I made this some time ago. Thought I'd post it up. It's a simple glass maintitle for those which like the glossy look. Enjoy. You can do it in any version of Photoshop, and I guess the GIMP users can find their way to doing it as well.

Start off by opening a document with the resolution 400 x 30. Make a basic gradient, with reflected properties. It should look like this:

Then, set your rectangle marquee to fixed resolution, and set it to 400 x 15. Select the top part of the gradient, and in a new layer, fill it with white (edit -> fill [white 100 %]). It should look like this:

Now, make a new layer (below the layer we just made). Set your marquee to 400 x 18, and select the middle portion of your image. Similarly as done in the first layer, apply a gradient, with reflected properties. Use a light color. I have used two shades of light silver, and this is my outcome thus far:

Now, to emboss it well, add a stroke (blending properties of your layer) of 1/2 pixels depending on your color. I have used light blue, so that it blends well with the blue background. Here's my end result:

And there you have it! A smooth and sleek looking , basic glassed maintitle/H2 :). Enjoy.

Hmm... It's okay. I don't like the look much though. It's a bit too crowded.

You think? You can always decrease/increase the height to your liking.

Stupid exams.
Looks like a good tutorial. I'll try it out sooner or later.
