The following text comes in way of donation from karimah of FOS, i thank you for allowing us to paste it here. Authoring is the term used for any function in palace where you need to go into "author mode" and access scripts. It seems simple.. but it is also one of the easiest ways to destroy a palace, corrupt it's pat file and close it down, and sometimes it can take the techs days to discover what the problem is in connection to corrupted scripts. So if you have not done something before or if you are not 100% sure of what it is you want to do, please ask someone who knows what they are doing. Here are some simple rules to observe when you are authoring that will hopefully minimise the risk of things going wrong. (1) Please mark your name tags with "authoring" .. e.g. authoring_{karimah}Å«Fo§» (2) NEVER enter or leave a room where someone marked as "authoring" is .. entering and leaving rooms or even moving inside the room when someone is authoring can cause severe damage .. often in the form of "blowing" (corrupting) doors and corrupting the pat file scripts. (3) The person who is authoring should not move around in the room while in author either (P4 eliminates this risk by making movement impossible when in author) (4) NEVER move from one room to another when you are in author. (5) Do NOT talk using speech bubbles when someone is in author... the speech bubbles can cause problems. To speak without the bubbles place a semi-colon before what you are typing.. e.g. ;yes, i agree (6) Please don't wear animated avs when in author.. these can also cause a corruption to the patfile and blow doors. (7) If you are in a room with others.. warn everyone first to please be quiet and not move, before going to author mode. However, as said to begin with... authoring is something that can cause very severe damage to a palace when things go wrong... so please.. don't do it unless you know how.. and ask people who do know to either teach you or do it for you... |
