I'm a time-traveler! I travel forward at the miraculous rate of 60 seconds per minute
The few moments when Leila scooted onto his lap were not the most tense of Miguel’s life. Sure, he was immediately concerned that she’d discover his problem, and he rather hoped she didn’t – although the side of him that had seen too many bad movies hoped she would and then she’d – anyway he mostly figured that he was pretty lucky already today, given who he was making out with, and just hoped she wouldn’t catch on quite yet.

To be fair, the wiggling just made things even worse. Miguel knew then that the jig was up, and he cringed as Leila jumped to her feet. And – oh, man, she looked pretty upset. Well, at least she was smiling, even if it looked like she had to force herself to do so.

He wondered, briefly, how inexperienced she was – he sort of figured, even despite what she’d said, that a girl who looked like she did must have… well… after that reaction, maybe not? Maybe it wasn’t him, but the situation in general? The thought was a little reassuring. He did feel like decidedly less of a studmuffin now though.

“Er, it’s okay…” Miguel sat uncomfortably on the log. He took a deep breath, then another, closing his eyes for a moment. Once the problem had subsided enough that he could stand comfortably, he got up as well, trying to pretend he hadn’t been… well, it wasn’t like Leila didn’t know at this point.

He rubbed the back of his head, fingers trailing through his hair. “Look, I feel like I’m the one who should be sorry here.” He glanced down at himself, then back at Leila, just as apologetic as she had been. “So, uh… sorry. It’s… not… it’s not really something I can help…” He cleared his throat after the thoroughly awkward apology, and turned, looking down the path. “So… let’s go then.”

She wasn't mad at him, she just wasn't sure how to react. Miguel probably would have been beyond surprised if Leila explained exactly how inexperienced she was. This situation might not have been quite so awkward if Leila had any experience whatsoever, but as it was she was a strange mixture of uncomfortable and the teeniest bit proud that she could affect someone like that.

"No, I know it not something...you can really control...so yeah it-it's fine."

They walked in not so comfortable silence, Leila wracked her brain for something to say that it could be more like the jog up. After a minute or too she had to say something, anything to break this unbearable silence.

"I've never done, anything like that...I mean I've been kissed before, a couple times, but neither were complete strangers..." Okay she just told him that only two guys had thought she was attractive enough to kiss, and she practically told him that her rounding of first base was a far as she had gone. She tried to recover, "Anyways, I was just caught off guard...so we should just forget that part happened...okay?"

They approached the first fork in the road. She looked over at Miguel who was standing quite a bit further from her than on the way up, but she pretended not to notice as she shrugged. She had no idea which way they had come from.

Miguel rubbed his face a little as they walked, pinching the bridge of his nose. Great. That was not the most confident ‘yeah it’s fine’ he’d ever heard, and he had a sinking suspicion it wasn’t fine. Well, that was definitely too bad. So much for irresistible. Maybe he needed a second tattoo! That’d probably help. Or some tape.

He was surprised when Leila spoke again, glancing over at her as they walked. Huh. Well, that did… actually that did explain a lot. They had stopped at the first fork now, and Miguel figured this was probably his last shot at salvaging the situation.

He took a deep breath, pinching the bridge of his nose again. Okay. He definitely needed some caffeine to get this headache to go away, but it could have been much worse. Other than that, he was generally tired – the run and everything had taken more out of him than he expected – and thoroughly settling into a grumpy mood.

Grumpiness was no good. Somehow he doubted Leila would take a grumpy response particularly well at the current moment. He knew that. He just needed to… to relax. There was a mental objection that he’d probably be totally relaxed now if she had just – Miguel decided to cut that thought off immediately.

He realized he was standing decidedly far away from her now. He took a few steps closer. She was looking away, but he went for the physical contact anyway, lightly resting a hand on her arm. “Hey, it’s okay. I’ve never really done anything like this either.” He grinned at her, trying to get that friendly feeling back again. “Tell you what. If you smile for me, I’ll forget all about it.”

