11/27/09 Good day all, I hope those of you that celebrate Thanksgiving had a great holiday, while I hope the rest of the world had a good day in general. Time to make some announcements about December! As you know, with our one year Anniversary coming up on Dec 4th (since we came out of Beta), the Staff has been planning some major fun games and prizes for the month to properly celebrate. FFP is also going to be doing her closing events as the Student Council President, which means the board is going to be offering a lot of great stuff this next month. I know it is darned near the busiest time of the year for all of us, but December last year was a great month for our board, and I would like to shatter those records. We, the staff, would like to take sit down, and take the time to apologize for the situation and for the recent events that have transpired. First, we are all sincerely sorry that the board went though this drama. Please believe us when we say that we never intended on hurting anybody’s feelings, and we are sorry toward those who felt wronged, disappointed, or upset in any way. Actions regarding this situation were taken as quickly as they were not because FFP had done something wrong, but because we feared for the board’s health and well being. The quick deletion of the holiday accounts were not done as a punishment, but because so many people have worked hard on this board, including you, the members, and if we were to be shut down by Zetaboard, or attacked by some unknown source, all the work done had the potential of being lost. It was a hasty decision that was made, and we realize now that it could have been handled in a different and better way. Please understand that we were looking out for the board, and not trying to hurt or punish anybody by doing this. Issuing a public apology was also a mistake on our part. Because we had quickly heard that a couple of people were hurt or annoyed by the Halloween Spam, we assumed that many more people were hurt. The apology was never meant to make a public spectacle of FFP, and had we saw it that way to begin with, we never would have requested it. Again we thought we were doing what it was you would want, and we realize now that we were wrong in this assumption. We’ve learned from this experience, as we learn from everything. This board is young, and we’re still learning. Every day. We realize now that if we were more diplomatic about this, perhaps this whole thing could have been avoided. So we will strive for this in the future, because we do care about you guys. For many of us, this board is more than just a board. We are a community and even a family. We don’t want to lose this, and we’ll fight with every fiber of our being to keep that family and community feeling. We’ll always be open and honest with you, and let you be open and honest with us, because we do care. I’m sorry if you were hurt, and I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive us. We have learned from this. While I am aware that wounds take time to heal, please remember that we need to let them heal. I will not lock any topics or remove any posts unless they contradict our board rules, so that if you still feel raw you can get that feeling off your chest. The holiday accounts will be returning in a different form. They were not immediately recreated because I genuinely did not think that just making two things reappear would call everything better. There was too much anger and too great a need to listen to new ideas on how we can prevent this in the future. Thanks to some recommendations from both Mariko and PJ, We have a pretty good system set up so that come the next event, the fun times will roll. Finally I would like to thank everyone for giving Safi her birthday wish, although it truly was not the kind of present I owe to her for all that she does for us. I still want it known that despite my mistakes, I have the best staff in the world. Thank you for your time. ~Shadow Dragon 24 PS: Belated elections will start tomorrow.
