"I do ceremonies for black couples right here in my house. My main concern is for the children.''
Mr Bardwell told the paper that he believes interracial marriages do not last and that the children of such unions are not accepted by either the black or white community.
It's never

for the children.

He has a point. Look at what it did to Barack Obama.

More seriously, this line of reasoning is not so outlandish in the sense at least that I have heard it used a fairly large number of times, including here on this board. I believe, though, not to the point where it has been argued that a couple should be refused a marriage certificate should they absolutely decide they want one.

Please don't start accusing me of being ridiculous and America bashing based on a facetious remark that you require clarification on.

Yes, it was in response to a fox news "discussion" where they stated that we were thirty years behind the US.

The views of fox news do not match up with the view of most of America.

Is that even an argument? I don't waste my time with fox news and their outdated racist and ethnocentrist views, so I wouldn't have known that they had stated something so ridiculous. However then you change "according to fox news" (which doesn't include me) to "according to americans" which does in fact include me as well as the majority of Americans who would reject such an outrageous claim. That is what was uncalled for, and that is what I was criticizing.

In my argument with aforementioned friend, I said that if the bloke was a minister, I'd roll my eyes and remember that it is Louisiana we're talking about and file it in the 'stupid redneck' corner of my brain, but what's worse is that this guy is a Justice of the Peace. Which basically means he is in a position of authority as mandated by the Government. If he's always had such prejudiced views - and yes, I say prejudiced, because he seems to like the idea that blacks should keep to themselves and that an adult couple doesn't have the right to make their own decisions when it comes to their kid/s - then there is no way he should be an authority in a country which has laws against racial discrimination and whose President is a 'halfie' himself  His Justice of the Peace... ness should be rescinded immediately.

A Godless life seems sweeter
Because of this topic, I"m now seeing a interracial romance ad.

Anyway, the point is that it's in the south. Which is sadly pretty much written off.