He swore he could feel his teeth rotting from that line but he tried to deliver it with a playful grin, attempting to communicate that he was serious about forgetting it but also sort of making fun of him self. Yeah, she probably thought he was nuts.

There was also the problem of which way to go. Miguel was fairly sure they wanted down – which was more to the right – so he figured they could start that way. It was pretty hard to tell, but he thought that was also a slightly straighter path, which looked familiar… although he’d been thoroughly distracted.

Leila looked at the trail, trying to see if she could see any foot prints coming from either trail. Leila looked over at Miguel as he touched her arm. he hadn't done that before either? Leila wasn't even aware that was one of her worries, but the fact made her smile a little a little. It was not that she thought he made out with every girl he saw while running, but when one goes from names to lips in ten minutes, there is room to assume that it wasn't the first time it had happened.

The second part what he had to say made her look right at him a raised an eyebrow and a tiny smile. In short, she was looking at him, like he was nuts. Well, it least she was looking him in the eye again. Finally after a second or two she grinned at him with a light laugh as if she were trying to hold it back.

"Okay fine, see? A smile, but I get so little in return, that hardly seems fair." she teased lightly. The awkwardness was still there, yes, but she was doing her damnedest to ignore it. She followed him down the hill. Maybe getting back wasn't going to be too hard. Still even now, she was having trouble devoting as much attention as she should to the task at hand.

OOC- I tried to post last night, but I had a massive internet fail =/
Anyways, enjoy!^^

Those first two seconds dragged on as though time was mud and Miguel was attempting to slog through waist deep. When Leila finally grinned – and actually laughed too – Miguel grinned back, a big grin. Honestly, the fact that his ridiculous line had worked cheered him up more than his mental efforts, and made him feel, at least a little, like he wasn’t doing so badly.

“I suppose I did get more out of it,” he agreed amicably. “I should just keep in that way, but for some reason I’m in a good mood.” He grinned at her again. “What would you like in return?”

He thought the question would fluster her. Certainly he didn’t expect her to have an easy answer to it – and he hadn’t agreed to give it to her, whatever it was – but he was willing to play this game for a little while, out of curiosity if nothing else.

He swore he remembered seeing that stump with the sort of bright green mossy bit on the side as they’d been running up. It was so hard to remember, but he’d spent a little time looking around while trying to distract him self and… maybe from the other side it looked familiar? Oh well. He just hoped they were headed the right way, and that Leila wouldn’t be too upset with him if they weren’t.

Miguel was wrong. Leila was not about to get flustered again. she hadn't really thought about what she was going to say. There were a lot of things she wanted out of Miguel, but her hormonal daze and now was not exactly the time to initiate anything physical. She put her hand to her chin as if thinking very hard and, as if on cue, her stomach grumbled.

"Well, I suppose if you get me some breakfast, along with something caffeinated when we get back, we can call it even." she laughed. This was half to see if they were still on for food after and, well, she was hungry...

Leila looked around on the path, yeah, this did seem vaguely familiar. Good job Miguel. Leila didn't have much for a sense of direction, so she was about useless in trying to find their way back. Hopefully that would be soonish. She hadn't had her morning vanilla iced coffee yet. The exercise woke her up a bit, but she'd only gotten a few hours of sleep, woman wanted the caffeine

Miguel was surprised and a little impressed. He hadn’t been sure their breakfast plans were still on, but here Leila was not only confirming them, but even suggesting that he pay. Well, yeah, that did mean he had to pay, but he was pretty sure this elevated the shared breakfast to a date-like encounter, rather than just… you know… breakfast. That was definitely acceptable.

“All right.” He grinned at her. “It’s a deal. Breakfast, and something caffeinated, on me.”

They reached another fork and Miguel sighed, glancing between the different paths. Both had turns not far from the split, and he honestly could not remember which turn looked more like where they’d come from. “Hm…” he glanced at Leila. “I think it’s your turn to decide.” He said, trying to make this a little more light-hearted.

