Euthanasia

Euthanasia- one of the worlds biggest issues!

Definition
The act or practice of ending the life of an individual suffering from a terminal illness or an incurable condition, as by lethal injection or the suspension of extraordinary medical treatment.

How Is This A Problem.
People are euthanized every day by doctors, because they are *terminal* but there is a few problems that can make euthanasia abused!

There are many definitions for the word "terminal." For example Dr. Jack Kevorkian said that a terminal illness was "any disease that curtails life even for a day." This Doctor has preformed 3 euthanasia needles and murdered 3 people! The co-founder of the Hemlock Society often refers to "terminal old age." Some laws define "terminal" condition as one from which death will occur in a "relatively short time." Others state that "terminal" means that death is expected within six months or less.
so what does terminal accually mean?
also doctors say that a life expextancy is78% of the time wrong and people are euthanized and then found out to have not been sick of would have lived through the sickness!

Another point is that doctors euthanized people to save millions in palitive care.
and also family talk the sick that will be euthanized into it to save them selves money and for the insurance money along with alot of other points i will leave for you guys to prove!
but euthanasia is SICK and WRONG! wats ur veiw?

Honestly, I think stupid people need to be euthanised. seriously, if you've proven to be a complete idiot over and over again you need to be killed. I have no problem with Euthanisia what so ever. If someone wants to die, let them die. It's their life they're wasting. We have to many people as it is.

Came off a bit harsh their. Some people do however abuse the whole euthanasia thing. Some points to consider,

  • It's against religion to do it
  • It takes away the pain
  • Its rejects the value of human life and may be seen by some as a slap in the face for the people who never existed (abortion)
  • When the person is terminally ill and has no cure and is feeling pain all the time and costing an upkeep it may be better to just let go.
  • People can abuse the right of euthanasia, i.e not coming to a common solution, people with minor diseases.
  • It stops people from commiting suicide in more gastly ways i.e hanging.

I am against it since it really rejects the value of human life.

Im not particuarly concerned about it one way or the other. But some of the fears for allowing it seem a little paranoid and presumptuous; such as it'd be taken advantage of to free beds and save money. But all things concidered i doubt a law of that calabar would have, especially with all the controversy that goes with it, major loopholes that allow that. But at the end of the day, it's illegal in Australia and will most likely never be introduced to Australia with all the religious orders that winge about it. And for those who are strongly for it, they always have the option to travel over seas where it is legal, everybody wins. (and please dont blast me on that statement with with something like 'except the victim')

Sometimes I think people have just got to let religion go! I mean seriously it surfaces in every debate or argument! People have to stop using personal beliefs as a way to sheild their views from attack. So what if euthanasia is frowned upon in certain religions, it shouldnt prevent other people from ending cruel existances. I mean take a look at altzheimers (or however its spelt) that is a horrible life.

Well said, couldn't put it better myself. Religions just overlap and cause friction where it isn't needed.

The thing is, a lot of people that want to be Euthanised are likely depressed because of whatever illness they have. It is really iffy, but if people have a very small chance of surviving and they want to go through with it, we shouldn't stop them.

If you agree with the idea of euthanasia, have it spelled out legally BEFORE you get into a position where you can otherwise not choose. You and you alone should decide what happens to you, even if your opinion changes.

Cruel, perhaps, but I would still rather have a say in the matter versus some deranged doctor telling me that I should or shouldn't stay alive much longer, due to my suffering...

Pain is pain. It is awful. But the lust for life, to be alive, especially in someone who does not believe in anything beyond death, can overcome a hell of a lot.

Are you telling me people who believe in life after death don't have the same lust for life as those who believe there is nothing to look forward to?

Wrong, those who place their faith in God can overcome leaps and bounds too. Just because I believe in God does not mean I believe I am saved, nor does it mean I'm guaranteed a place in heaven. That's for Allah [swt] to judge when I die.
I believe that I have to do as much good as I can in this world before I am worthy of anything like that. My Hasanat [good deeds] must outweigh that of my Sayyat [bad deeds]. This is hard to measure as temptation is always there to give into and I alone do not know for sure what the best deed in the eyes of Allah [swt], although everything does come down to intent, ultimately.
So it's pretty ignorant to say that a religious person doesn't have the same will to live this life as an Atheist, imo.
