Fear Me.
|
I have not been here in a long time. Even after getting the emails and everything. I checked my email today and there was one... I was re-interested... I came back. I was like, "Woah, this place is dark. How long has the skin been dark?" XD (This is not my rant.) I forgot my user name. I typed in the 2 or 3 that I usually use... they were all wrong. XD I went through the member list till I found it. =] I am now here. (This is not my rant.) Yesterday was my first day at a new school. A Cyber school, if you will. Called the Cyber Academy. (This is my rant.) I have to be in the lab on Mondays and Wednesdays. Mondays from 12-4, and Wednesdays from 9-4. So we can show our teachers our progress, ask for help, etc. The rest of the week is mine to keep up with my school work. If you get ahead you can take a day off, etc. If you have to go out of town your parents can call you out of your designated school days and either get ahead before hand and not do any work while you're gone, or bring a laptop with you and work while you're gone. This isn't quite my rant yet... I'm just explaining how the school works. THIS is my rant. Throughout my high school years, I've... struggled. In math, in science. Basically in all the areas you have to think. Lol, not really. Just the real hard areas. When I went to my school yesterday for my first day, they made sure we logged on alright, they said, "Go to your math classes and begin." Ok... What math class could I be in, I did Algebra 1 in 8th grade, Geometry in 9th, and Algebra 2 last year in 10th. I kind of thought Trig would be next? Because that's what they told me would be next at the high school before I changed schools. I scrolled down and realized that I'd be in Pre-Calc this year. I did the vocab, I watched the lecture, took the notes, did the little lab...and, ugh... I failed my first quiz. It's not enough that my brain was mush from the long summer, but they're putting us in school, not doing any kind of reviewing, just shoving us on a computer and saying, "Do the work." OMG. It was the same when I learned that I was in Physics! Alright... my experience from Chemistry last year was... less then pleasant... I nearly failed both semesters. That was why my parents wanted to try the Cyber Academy with me in the first place... we thought it would be a better experience for me. I didn't quite think we would be starting off the year with so much work already. Maybe start off slow or something? I didn't think it'd be like BANG BANG BANG. WORK. Like it is in the traditional schools. Ahhh, well, I have 2 more weeks to prove myself... Here's what I mean by that: The Cyber Academy does this 3 week probation at the start of every school year, where your kids can NOT miss school. They have to be there during all their designated school days. I'm in 11th grade, I go Mondays and Wednesdays. Ya know. You have 3 weeks to get up to the 70% average you need to stay at the school, you have to prove you're responsible and that you can make the effort to stay there. If you screw that up they do some intervention thingie... where they give you one week to debate whether or not it's the school for you and whether or not they should send you to a regular school. From there they keep you there or send you back to the high school. Now I'm just rambling on, but seriously, they should do some warming up at the beginning of the school year. None of us spent our whole summer doing school work!! D= I'm panicking because I don't want to go back to the high school... When I saw that I only got like a 30% on that one Pre-Calc quiz I was like WTF WTF WTTTTFFF !!!!! Why am I in Pre-Calc!? And Physics!? I'm not smart enough for that !!!On a good note... my niece was born today. Sis in law went in last night, I was texting my brother all day, "Do I have a niece yet!?" And then he sent me some pictures of the little baby girl. ^__^ I know it's long,,, blah blah blah. But it's not like anyone has to read it. Edited by Kriss, Aug 19 2009, 01:45 AM.

I read it ![]() It all sounds really intense. I'm sure there are people floating around here that can help out with the classes you're taking (I, on the other hand, would be completely useless). I know how hard it can be studying in an online environment, that's how I'm doing my Bachelor of Communications. It's hard, and you have to be disciplined, and there isn't anyone to bounce ideas off. Buuut, the flexibility makes it worthwhile. I'm sure once you get settled in you'll be fine

Is there any way to change your classes? How did you get put into classes you hate anyway? I'm like you, I'm pretty sure back when I did maths I failed every exam from the year 8 yearly exam onwards... |