His stomach grumbled, protesting the long wait for food, and Miguel frowned down at it before looking at the paths again. He was going to eat a ridiculous amount of breakfast; he’d had two pop tarts late the night before, but hadn’t really eaten his full fourth meal, and he was ready to eat several plates of pancakes.

Leila hadn't even thought that she just made him agree to an actual date-like thing. Things were getting less awkward, and that was a big plus. She grinned at him, like she tricked him or something, then they made it to another fork. each way looked very nearly identical. This was less good. Leila tudied each way throughly. nope, no clue.

Then she sensed something. No way. She could have hugged Miguel, but she was still avoiding a lot of touching. There was another Evo. He seemed to about 40 feet away around the corner.

"There's an Evo coming our way!"

Leila'd smile returned. She motioned for Miguel to follow her as she booked it, at near full speed to find this person. It was a girl. She stood more than a foot shorter than Leila and was, to Leila's dismay, very, very pretty. She had dark red hair, pale flawless skin, bright blue eyes and a compact curvy body. Girl jealousy set in. They were about 10 feet away from her and Leila waved though her face had fell quite a bit. Of all the sort of people that could have come out here, it had to be someone Leila thought was prettier than her.

“Excellent! We can ask him how to get out.” Miguel ran after Leila, briefly surprised at how fast she was going, before speeding up to keep pace with her.

Miguel grinned, relieved, at Leila.

For a moment, he paused, trying to figure out what to do here. On one hand, Leila was so hot. On the other hand, so was this new girl. The red hair… Miguel had to admit that was a bit of a weakness when it came to light-skinned girls, although really he preferred Leila’s coloring.

On the other hand, Miguel was pretty sure folksy wisdom had a lot to say about this situation. A bird in the hand was worth two in the bush. He had Leila… well, not really in hand and he was no longer so confidence about being irresistible, but they had made out, and she’d asked him to pay for her breakfast so… Miguel figured he shouldn’t flirt too much with this new girl.

“Hey!” He grinned at the red-haired girl. “Maybe you can help us out?” He made sure he was standing pretty close to Leila. “The two of us were out running and got a bit lost. Which way should we go to head back to campus?”

He was pretty sure he’d avoided the major pitfalls. He hadn’t called her a ‘friend,’ he had grouped them together in reference to their situation. He hadn’t even asked the other girl her name although he figured he’d do that after anyway. He considered putting a hand on Leila’s shoulder or arm or something, but… then on the other hand, he didn’t want to totally alienate this new girl, and he wasn’t sure what was really going on with him and Leila anyway.

Leila was trying not to scowl at the new girl, who was obviously checking out Miguel. She was pleased that Miguel was standing so close to her and grouped them together as he asked for directions. Leila did her best to turn her smug smile into a small friendly one, but that wasn't working too well. The other girl smiled at them.

"Well, that was really smart of you two. I'm not so good with directions, but if you'd like I can just run with you back."

Leila didn't really like this idea, especially as the other girl checked out Miguel again. She knew she had no right to be a little possessive, but she couldn't really think of a way to decline. She casually rested an hand on Miguel's arm.

"What do you think?" she said with a smile and a little tilt of her head. She knew that finding their way back to the school by themselves was going to take forever, but still she wished he'd decline.

Miguel grinned at Leila when she set her hand on his arm. Oh yeah. He was pretty sure he had a bird in his hands now. That was very, very encouraging… he was pretty sure the other girl’s flirtatious looks, aside from making Miguel feel very good about himself, were making Leila a little jealous.

“Well… I wouldn’t want to interrupt your run,” he told the girl, trying to be polite but refuse nonetheless. He grinned. “I’d say, just point us in the right direction and we’ll find our way out eventually. Is that okay with you?” He glanced at Leila.

He figured that if Leila had wanted to accept, she would have… but just in case he’d left her an out. Ideally, he hoped, she’d say she did want the girl to run back with them and he’d get points for declining but also not be lost in the woods forever. His stomach grumbled again, as though in response to his decision.

