*A small cluster of holes pierce the otherwise cloudy sky, allowing rays of light to fall upon Sinnoh at random. Sinnoh, a new frontier. The guests have been lead through the fig-tree lined path and into Lord Rahem's grand abode. This house, if it can be called that, is closer to a castle, with a size rivaling that of the Houses of Parliament in England. After several minutes, Rahem makes his appearance to the guests, accompanied by a small measure of fanfare... he addresses them in a low voice, intentionally rolling his 'R's* <Rahem> Good day to you, one and all! I am Lord Rahem Theodore Stephenson, supreme ruler of the island of Sinnoh! *one of his servants approaches him* <Servant> My lord... <Rahem> Not now! *turns back to the guests* Please do make yourselves at home, and feel free to socialize with the other guests! <Servant> But sir, that's exactly it! <Rahem> WHAT? <Servant> It's the Duke sir, from England... he's been held up, and he doesn't know where you are... <Rahem> I can't have this! Unless he's here by this afternoon, I will cut your salary in half! *turns to the guests* well... this is a bother... do any of you happen to have any ideas? <Susana> *Looks uneasy.* Who's this "Duke" we're waiting for? *Hawker blinks and stares haughtily at the other guests.* |

*Rahem lifts an eyebrow, apparently surprised... he then grins and nods, trying to usher the servant away with his hand* <Rahem> Well my dear, seeing as you aren't from that area, I guess there is reason for you not knowing... the Duke, as I referred to him, is Duke Neiman Pittsburgh, a member of the royal family of Britain, which was my place of birth. What you may be surprised to hear, however, is that he is also not human... the first ever English Pokemon Royal, to be precise. He's late as it is, but unless someone actually brings him here, he may miss my humble abode entirely! *The servant chuckles at the idea of someone failing to spot Rahem's palace of a house* |

I want it all.

Away over at Port Rahem, the sky is overcast and the sea is slightly choppy. Stowed away in the cargo of a Royal vessel, Vanilla stirs in her sleep while slowly rolling over. The seemingly distant night before was one she quickly wanted to forget. It all started when she sneaked away in the dead of night, wandering the streets lost, free until finding somewhere to sleep for the night. A crate full of comfy wool awaited her on the docks and without a second thought, she dived in and fell into uneasy sleep. Vanilla didn't know why she did it; to cause worry? To finally escape? For adventure? It happened all so sudden. She just had to get away from that place. *2 gruff men enter the cargo of the ship, taking in the sight of the hold and then muttering between themselves* <Cargo worker 1> Come on, let's get all this taken off-board quickly, this weather won't stay dry forever. <Cargo worker 2> Ach, away and shite. A've seen better wiether in mah time! This is nothin' but a cald breeze. <Cargo worker 1> Look, just help us. There isn't much cargo, and as soon as we've finished, we can give this boat the clear to go back. Best go while it's choppy, rather than risk sailing a storm. <Cargo worker 2> Pfft, human labour. They shoulda got some Machops tay do this job. *The workers slowly begin unloading the cargo, which ranges from foods to raw materials. Vanilla, who is asleep in a crate of Mareep wool right at the back of the cargo hold, awakens with a jolt.* <Vanilla> My, what have we here! Where am I? This isn't my 4-poster velvet bed... *She steadily recalls last night* Oh, no... What have I done? Why can't I see anything? *She sneakily pops her head out of the crate and instantly spots the 2 men shunting the boxes out of the ship's hold* <Vanilla> *Trying not to panic* Uh... uh... This isn't where the crate was before! *She then proceeds to cower and shake in the crate of wool. The men continue moving the cargo, without noticing. Eventually, the reach the crate with Vanilla* <Cargo worker 2> Last yin, ya ready lad? <Cargo worker 1> Yes, and as soon as we are finished, we should inform Lord Rahem's staff that the boat is cleared to go. Now, 1 - 2 - 3, HEAVE! *The men lift the wool crate, take it outside not noticing their stow-away, close up the cargo hold and indicate to captain of the ship all is clear* <Cargo worker 2> Jist need tay transport these gids to the man himsel. Wit time are they arriving at? <Cargo worker 1> No idea, and I don't know how they plan to pick up this many goods either. Probably via more pokémon. <Cargo worker 2> Aye, probably. *Fills his pipe with tobacco, lighting it with a match and putting the match out by waving his wrist* Wanna go for a pint af'ter wirk the day? Ah need tay chill... *The workers begin chatting away, waiting for the cargo transport pokémon to arrive. Vanilla remains in the crate, eyes beginning slowly to fill with tears as she comes to terms with the prospect that she is lost, alone and scared.* Edited by Jingleboy, August 23, 2009, 3:39 pm.

