Based on seeing how the Cybermen act in Doctor Who, I'd say they're a bad idea. However, after watching this video, and seeing the kinds of things that are possible, I think it's badass. But I'd worry about things crashing and people becoming too dependent on the technology.

You go to University of Reading?

They'll rebel. Or some chauvinist will program them to take upskirts for his site. <_<
I don't wear skirts anyway. But I'll feel sorry for the poor girls who do.

Cyborgs are awesome but probably unethical - having the rich "enhanced" far beyond the capabilities of other people would enforce some really messed up class divisions - as he said, humans could become subhuman.

While he's apparently very well qualified, I'm not sure I believe him when he says how close we are - I know there's been a lot of research, but there are a lot of big hurdles. Even if the technology was there, I'm not sure our understanding of the brain and nervous system is sufficient. I think he just might be a very hopeful transhumanist.

I just keep thinking of William Gibson's novels now. As ugly and dystopic as they are ... well, Molly was damn cool. ;)

We're not talking about something that is programmed to obey commands - we're talking about enhancing the human body with technology.