Miguel wondered if Leila would be willing to make out with him again soon. Then getting lost would definitely be worth it. Besides, it was kind of fun feeling like he made her get jealous. He was starting to feel irresistible again, and glanced briefly at his tattoo, giving it mental congratulations.

Oh he was good. Miguel was just racking up the brownie points in this conversation. Leila looked at him appreciatively. The girl stretched out her arms a little.

"Oh it's no problem, I was about to turn around anyways." she was speaking more to Miguel than to Leila, and the taller girl rolled her eyes.

Leila smiled at the girl brightly when she turned to look at her, though it took a little effort. She mentally weighed her options. Be stuck with ginger midget whore for another few minutes, be lost for god knows how long on an empty stomach. As tempting as the second option was, she really didn't have a choice.

"In that case, sure, that would be great." Leila said while mentally calling her every euphemism for prostitute she could think of. They started to run together.

"My name is Stella, by the way." the short red head said again more to Miguel than to Leila. All Leila was hoping was that it wasn't too far to the school.

Miguel wasn’t sure how he felt about his luck right now. On one hand, they were running back with Stella, which definitely meant less time being lost. Additionally, Leila was giving him an appreciative look. He hoped to collect on that appreciation later.

On the other hand, if Leila hadn’t been there, he’d have flirted with Stella, and, based on the way she was looking at him, she’d have reciprocated… but, he reminded himself – bird in the hand. Bird in the hand.

“Thanks for the help, Stella.” Miguel said, with an easy smile. They were running again; the exercise made his stomach briefly all the hungrier, but he was confident it’d calm down once the exercise got his blood flowing. “I’m Miguel,” he waited a moment, but Leila didn’t introduce herself right away; her expression indicated she wasn’t exactly thrilled by Stella’s presence.

Miguel waited for the warm glow that knowledge gave him to settle a bit, then grinned at Leila. “This is Leila,” He said, to Stella. Her name rolled off his tongue with the same accent. He couldn’t help it. He just really liked saying the name.

“So, how far is it back?” Miguel asked Stella. That seemed like a safe conversation topic; a way to talk to Stella without offending Leila. He hoped. Girls were so weird sometimes.

This was a slower pace than Leila was used too, smirking at this fact. She supposed she'd be slow to if she had stubby albino legs. Okay, the albino part probably didn't make much of a difference, but Leila was looking for flaws and damn it, she was going to find them. Stella introduced herself, but Leila didn't say anything. She didn't even say anything after Miguel introduced himself, causing him to introduce Leila to the newcomer in that way that sent a chill up her back. Yeah, she was okay with being a bitch. Miguel asked her how far it was to campus. He wasn't flirting with her.

"Well, the most direct way back takes another ten minutes,"

Leila nodded and continued this slower jog in silence. It would take less time if they could pick up the speed, but she wasn't going to say anything, even she in her current jealous mode wasn't that bitchy. Stella broke the brief silence again.

"So you must be over 6 feet tall," Stella said in a sweet voice, at first Leila didn't realize she was talking to her, since almost everything she'd said up to this point had been directed at Miguel. Leila looked over at her and nodded.

"I'm 6'2, actually." Leila said in a nonchalant voice, despite that fact that this girl had just zeroed in on what she less than confident about.

"Wow, that is so cool! I have never met a girl so tall before. That's almost exactly a foot taller than me. You must tower over most of the boys. I wonder, do they get intimidated by that kind of thing?" If Stella was trying to get hit, she was on the right track. Though the tone of voice was a more than pleasant one, Leila knew she was out to hurt. Leila's face fell a little, she turned it away before Stella could see.

"Some, but I think more boys are intimidated by the fact that I have nearly reached mastery in Hapkido, than the fact that I have really, really long legs." Leila said it in a nice enough voice, but it was code for, 'Back off, I can and will hurt you' and she figured drawing attention to her legs was usually a good thing. She might be ridiculously tall, but she had great legs.

