Seconds are the basic name for the growing race of Mutants in this World. Powers are diverse and varied, and fall under many different Categories. The General Theme is going to be a Mostly-Modern Setting, Some advances in tech, but not Huge. Kind of a '20 minutes into the future' kind of thing. The World's had a long time of being At peace, and each country licking its own wounds after the Bug War. Now, life is back to normal... so all the old problems are starting to resurface. One of the Main common features among Seconds is some affectation to the eyes. In my characters, it was originally added as just a sort of Nifty Feature, but, For the purposes of the Comic where this world will be shown, It was added kind of like a Surefire identification. If eyes aren't Permanently affected, they glow, or flash, or something to indicate active powers. This is NOT, by any means, an Order for everyone to do for their characters. Personally, I find it to be a cool effect. A lot of humans, in this world, believe that a Second without their eyes is a normal Human... which is Ridiculous... but has led to a Few cases of Extremists doing some Truly Horrific things. Some powers manifest at Puberty, some manifest at Birth, It's really up to the characters' creators. Yes: Aliens are a Known factor to the Second Chances World. It's pretty much what set the whole ball rolling. So far there are only two types of Aliens known, both found in wreckage of the Invading ships. One race is taller, Ugly, and looks like Humanoid Beetles, or Roaches. The other is known as the Butterflies, or the Fairies. They're Smaller, more frail of build, with softer features. While still highly insectoid in appearance, they were nowhere near as intimidating looking as the larger, more brutish Roaches. While this is unknown to the general Populace, The Names for these races are the Ch'Gnar (Sch-GNAR) and Ch'Turhe (SchTOOR-hay). The Ch'Gnar were the most common examples, being the ones who did all the fighting, that is known of. The Ch'Turhe were all found in interior compartments, usually huddled together, or restrained to workstations in some way. Not many people ICly will know of the Ch'Turhe. The government decided to hide the existence of these other creatures, out of a belief that some would want to try to mount some sort of rescue effort. Examples of these races MAY still be found occasionally in Game Play... Rarely. Currently, I'm not planning on any other Races making contact... If they're watching, they saw what we did to the last race that 'Made Contact'... and probably aren't too keen on trying their hand. That's not to say a Really Good App won't be considered. Just Don't expect it to be an Easy Process. Some May wonder if they can bring an Established character from another series over. My personal thoughts are 'Maybe.' They'll need to be tweaked to make them fit the theme. My own vote is Original Characters are preferred. I want to see Originality here... But not everyone is talented at manufacturing a character. I understand that, and Am willing to work with it. We DO ask that if you're bringing a character from another source that you not do so in the form of one of the better known names from that series. As stated in the rules, I don't want to see any Jean Grey, Wolverine, Rogue, or any other Mainstay mutants. If you want to play them, there are hundreds of X-games out there. I'm sure one can fit that bill. Seconds belonging to Second chances, be they Operative or Recruit, are equipped with a small device that houses a high-resolution Digital camera, a communicator, and a GPS Locator beacon. This is the Jump-box. The device is small, and disguised as a functional cell-phone. An operative may make personal calls on it. To contact the Complex, they press a concealed button to open a secret panel revealing 3 buttons, green, yellow, and red. The Green button is to contact the complex and report in. When needing pickup, Simply press the Yellow button, and Move away from where you were standing. A picture is taken, and Transferred to Rift's computer. This is the picture he uses to form his portal. If an EMERGENCY pickup is needed, Press the Red button on the back, and an alarm blares at The Complex. This way, they know to assemble a team of Combatants in the Portal Room, to repel any possible Invaders, and possibly go to give aid to the SC member in danger. The Red button is separate from the other two to prevent hitting it when meaning to hit the Yellow button. It is advised to press the button while in hiding, and not while Running. All Second Chances Assignments are preceded by a call to the Jump Box. The Operative in Question well be then transported to The Complex, Anderson's secret hideout. No one comes there except by Teleportation. The only clue is that it's a mountain somewhere in the middle of nowhere. His intelligence and ingenuity has allowed him to construct his base inside a mountain's network of caves, and power it via a means he isn't telling. He and a collection of Second Refugees live there, and work together to support one another. Despite Anderson's intellect, he couldn't accomplish all he has on his own. To the public, Second Chances Operatives are known to be members of an elusive team of Bounty hunters, body guards, and powers for hire called the S3T, usually pronounced 'Ess-Three-Tee' or 'Set'. it stands for Special Second Security Team. They are legal agents who, because of the sensitive nature of who they are, and what they do, are allowed to remain annonymous agents, and operate under codenames and handles. Even lawmakers can recognize that the powerful seconds that these people help to bring to justice are dangerous people who are often wanted for doing terrible things. It's not a stretch to think that they might target family members of the ones who apprehended them. For this reason, it is LEGAL for S3T Operatives to operate within the confines of Pinnacle City, and in several other cities. They are often contacted by police or other law enforcement when the situation demands it. It may be Legal, but a lot of cops don't like seeing their job going to some costumed punks. But better the Costumed punks' hides than theirs, after all. Edited by Admin, Oct 27 2008, 10:12 AM.
