Lots and lots of good songs! It's quite a helpful list too, because I've been looking out for some new music for ages and some of those are as good a place to start as any!

I find Joy Division very depressing. Some of Nick Drake's songs on Pink Moon are quite melancholy, too.

Antimatter - Planetary Confinement

Great album; really really really melancholic.

Edit;

Tenhi, dark folk from Finland. Start with the album ''Maaäet''.

Hurt - Johnny Cash
Nail = hit on head

That version has brought a tear to my eye.

One other song has also - by little known Kiwi icon Chris Knox's band Tall Dwarfs: Think Small.
