For each litre of water:

  • 12 whole cloves
  • 16 green cardamom pods (crush slightly)
  • 16 black peppercorns
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 slices of fresh ginger (more if you like)
  • 2 tsp black tea
  • 2 cups milk
  • Honey

Method:

In a pot, add the spices and ginger to the water and bring to the boil. Simmer for 30-40 minutes - top up with water as you go. You can let the spices sit in the water for a few hours or overnight - it can take a little experimenting to get the flavours you like. Add tea, steep for 1-2 minutes, then add milk and heat. Serve with honey.

The mix keeps in the fridge without milk for up to two weeks, or one week with milk.

Thanks for this Sayf, I've got it on the boil as we speak! Only had 13 Pods, but should be okay. It smells lovely. Isn't this supposed to be a herbal remedy or something?

I don't know where to get all those ingredients. I'll see what my mum can do!

They're all available in the supermarket :)

If you can get Twinings loose black tea, that would be nicest, IMO.

Yeah twinings is nice. :) In England there's a chain of shops called Holland & Barrett where you can get all ingredients like that. My partner goes there to get her aromatherapy stuff but I remember seeing stuff like that too(Also they do the nicest Liquorice you have ever seen in your life).

Twinings is life :) I used to be a die-hard Tetley fan, but it's not available in NZ so I went for Twinings instead (because drinking dirty water is better than Dilmah) and now that's all I drink.
