting to peel the orange. Phoenix then asked how Leo knew Chad, the cowboy swallowed a piece of orange whole in order to reply He's a good friend of mine, 'n brother of my boy, he's also a student at the dual campus so odds are ya'd meet him at some point or another. Leo said, taking another piece of the orange and looking at it for a brief moment, before turning to Essie. Not t' show off, but Essie, ya can be sure t' take me down whoever harassed ya would need ten other men... I ain't a pro fighter or bodyguard, but I'm gonna participate in the Olympics for rapid shootin' 'n ten meter shootin', if it comes down t' defend ya, I'll use that... 'sides, I doubt they'd mess with a tiger. Leo stated, eating the orange piece and placing the rest on the desk before letting his body shift to his tiger form, sitting on the desk now and moving his tail happily, tapping at the desk lightly with it before reaching for the orange and eating what was left whole. Well yes, definitely this guy wasn't from around this place, which naturally worried Chad, but giving him the benefit of doubt the wolf-boy decided the best would be to provide him the instructions and then get him to move. Yeah, I live here. Chad lied, though it was so straight to the point and while he smiled he didn't chuckle, making it seem like he meant business. The other guy then told him that he was looking to find his way to Avalon... Well, that was easy enough really, and Chad didn't knew how someone could get lost considering the tower of the campus could be seen from almost every avenue from the city. Sure, look, you'll go all down this road, then turn left in the first corner, go all straight to the port, you'll have to leave your car in some garage there, then you can take the ferry or the tram, either is announced and is in the same building so you won't miss them. Chad explained, before standing up to his full height and crossing his arms, making sure it was clear he was bigger and stronger, so there was no chance in hell he'd get out of a fight with the wolf-boy. Now, please get going, I need to park my bike. Chad said with a small smile, he didn't want to seem rude or mean, but at the same time he wanted this guy moving as soon as possible... And even if he left, he'd keep an eye on him... He could be a tourist for sure but Chad wouldn't risk, Leo trusted him to deal with these kind of things for a reason, and he wouldn't disappoint Leo. |

No, Essie didn't know what anyone said about redheads. She nodded as if she completely understood although the blank look on her face gave her away. Leo was quick to clarify without her having to ask, however, which made her image of Phoenix change drastically. She switched oranges with Phoenix and delicately peeled apart one of the slices and placed it in her mouth, thanking her afterward. Sure, she could use something to eat but the mood just wasn't there. "You both are right. I don't know why I worry so much. I guess I'm just not...used to this kind of thing," The girl sighed, pacing slowly as her gaze focused on a point on the floor. "Wait...Olympics?" Essie peered up at Leo as she realized what he'd said. "Congratulations, Leo. Good luck!" A genuine smile appeared and it seemed, at least for the time being, that all her troubles had been forgotten. At least, until Leo turned into a tiger. It was an ability Essie hadn't known he'd possessed and it startled her. But it was still Leo...right? And she trusted him no matter what form he took. "Wow...Leo. I guess anyone trying to go against you will have a ton of trouble besting you." Part of her was in awe. The rest of her was a little frightened and unsure despite how happy his new form seemed. She checked Phoenix for her reaction to gauge her own. She knew Leo would never hurt her but a tiger was a powerful beast. "Sounds easy enough," He replied after the directions were explained. The man was in a hurry to get rid of him and it was almost offensive to him but he simply smiled and nodded his head. "Sorry for the trouble. And thanks a ton." He wasn't thankful that he'd been practically forced off his spot. He was definitely not sorry about any trouble he might have caused him. Now he was going to have to form some other plan. As he pulled out of the driveway, lights on and a smile still on his face in case the man was watching, he decided he'd have a little chat with their informant on the campuses. Make sure the boss had contacted her and briefed her on the situation. His car disappeared in the direction Chad had provided. He wouldn't be so easily defeated though. |

