Student Name: Danielle Sophia “Dani” Desanges (Dez-anj)

Gender: Female

Age: 15

Race: Evo

Physical Appearance: Dani is relatively short and small at five foot one and 85lbs. One could almost pluck her up and carry her away. Her hair is her pride and joy. It’s light brown and always held up in varying styles—for her, walking outside with her hair loose is almost tantamount to being naked. Thick glasses frame sharp yellow eyes that look, as if they were made for glaring. Anyone who looked too deeply in them however would feel something strange, as if hinting at the presence of another, watching hungrily through her eyes. Though cute with a small button nose and pleasant lips that make her incredibly beautiful when she’s smiling, Dani can give a glare as fierce as any tiger’s and often does when faced with someone who annoys her.

She is feminine despite her size, puberty has already had its way with her, leaving her with curves and b cup sized breasts. She knows this and sometimes flaunts it, dressing up in clothes that can make men take a second glance although she is not above dressing in casual shirts and jeans whenever she feels lazy. She isn’t exactly drop dead gorgeous but her features are pleasant enough—she’s the kind of person that takes a second or third look to be truly appreciated.

If anything is noticeable about Dani’s outward appearance, it’s that her left leg from the knee down is missing. She uses crutches to compensate for this and she can often be seen doggedly hobbling along with the same stubbornness that has made her refuse a prosthetic to begin with...a long series of events however has prompted her to change her mind. She no wears a prosthetic leg, which was allowed her to reclaim a little normalcy in her life.

Personality The very first impression one gets from Danielle is that of her inherent geekiness. She is often seen with a book in front of her face completely absorbed in her own world and oblivious to her surroundings and then there is her speech which, with her slow deliberate manner. Thoughtful, she usually takes a side only after the most careful of consideration and takes a logical approach to life, which often makes her the voice of reason around friends. This hasn’t stopped her from making stupid decisions however but she does try to keep them at a minimum.

First impressions aside, once you befriend her and the initial veil of shyness drops, she is all warmth and smiles. Generally pleasant to those she likes, Danielle is can be a source of comfort, as she is a good listener, paying close attention to anything a person is saying before offering advice or comfort. She is an affectionate friend if hesitant to openly express praise or her feelings and an even more affectionate lover…if she ever falls in love that is.

Be warned though, Danielle has quite a temper and there are days when she can't help but be cranky. It’s not just bad days that set her off too, as she is quick to react in kind to things that give her headaches. She isn’t the kind of person who hesitates to heap abuse on people she feels deserves it with her scathing tongue.

She is independent and strong willed bordering on stubborn. She acts as she wills and chooses to let only the opinion of friends affect her, which makes her quite prone to reacting with apathy when she finds out someone dislikes her. She is the kind of person who takes incapacitation and gossip as a challenge to overcome or ignore until it goes away.

Though more often than not serious, she has a whimsical side to her, as well. She is not beyond letting simple things amuse her at a whim and is quick to note weird things from her surroundings. It helps that she has an odd sense of humor, often traced with the dry, the dark, the ironic and the sarcastic.

History: Born and bred in America, Dani had a relatively normal childhood. She shared a relatively agreeable relationship with her parents when they weren’t getting on each others nerves and although she had some gripes, knew that she was a lot better off than a lot of people. Her family was comfortably middle-classed and she didn’t want or need for anything and although her quiet and thoughtful nature meant she didn’t make friends quite as easily as some of her peers, she still had a few people she regarded with trust. Then the Dawn came and the world change.

Dani had thought she was one of the luckier ones when the world finally quieted down. Her immediate family was intact and she had not manifested any abilities (or so she thought) and although she had lost friends (who hadn’t?) to the violence and confusion, it looked as if she could at least rebuild her life into some semblance of normalcy.

It was when things were finally beginning to look like it was turning towards the better that Dani’s life finally changed irrevocably in an event that, like the Dawn, was sudden and dramatic. Despite her assumptions, Dani was in fact an Evo although the exact nature of her abilities remains a mystery to this day. All her obliviousness to the world however was not a shield against being found by a vigilante—a mage who hunted down Evos without discrimination.

She was on her way home from school when the mage confronted her. He sealed off the subway car she was in and attacked. She would have died then and there had The Presence not intervened. It found her, her need and fear and confusion and pounced, slipping through cracks in the magical ward and merging with her. The gift of the Vacuum did the rest, as it saturated the whole car with its flames, killing the mage and all the remaining innocent bystanders unfortunate enough to be caught in the crossfire.

