Should I try morning running? Considering I've broken my old tradition of "I'm awake, now don't talk to me before my coffee or I will stick your face in the grinder" need for the first cup, I've been considering trying it. I'm thinking of setting my alarm for 5:30-6:00 and immediately getting up and going. On the other hand, when I first moved in the housemates made some comment about "hope you're not an early riser!" - which I think was just referring to their habit of getting up obscenely early to shower and get ready for work. Or maybe they have loud sex early in the morning. Who knows? Mind you, that'd probably get me running very quickly. So. Give me your opinions! |

Would your going for a run affect your housemates at all? Personally I say go for it. Exercise when you first wake up is always better for you than the same later in the day, and there's a ton of benefits to being an early riser. ![]() In fact, I can't see a negative...Unless of course the final words of your post is indeed what they do. |

Heh, I'm not a morning person - even when I get up early (I used to wake up at around 6-6:30 even on my days off. Although that was partially because the dog used to decide it was time for energetic face snuggling. I miss that little shithead ) I have a tendency to take around an hour and a half to get fully with it.Exercise late in the day has some benefits - generally your body finds it easier than when you first get up, as hours of general movement loosens things a bit more than hours of lying in bed. ![]() And I doubt it'd effect them - they're always gone when I get up in the morning, and I get up from anywhere between 6:45-8:00 normally. I think I will ... if I can keep it up for a week or so my body should adjust to it! Besides, half the fun of running is basically self abuse. Might as well add "too early" and "cold" to the list of things to endure.

Apparently not! I got up at 5 (I set my alarm for 5:30, but once I plan to get up at a certain time I wake up really easily - housemates moving around was enough to get me up) and got out there. It was really beautiful - I love pre-dawn. I got to watch moonlight on the river for a fair while before the sun started to rise. I think I'll keep it up - it's a good habit to have, especially when summer hits. Perth is sooo stinking hot during summer that early morning is definitely going to be the easiest time to run. |

I have some pictures of the river from during the day from a walk - I generally don't stop to take snaps when running. I'll try to remember to upload them later.I'll upload a picture of my rather questionable fashion choice too. Charity store clearance racks amuse me to an unreasonable degree.

Yeah, I thnk its fine for younger people to run in the morning. But I saw a program on the science channel that said people that had problems with their blood pressure, heart strength or things like that increase their risk for like a heart attack or something if they run in the morning. Your body would obviously prefer running in the afternoon, but often our schedules and eyes prefer a morning run. Its actually really nice, it wakes you up and then it makes your day feel longer. So if your health is fine, there is really no problem with running in the morning. And if you're quiet I don't see you having any problems with your housemates. |

Freki, on a slow day take pics haha. It sounds all mystical. And hmm. This sounds like a good idea. I'm debating on it. But in the morning I barely have enough time to get ready and what not. I live by a lake so I could do that, but yeahhh hahah. And what Temerit said, dayum D:

While there's a few risks, they are only present for an isolated section of the community suceptible to such problems. There are actually numerous benefits to exercising in the morning, as opposed to other times too... http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/120589/why_morning_exercise_is_the_most_effective.html |
