JazakiAllahu kheyran ukthee Aezvina. ![]() I asked on AussieMuslim forums where it had been sighted after someone claimed it was, but got no response on the matter. :/ After a little more research apparently it was confirmed to be sighted in Port Hedland. Insha'Allah kheyran. I saw nothing from here, but the same poster said (for one reason or anotehr) it's impossible for the East to sight it tonight? Cloud cover. Now I'm confused. Is it Eid for me in the East because it was sighted in Port Hedland (the West)? Every other Eid I've been able to see the moon clearly myself... |

I know you don't have many Mosque's close to you, but you should get information from the closest one. That way, even if there's a split the country about moon sighting, your entire area or the area nearest you will be celebrating along with you. Or, just get the websites or email addresses of all of the Mosque's you go to and check on them/nag them one by one =D Did you get any say from any of the people you know? Usually what we do here is go to the mosque for I'sha prayer the night before. Everyone will sit around talking/putting on henna/drinking coffee or tea/etc. until the Imam announces if anyone has sighted the moon from any part of the country. If he does, everyone starts hugging each other and saying mabrook. If he doesn't, many pray Taraweeh. Or everyone just tunes in to the website. If anyone sees the moon themselves, they phone the mosque, and the mosque announces it to everyone else. So basically, if the mosque gives the heads up, we go, because that means the moon has been sighted from a credible source. I'm sure it works the same in your area =) @ Aezvina - Aw, you celebrate Eid with us, virtually =) And don't be afraid to go to the mosque. You'll make lots of friends [if you have a nice mosque] and it will be fun. |

That's so nice of you to say! I really do hope I can find the courage to visit mosque soon, I'm one of those troubled persons that worries way too much - I know I should not have fear because mosque is simply a gathering of sisters & brothers; but I get scared and confused (even by small things like going to the store or gym).. but then again I feel very fortunate that lately I've been doing really well Masha'Allah. In my heart I'll be with all of you celebrating, maybe I won't be able to show it this year, Insa'Allah next year I'll be brave enough to go to mosque Because I can't be here tomorrow, I'll say today: Eid Mubarak to everyone! Let us share hope & peace, compassion and wisdom; let's celebrate and be happy on the blessed day. |

What mosque did you go to to take shahada or become Muslim? Maybe you can start there =) Or if you want to blend in, go on Eid day or Ramadan or something where there are lots of people anyways and you can speak out if you want to or just enjoy the scene haha =) Whatever you do, best of luck. I do wish I could really celebrate with you. Either way, I hope you had a great Eid. @ Sayf - I think it goes by local [as in country] moon sighting. |

If any. Sorry, thought I'd jump in and stress that it doesn't need to take place in a Masjid. (Mine didn't.) And if it didn't then it adds a bit of complexity. Sis Aezvina. I know what you mean by being nervous of going into a Mosque for the first time. My first time was about a month after my shahada. I walked in, looked awkward, let it slip I was a new revert, and everyone was VERY helpful Alhamdulillah. I brought a non-Muslim friend along. Made it a bit easier. The second time, I met with a brother I met the first time...And then the third time, I was fine on my own. I guess whatever works best for you. Insha'Allah kheyran. JazakiAllahu kheyran. |

Hehehe. I was trying to sound as least like I was splitting hairs as I could, but I felt it was necessary to point out. |
