Topic Started: Mar 23 2009, 11:54 AM (248 Views)
blue

I open things and leave them and jump back to them when I have the time to between all the other windows that I leave open. I think we should try out 30, and if you guys still feel that its too much later on, we'll lower it.

Though, if you think about it, when you're in the debate forums it can take 30 minutes alone to type out the reply :P

Er.
I open things and leave them.

It's the way to live man.
Oui, Monsieur.

I don't log out of anything, ever. And if I do have to log out, my passwords are all saved.
Err, don't go hacking my laptop now...

Yeah, I don't usually log out, and I leave stuff open alot. Usually by accident though. But I'm on for long times whenever I am on :P

the lack of logic and rational thought in this thread worries me...

I would like to know why its important for users to be showing they are online half an hour after they log off at any given time? it doesn't matter how long you're logged in for, the settings are set to show your are on-line 30 minutes after you log out regardless of time spent on the forum.

this forum seems to have some people capable of such rationality, this thread, however, screams otherwise . . .

LOL

The reason is to attract guests to join via an illusion of activity if you will. I'm open to admit that. :)
It's mainly for the sake of an obstacle for the first little bit until we can safely say there is mainly someone online. :) No one will join a dead forum. ;)

Anyway. I guess I'm happy to put it back to the default. [For Zeta it's 15 minutes]. 5 minutes seems a little short as people can leave windows open for that long quite easily.

If that's the case, there is a statistic mod you can add to show activity in the last 24 hours aside from the who is on-line statistic. I and most the other boards I go on have that 24 hour activity statistic... I can't talk for zeta boards though, I'm sure there must be? I agree that activity is a good thing...

I was looking for one in our early days and couldn't find one. But can resume the search.