Phoenix smiled when Leo agreed with her, slipping another orange in her mouth and chuckling, "grr," she said completely un-intimidating. He then explained that he knew Chad because he was a student and said Phoenix would have likely met him son anyway. Not likely. Phoenix was a night owl. She hardly met anyone at night that she wanted to meet, these two as an exception. As it was, Lillium was the only other student she had met at night, and that.... didn't turn out in a way Phoenix was too happy about. She caught on that Leo was going into the Olympics and Phoenix smiled, "awesome, congrats," she said, not overwhelmingly excited for the boy she barely knew, but happy for him nonetheless. It was an achievement for anyone to become an Olympian and dream of gold. Last she had heard though, America wasn't accepting evotellurics into their teams, something she wasn't happy about, so who was Leo going with for the games? Then Leo turned into a tiger and Phoenix blinked, eating another slice of orange, "nice," she said grinning widely, eyes narrowing slightly. Tigers had been her favorite animal, until Riki came around and found out about his phobia and she had to get rid of all her tiger things. Since then, tigers had kind of lost their appeal to the redhead, still majestic creatures to draw inspiration and awe, but simply no longer her favorite. She refrained from her want to pet Leo, as that would be weird, and instead ate another orange. "Well then, say Chad comes back and all's well, do we stay here for the night to make sure? Do we all go home? I can stay if needed, but i could at least use a broom for just in case. Seeing your claws Leo suddenly makes my own nails look like wimpy toothpicks," she lifted her hand and crooked her fingers a few times with a teasing grin, her tongue sticking out between her sharp teeth. |

It did seem for a moment that Essie calmed, saying they were right indeed and that she didn't know know why she worried. Leo though understood why she was so worried, when Jacey had almost been kidnapped, Leo wouldn't let her go anywhere without him, not that she often left home without him, but after that, they were practically together all the time. It hadn't been until just a couple of years after that Leo relaxed a bit and they began to go out separately again, but his worries for her never decreased, and now that they were in the campus, Leo kept struggling with being away from Jacey, though their mind link did help lots, what with him knowing if she was in danger or hurt. Essie and Phoenix congratulated him on going to the Olympics, and honestly Leo couldn't but feel better hearing them even if it was a small congratulations... He wouldn't let them down. Essie though seemed a tad frightened when Leo shifted his form, while Phoenix didn't seem nearly as impressed or scared even, preferring to ask what they'd do if everything was fine. If everything's fine, we'll be headin' t' my resort, there Essie can stay for a couple of days, I doubt anyone would follow her for that long, 'n there she'll always have someone to protect her... Leo said, before easily climbing down the desk and walking over to Essie, and without warning he stood on his hind legs and pulled her into a hug, purring by her ear and rubbing his massive head against hers. Ya got nothin' t' fear Essie, I'm the same in this form 'n my human form... Well, except as a tiger I'm a sucker for belly rubs... Ya'd be surprised just how good they feel. Leo said, parting from the hug and laying near the desk. It was a couple of minutes later that Chad walked in, he looked a tad bothered but not terribly so. I think no one is following you anymore... Though I did see a car with a tourist looking to go to the campus, maybe it's true, but I'd still recommend to avoid going there... Don't know how serious they are about it, but if they are trying to kidnap her, they must have her room number and such. Chad said, looking to the white tiger who just as suddenly as he had changed into a tiger changed back into Leo. Alright, we'll keep that in mind, thanks a lot for this Chad, guess we'll head t' the resort now. Leo said, to what the teen nodded. Yeah, the faster you can sneak out of here, the better. Chad said, patting Essie's shoulder lightly and offering her a smile. Don't worry girl, you're in good hands, will see you in a couple of hours back in the resort. Chad said, opening the door for the party to go out. With that brief stay in the club and Chad saying there was nothing suspicious around, Leo took the girls once more to his pickup, opening the doors for them to get on and then opening the garage doors, Chad closed them behind the pickup that now was making its way to the resort. Meanwhile, Chad was left with a bitter taste in his mouth, he couldn't prevent to wonder if perhaps he had missed something or other, so he decided to call it a night at his work, he was the owner after all, and telling Lexy he'd leave early, the teen went to the garage and got his bike, beginning to follow Leo's pickup. Of course being covered in riding leathers and helm made him an anonymous, so if the other guy was following them, or someone was following them, they wouldn't notice it was the same guy from before. He kept a good distance from Leo's pickup, even if he could have caught them since his bike, being smaller, and Chad being a good rider, could go through the traffic without problem. Keeping some distance allowed him to observe patterns in the other cars too, letting him see if