What would be a good present to get parents to be/a child. The baby won't be born until mid-2009 insha'Allah, but I wanna be prepared. Unsure of gender. |

Something to improve the safety or welfare of the individual. Example A: car seat Example B: Put some money in a savings account for the child. (the bailout bill has enhanced the interest) |

For me, the latter would be hard given the Islamic stance on riba banking. Also, the parents don't drive at the moment. I'll have to have a look in the baby isle tomorrow. I hope I find something good and creative!! ![]() Also something the parents [my brother and his fiancee] won't get from someone else. |

Ouch that's not good; I figured the savings account would have struck home. The bad thing about going down that isle is that it's probably going to be duplicated (people are always thinking baby stuff) I wished I had an out of the box idea for you, but unfortunately I don't. Maybe seeing the merchandise will give you insight. |

As practical as it is, I fear they'd get one before I know the gender. I wanna get something blue or pink.

Well, my parents always bought clothes for their friends babies, so I buy clothes for my friends babies. And blankets. =] (Tbh, I always intend to MAKE the blanket, but forget after making half a square. XD) I would have said a scrapbook made in the nine months the baby was inside, with loads of pictures of the past childhood of the baby's daddy and the mumma's, and baby pictures of everyone, and every few pages of the developing mummy and her bump, and to end the book, the first picture of the baby. But it all depends on seeing your brother and his fiancee, and co operation from them, and from your family to help in supplying pictures, etc. |

That's an awesome idea, but my brother and his fiancee actually live in the complete opposite hemisphere from me. Bristol, UK to be exact. ![]() BUT I will have that idea for in the future. Could even secretly do it to a future [insha'Allah] wife. LOL
