Connex's parent company Veolia has won the contract to build an apartheid light rail system in the
Palestinian Occupied Territories to link the illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank with Israel. The light
rail will be operated by Connex and will go through Palestinian villages and a refugee camp stopping only
in the illegal Israeli settlements and in Israel. Many Palestinian homes will be destroyed for this project
Public transport contracts in Victoria are up for renewal and Connex has put in a tender to continue
operating Melbourne's trains. We are campaigning for the state government to dump the contract with
Connex on grounds of human rights violations.

We have prepared the following:

  • 100,000 colour leaflets for distribution
  • a Petition calling for signatures
  • a dossier on Connex for distribution to state parliamentarians
  • a launch with high-profile speakers
  • a roster for supporters volunteering to help distribute the leaflets

Flinders Street (under the clocks)
[Happened]

That's terrible. I will certainly make my club members aware of this. It reminds me of the controversy over china's hydro dam building which destroyed countless villages and displaced thousands of people. This was all done for profits.