"And Apkido is...?" Stella said, missprouncing it.

"Hapkido is a martial arts that specializes in throwing, joint locks, and how to do the most damage with the least amount of force." Leila explained with a large smile. As far as she was concerned, that was a point for Leila, but this girl didn't know when to quit.

"What about you?" Stella said to Miguel in a slightly sultry voice. Leila rolled her eyes. "How intimidated are you by an Amazon who-"

"Excuse me?" Leila considered hitting for a moment. No one called her a Amazon, at least not too her face, not anymore.

"I'm sorry would you prefer 'giantess'?" Leila wondered what this girls power was that could possible make her so ballsy. Leila's jaw tightened. She could hit her, but somehow that didn't seem like a good option, especially in front of Miguel.

"You know what? I'll find my own way back. Enjoy your run." It felt like letting Stella win, but Leila knew she wasn't going to be able to control her temper with this girl around. She sped up what was a little faster than her normal speed, not even checking to see if Miguel was following her. It was supposed to be different here. She hated it a lot of the time, but at the very least, she was not made fun of.

Uh… uh oh. This was… this was not a conversation Miguel wanted to be a part of. He was between the two girls too, although he’d fallen back a little to avoid being directly in the line of fire. Uh. He’d always imagined a girl fight, even a verbal one, to be way sexier this and a lot less uncomfortable. This was mostly really, really uncomfortable.

Yeah, Stella was cute, but she was clearly way too much trouble for Miguel. Plus she – ooh, he did like her sultry tone – but Miguel wasn’t a complete idiot, even when it came to girls, and he was pretty sure anyone this much of a trouble-maker would be way more of a headache than even very gorgeous dark red hair warranted.

So, with that in mind, Miguel smiled very politely at Stella. “It was nice to meet you.” He said, calmly. “Thanks for the offer to run us back, but I think I’ll go catch up with Leila.”

He picked up speed and easily caught the taller girl, jogging next to her for a long moment. Once he was pretty sure they were out of hearing range, he said, as though discussing the weather, “Wow, she was a huge bitch.”

Leila was really and truly angry, it didn't help that she really had wanted to punch the girl. Leila's running was quite a bit faster than it was usally, but she just wanted to put as much distance between herself and that little bitch as possible. Miguel caught up to her fast enough. She wasn't completely sure he was going to follow her, especially as the little pygmy pointed out what usually scared off boys, but he seemed to think she was as awful as she did, well maybe not quite, but he did call her a bitch.

"I'm glad you thought so too." Leila said with a big grin. He really was doing very well. Maybe later they would be able to...Leila's thoughts thoughts trailed off to remember that kiss earlier. She wouldn't mind something like that again, just...indoors this time and preferably without any awkward endings.

Leila ran on, slowing down to her normal pace so she wouldn't tire out both herself and Miguel. They came upon another fork and Leila looked down both ways. She knew where they were. The two of them must have take a much longer more roundabout way to get to the base of the mountains, but they were where Leila was before she caught up with Miguel.

"We are near the school!" Leila exclaimed. It wasn't her longest run, but it was her most eventful one...ever. She was ready for some breakfast. Once again she sped up. "We have maybe 2 minutes before we are back at the Muriel Grounds!"

Miguel grinned back at her, pleased at that look. That look was extremely promising. He was pretty sure he’d played this right, at least in Leila’s eyes.

They had been running exceptionally fast, and it was a relief to slow a bit. Miguel was in good shape, but this trail was hillier than what he usually ran and his legs were sore. When one didn’t sleep, it took longer for minor injuries to heal; soreness didn’t go away after a good night’s rest because there were no good nights of rest.

That briefly depressing train of thought stopped, luckily, when Leila spoke up again.

“Excellent.” Miguel said, trying not to sound too relieved. He kept pace with Leila, pushing himself for the last bit of the run until finally they practically burst from the woods, emerging into the main campus. It was still a few minutes to the cafeteria, but at least they’d made it back.