someone was staying all the time behind, where Leo wouldn't be able to see them, but they'd be able to see Leo. And he did spot something... A car began following Leo's pickup again just after they turned near the campus' buildings, keeping about four cars in distance, making him be just in front of Chad... It was also the same car from before, making Chad decide to move further back, pretending to take a turn in a nearby alley, though he used that turn to speed up and place his bike in the street that lead to the resort, on the opposite side from the turn to the bridge that connected the island with the main land. The pickup was first to get into the bridge, that of course was expected, but when he saw the same car turning and going towards the resort, he knew something was wrong, and thus with the next car that turned there, he began to follow once more. |

At least they had some sort of plan ready for numerous outcomes. Leo's resort was probably just as safe as the club, if not safer. And he was right, who would follow them all the way there? It'd probably look suspicious and whoever (if anyone) was tailing them would surely call it quits. Leo, as a way of comforting Essie's fear of his new form, embraced her, his tall bulky figure almost engulfing hers as she trembled slightly in his grasp. As he let her go, she exhaled and let out a nervous laugh. Same old Leo, of course. Just bigger and more powerful. It wasn't that Leo scared her. The fact was, if Mufasa or Simba had hugged her, her reaction would have been the same. Probably worse. Phoenix seemed to be more impressed than anything else. No sign of fear or distrust about her at all. As Essie looked over Leo, she realized how lucky she was. She was in good hands, just like he'd said. Phoenix, the fiery redhead, and Leo, the cowboy tiger, were by her side and ready to fight for her. With a slight smile, she started putting more effort into eating her orange. By the time she was done, Chad had returned. Apparently, he found nothing for sure. Just some tourist. How he could be paranoid about that confused her. She was sure plenty of tourists came to the area. Maybe not at night though. The way Chad talked made it sound like her pursuer, if one existed, had obtained all of her information. Where she stayed, what school she went to, probably what her favorite foods were. The uneasiness started to flow over her again. Now that she was here, she felt like never leaving. They hadn't come after her with Leo, Phoenix, and Chad here so maybe the club was the safest bet instead of out there on the streets. Yet, she kept her mouth shut. None of them had steered her wrong yet and the least she could do was go along. Let them know they had her trust after all they were putting themselves through. Essie slid into the truck, once again wedged between her two guardians, and gave each of them a reassuring smile. This time, she was a little more confident. Of course he took the direction the young man had given him. He wasn't stupid enough to go the opposite direction or to ignore him right then. He didn't return to the club though. Instead, he flipped open his phone and dialed a number before pulling the car into another direction. After two rings, the girl answered the phone sounding as normal as any other person would. After five minutes of driving around and talking with no particular interest as to where he was leading himself, he flipped the phone shut again and made another turn into traffic. He'd lost his lead and for all he knew, Essie was still in the building with those two strangers. He slammed his hand into the steering wheel in frustration as his car followed all the other cars down the road. His phone suddenly vibrated as a call came through and he answered it without glancing at the number. "I told you that following them wasn't necessary..." Came the deep voice on the other line. His jaw locked and his muscles tensed as his boss spoke. "Don't worry. We'll have her when the time is right. Go home before you do something stupid. You don't want to make me angry...do you, Tyler..." And with that, the call ended. There was no need for Tyler to say anything at all. "Fuck..." Tossing his phone into the passenger's seat, he began to curse at himself over and over again. This wouldn't have happened if he just went in or circled around or something. He'd gone too far and now he lost his only chance to-- All of his thoughts came to a halt when he saw the truck he'd been following earlier. A stroke of good luck in his favor which didn't happen often. Forget what the boss said. He wasn't out of the game just yet and he'd be able to prove to him how useful and worthy he was. "Good girl, Essie," He whispered, "Lead me home." There was so much excitement ready to burst within him that he couldn't help but to laugh out loud. It must have been his destiny to be with her and bring her in. The boss was wrong on this one. Nothing stupid was being done and when he returned with her whereabouts...or better yet...with her...he'd feel stupid himself. |
