For anyone who doesn't know who the hell that is, Turing was a brilliant mathematician and one of the fathers (often called the father) of modern computing and computer science. He was an integral part of the team that cracked the Nazi Enigma code in World War 2, which was a huge help to the allied war effort. He was also gay, and when the government discovered this he was harassed, chemically castrated to 'cure' him and deemed to be a security risk.