Miguel couldn’t help grinning to himself. If he were going to get lost in the woods, doing it with a hot girl seemed like the best way to go. Overall, it had been a strange morning… but, so far, a very good one.

When they burst from the woods Leila slowed down so she could wrapped her arms around Miguel's neck in a relieved hug. They were ride of the bitch, they were not nearly as lost as either had thought and now they could eat, this was good morning indeed. She released him and began the walk to the cafe.

"Finally! I am so hungry." Leila said with a little yawn. She could clearly use some coffee too. They walked in silence the couple minutes to the cafe. Miguel even opening the door for her, when they had arrived. Leila wondered if he had any idea how well he was doing.

"I'll just get an orange, a plain bagel with veggie cream cheese and a large iced coffee lots of cream, lots of sugar." she told the boy working at the counter. She'd probably eat more later, but she didn't want to break the poor boys wallet. Leila glanced back at him, her flirtacious mood back, now that everything had worked out. She placed a hand on his arm and spoke in a soft voice with a half smile.

"Thank you for this."

Miguel grinned at the guy taking their breakfast orders. “I’ll take…” he glanced at the menu. He was so hungry he could barely stand it. “An omelette with sausage, mushrooms, green peppers and olives, two pieces of toast, a muffin and an apple. Oh, and a large coffee.”

Yes, it was a ridiculous amount of food, and it was going to be very expensive. But that was okay. Plus, Miguel was really, really hungry. Some part of his brain noticed that Leila had ordered an orange, and, as he paid, he reflected briefly on the taste of her lips. She really liked oranges, apparently.

“No problem,” Miguel grinned at her. The hand on his arm was definitely a good sign that he’d been getting things right so far. Luckily this time it wasn’t as problematic as before, although he did enjoy even that simple touch.

Eventually the two got their food. Miguel had spotted an empty booth, and led them over, setting down his rather full tray. No chairs to pull out meant he didn’t have to wrestle with that particular dilemma.

“I’m definitely glad you said good morning to me earlier,” Miguel said. It was a little spontaneous – he was just thinking again about the fact that things were working out rather well for him today, and genuinely wanted to share that. Also, he was fond of the results of complimenting her.

Leila wasn't all that surprised that he ordered all that food. She probably could have eaten the same amount, but she wasn't paying. He told her was glad she greeted him that morning and she was sitting down across from him.

"Well," she said with a smile as she sheepishly looked at her hands as they unwrapped her bagel. "I'm glad I did too."

She looked up at him as she ran a finger around the edge of her bagel absent mindfully and licking it off. She was never so glad to have woken up early in her life. On a normal day, she would be waking right now, stretching drinking her glass of orange juice and running her normal route. This was much, much better. Leila separated the halves of her bagel and took a bite.

"Well, you aren't an Evo, so what brings you to Avalon?" Leila asked between bites, she wasn't sure if that was considered a personal question or not, but she was genuinely curious. The food seemed to bringing some life back to the poor boy already, but she did note the dark circles again. What could possibly be getting him that tired.

Food. Amazing. Food was amazing. Miguel ate hungrily, trying not to literally stuff his face. He started with the omelette, pleased with the size, trying to devour as much as he could. It was so good to eat after so long and after the exercise. He got halfway through it with barely a pause and took a moment to breathe a little. Literally inhaling the food wouldn’t make him any less hungry, he told himself.

He happened to look up right as the cream cheese covered finger encountered Leila’s tongue. If he had been eating he would have almost certainly done a spit-take. As it was his brain simply shut down; by the time his systems were fully functional again she was already taking a bite of her bagel.

That just… that wasn’t fair. There was no way that was fair. Miguel’s head was still spinning a little.

“Uh,” He said, blinking. He took a long drink of coffee, trying to buy himself some time. “Well, I’m a mage, so I’m here to learn more about the branch of magic I can use.” He said, simply. He was reasonably sure that was a sentence that had made sense, although he really couldn’t be positive still.