The mage died, his magical ward disappearing with him. The other passengers rushed in when the flames subsided and found only structural damage from the mage’s attack—of the flames that consumed the train, no trace could be found. Dani’s unconscious body was the only thing they found, her left leg completely gone from the knee down. It was completely healed as if the injury had not just occurred to her seconds before. Maybe it was because she was so young or because they had already been tired of seeing so much death but the passengers, to their credit, brought Dani to the hospital despite prevalent anti-evo sentiments among their numbers. She was unconscious for a week and on the last day, she dreamed of The Presence who explained its gifts and the fact that they had now formed a ‘symbiotic relationship;’ it would give her protection for as long as she fed it with her abilities. It gave her no choice in the matter; it would not leave until she used The Gift of Vacuum for a third time ate her heart. With that final, chilling revelation, it returned her to consciousness.

She woke to find her parents, staring at her worriedly. She could see the concern in their eyes, as well as the fright. Her eye color had changed and they had already guessed what it meant for their only daughter before Dani could even say a word. She said it anyway. “Mom…Dad…I have to go to Azura,” was the first words that came out of her lips after waking up.

School: Azura

Year: 1st Year

Designation: Unwilling Host

Special Abilities:

The Presence

Whatever Evotelluric ability Dani manifested has long since disappeared, sealed away by the being she calls “The Presence.” The Presence is a parasite. Its origin is a mystery but it has since developed a taste for the distinct energy given off by Evos. As long as it inhabits the host, it continues to siphon off this energy, effectively keeping Dani from accessing her inherent abilities.

It is sentient although it prefers to keep silent, only having felt the need to contact Dani once in order to explain its “gifts” to her.

The Gift of the Void

The Gift of the Void is the first benefit if it could be called that. Being a being that siphons energy, The Presence absorbs energy based attacks and effects targeted at any part of Dani except her skin. Evotelluric energy will bruise and cut her skin but will get absorbed the minute it breaks through. Although this still leaves her vulnerable to cuts and internal bleeding from blunt force, it ensures that anything that doesn’t physically affect her won’t work whether it's a positive or negative buff. Evo abilities that are used to create other kinds of physical energy will work however. Fire, lightning, etc. won't be sucked off although any 'special' add on caused by evo powers would be debuffed, meaning that if an evo were to cast black fire on her, the void would automatically turn the fireball into normal fire once it's broken through her skin.

It should also be noted that although the presence tolerates magic cast on her, it does not allow her to learn any magic herself, as The Presence will eat any excess mana she tries to accumulate for spellcasting. The Presence however cannot siphon off energy from anyone Dani touches; meaning holding someone doesn’t automatically drain an Evotelluric unless they brush against something other than her skin.

The Gift of Vacuum

The Gift of Vacuum is The Presence’s defense mechanism. Upon Dani’s request, The Presence will take over control of her body and engulf her in ethereal flame that projects out in tongues as far as 60ft. around her. The tongues literally jump out like solar flares, easily reaching the limit of its range within seconds. The flame itself does not produce any heat or consume flesh but instead absorbs energy. Unlike the Gift of the Void, The Gift of Vacuum does not discriminate, whether mana or Evotelluric power, The Presence takes it all, leaving its victim gradually feeling weak and unable to use their abilities until they eventually pass out. The flame itself is a hard shell, a shield that is all but impossible to crack except by the strongest mage or Evo (and only if they throw everything they have before The Presence siphons too much of their energy). Bypassing it is also difficult. Magical and Evotelluric attempts will fail but science based teleportation and energy weapons (if strong enough) could break through.

The Presence is in complete control in this form, forcing Dani’s consciousness to subside and it’s only with incredible effort that Dani can assume control and stop it by her own will. If she’s unable to reassume control, The Gift of the Vacuum will continue for as long as it takes to suck the energy off of its victims until they’re nothing but lifeless husks.

The ability however comes with a terrible price. It can only be used three times while Dani is a host. Every time she uses it, The Presence will also exact a price from her flesh. Such is the ability’s strain on The Presence that it will feed off of its own host by claiming an arm, a leg, an eye (or both of them)—anything as long as it’s not lethal to her. The third time however will kill her as The Presence will claim her heart and presumably move on to find another host. The ability has already been used once and is the reason half her left leg is missing.

Note: The Gift of Vacuum is strictly Dani specific SLs only and no PC will ever be subjected to it without express permission by their respective owners.

P.L.E.A.S.E.D. v1.0: Poly Linguistic Enlightenment And Service Extension Device

This little device comes standard to all students enrolling at either AEA or AMTI. Using a combination of Bluetooth technology and a unique brand of communication magic, this little beauty will translate any known, human language into your native language as it's spoken with only a point-five second lag. Aesthetically, it's either blue or red pending on your school colors and clips onto the ear as if a wireless cell phone accessory. Please enjoy your stay on the Twin Campus.

Safeguard Pendant

In extreme cases where students wield dangerous abilities, this pendent is placed upon them in order to enhance the safety around the dual campuses. The pendent itself is a simple hollow circle shaped emerald no larger than a fifty cent piece attached to a gold chain. Danielle's pendant is keyed to block "The Gift of Vacuum", but cannot entirely suppress the Presence.
