Anyone watch the US presidential debates today? Any thoughts? Who do you think won? If you were an undecided voter, are you still undecided? Based on the information given in today's debate, who would you vote for? Edited by Owl, Sep 27 2008, 04:02 AM.

If I was given the decision today I don't think I could justify a voite for McCain and Palin given the death and destruction that would happen at their hands from my view. I'm also not impressed with Obama at all. But if voting in the states was compulsory as it is here, I'd vote Obama... I can't tell you how glad I am to be in Australia and not have to make this decision...Nor have to live with it. |

My vote will go to McCain. I don't want America to have a weak, touchy-feely President. Obama would go into office needing tons of on-the-job-training. |

I'd rather have a touchy feely president than one who carries on going into Iraq for no reason, and wastes an astronomical amount of money on it. |

Why I don't like either. McCain: War monger. Will ride the bullshit claim "They're terrorists in the Middle East" train to the very end and will also assert his experience as a Vietname vet as credentials. Now with Palin on his side, them in office would be a ticking time bomb for world war III. Obama: Will comtinue to pump funds into Israel in the name of 'peace' in the Middle East. This election really is lose-lose. That said, I think Obama has a better head on his shoulders all round and will be a better economic manager, with the exception of palming off dosh to Israel. |

To an intellectual Obama won this debate, to a layman McCain won it. However, both men are very solid candidates and for the first time since 1992 the US has two men who could intelligently govern the country. Obama is much better on domestic issues and I think that helps him with the current economic problems. However, McCain is the guy who knows more about foriegn policy, and how to deal with other nations. But this notion that McCain will just carry on Bush's policies is pure nonesense. McCain has for the most part gone against the Bush polices on a lot of issues, and until the last year and a half when he decided to run for president he constantly went against Bush. He did vote for the Iraq war, as did most other Senators. McCain will not start another war, unless provoked. so if Iran attacks Israel, than yes there would be another war. But I dont see that happening. The middle east does have a lot of terrorist, espcially in the failed states like Palastine, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Lebonon, and even some nearly failed states like Pakistan. But most of those groups the US will not go after. Iraq is the only one which the US has directly caused. the others have had problems for years and most of those are region issues and those groups are of little threat to the US. The war in Afghanistan may need to be expanded into Waziristan in Pakistan. the Pakistanis aren't really doing anything to get those goes. Barack Obama has said he would target key Al Qaida and Taliban officials in Pakistan. That could cause some more problems, but I dont see it expanding into a war. Both candidates will support Israel, because the US and most nations in the world support Israel. |

As far as things are running now, I'm still on Obama's side, I have been from the start. I definitely think he will be the person to get us out of this deep recession. I've read up on his policies and I like what I see, especially his educational ones. As a future educator caring for the average American is what I want to see in our new leader. In short, Mccain is a liar, he constantly lies. His policies are only mirroring those of President Bush. As I see it, if you have been fine with the past 8 years you'll vote Mccain, otherwise it's time for change.

People may call George W Bush a fiscal conservative, but he's anything but. The guy wont veto a spending bill to save his life, even in Texas he wasn't a fiscal conservative. With Clinton, the surplus actually was because of the fiscal conservatives in Congress. Clinton just went along with it to get his shit done. |