He knew he was being vague. He hoped it was intriguing rather than annoying. The implicit question there was absolutely what he could do. He liked Leila. He rather thought he could probably trust her, but a lifetime of only telling a handful of people just left him cautious about the whole thing.

He weighed it in his mind a bit more, and decided that he could tell her. He just didn’t need to tell her everything. “See, the magic I can do – I can use spells to enter people’s dreams.” He grinned at her. “I can’t do much while I’m there –“ only partially a lie “but it’s… a family thing, I guess, this branch of magic.”

“What about you?” He took another bite of omelette. “Azura or Avalon?”

Leila watched Miguel stuff his face with some amusement. She ate her bagel much slower, savoring each bite as he told her about his magic. He could enter dreams? That was so cool, much cooler than Leila's power. She wondered if he could change the dreams or just observed, but he was asking her a question.

"Azura." she said with a little nod. Like Miguel she didn't often tell people her power, partially because of the years of secrecy, and partially because she assumed other Evos didn't like it when someone could render them powerless. Still Miguel wasn't an Evo, and he was nice to her. "I'm a nullifier, that means other Evotellurics can't use their powers around around me, oh and I can sense when other Evos are nearby, that how I knew Stella was headed toward us before and how I could tell you weren't from Azura too."

Leila shrugged. Compared to a lot of the powers here hers wasn't particularly interesting, but in the past couple months she'd grown to at least accept them as her own. She finished her bagel and peeled the orange, pulling one wedge apart and sticking it in her mouth, sucking the juice from it, as she waited for Miguel to respond.

“Huh.” Miguel looked curious. “It only works on Evos?” He took another bite of omelette. “So, for example, I could still use magic, even if you were there?” He nodded when she made that comment about Stella – he had been wondering how she’d known. His first guess had been some sort of super sense, but sensing Evos was actually much more interesting.

He’d barely gotten the question out when she started sucking on the orange. He sat back, taking the apple with him, and tried to focus on eating. Did she have any idea the effect this was having on him? This much teasing had to be deliberate, didn’t it? First the licking, now this. If Miguel’s brain were an engine, it would have been stalling out.

It had to be intentional. No one as hot as Leila could be oblivious to the effect that might have, could… could she? Even if she’d only kissed a few guys and definitely had self-esteem issues but… that was just ridiculous. He couldn’t be sure. There was no smirk, no sign that she was playing him. Maybe he just wasn’t thinking clearly. Yeah, that was definitely possible.

Miguel finally just came to the conclusion that she was good. Oh boy was she good.

Leila was completely oblivious to what Miguel thought of as teasing. That really was just how she ate her food, it didn't help that for what ever reason he was on the excitable side this morning. So Leila continued to eat her orange as she pondered the question.

"Yeah, you could and I couldn't do a thing about it." Leila said with a little laugh. That was a rather large whole in her powers. She was safe from some of the most powerful Evos for at least a short while, but outside of her fighting prowess, was completely defenseless against other magics. The orange leaked a little juice down the inside of her wrist, which she licked before it ran all the way down her arm.

"Would you like a wedge?" she asked holding out a portion of her orange to Miguel before taking a large gulp of her coffee with her other hand.

Miguel just stared. This was unbelievable, just – just unbelievable.

Did he want a wedge? Did he want a wedge? Given the current symbolism running through his mind Miguel could think of literally nothing he wanted more. No. He needed to calm down. This was ridiculous! He swore he usually wasn’t this bad. Maybe Leila had a secret second power involving pheromones. No. She was really just… that attractive.

Okay. She was offering him an orange wedge. Just – just an orange wedge. He had to go with that. Just in case, though, he absolutely had to accept.

“Sure, thanks.” He grinned, reaching across the table and taking the wedge, his fingers ever so lightly brushing hers. “You want some muffin or apple?” He’d basically devoured the omelette, but there was a whole apple and muffin still left, which he planned to consume very soon.

He ate the orange slice slowly, not sucking on it like she had been, but still taking his time.