*from on board the ship, a figure emerges... followed by a grovelling manservant, Duke Neiman Pittsburgh disembarks... he gives the workers an appreciative nod, before turning to his follower* <Neiman> *in a calm, kindly manner* My good man, would you please keep an eye out for the escorts Rahem promised? *he then heads over and waits, only about five meters from the crate containing Vanilla... though he is unaware of her presence, and is not using Aura sight... he can almost feel her sadness, and is visibly uncomfortable because of it* |

*The workers acknowledge and greet the Duke and continue chatting after he turns away. About 5 or so minutes elapse and four Machoke arrive, holding up a single square of thick wood by the corners. They slowly walk over to the crates and lay down their wood-support and await further instructions* <Cargo worker 1> These must be the transport these crates were promised, eh? <Cargo worker 2> Aye, bout' right. *Both the workers greet the Machoke crew, indicating what needs to be lifted and after a short time of arranging and sorting, the cargo is neatly sorted and ready for transport. Vanilla feels the shakes and bumps of movement, but doesn't dare to look out of her box.* <Cargo worker 1> With that, we accompany these Machoke to Lord Rahem's manor. It's not too far from Port Rahem if I recall. <Cargo worker 2> Na, 15 minute walk max. *Workers get ready to leave on their journey* |

*Meanwhile, in the kitchens at Lord Rahem's spectacular manor, a clamour of crashing pots and pans rings out, followed by frantic squawking. Wild wings and flapping feathers knock already-prepared dishes from their podiums, as the manic, panicked Farfetch'd makes a bid for freedom. *Not far behind, a violently swearing Head Chef scrambles to keep up with the main course, cleaver in hand. *Farfetch'd sees his escape; a waiter dressed in a prim black suit pushes through the ornate kitchen doors, and in a cloud of already dislodged feathers, the duck-like pokémon dives between the waiter's legs, tripping him, but making his escape into the main halls. *With a squawk of triumph, Farfetch'd flutters away, making himself scarce and out of reach of the angry Chef by perching upon an ornate chandelier. From this vantage point, Farfetch'd can see the whole of the dining hall below. Letting out a sigh of relief, Farfetch'd starts to preen his ruffled feathers, lingering for a moment on his lack of tail feathers, and then letting out a quack of dissapointment at losing his much-loved leek.* <Susana> Why should I care for some far-off royalty? *She smirks, stroking Hawker.* Edited by PixelMage, August 23, 2009, 10:19 pm.

*Rahem frowns, his eyes narrowing* <Rahem> My dear, you seem not to understand... he is a priority guest who comes from the country that I receive most of my funds from. Simply put, if he has a bad time here, I will suffer for it, and in turn, everyone else will, including you... that is why you must- *he is cut off as the commotion from the dining hall echoes through the room they are in* <Rahem> One thing after another! This is ridiculous! *looks at Susana* just give me a break and bring back that bloody Lucario would you? he'll be waiting in the docks... in the mean time, I have a problem to deal with! *storms off towards the dining area* *meanwhile, Neiman begins to relax as the negative emotions coming from Vanilla become further away from him... he sighs and turns to the human workers* <Neiman> Have any of Rahem's staff been about here?... I was never given his address, but he promised he'd send someone to pick me up... |

*The workers turn round and look at Neiman* <Cargo worker 2> Wit? I ken wan thing bout Rahem, and that is that he thinks he is braw. Grand. The cat's PJs. He is probably so preoccupied wi his own voice and has furgotton all bout ye. <Cargo worker 1> Oi, watch it, Rahem pays our bills! *Cargo worker 2 slightly rocks his pipe in his teeth, then continues* <Cargo worker 2> Aye... "bills". Ya ken that most of ma money go ta- *He is cut off by his fellow worker, talking over him* <Cargo worker 1> -I'm sure he hasn't forgotten, but I have no idea on transport for you. It's not a long walk, so you might wanna use your legs. We are heading there with these Machoke *Jabs his thumb to the bunch of Machoke in the distance, who didn't stop and wait for the human workers* so you are free to tag along if you want. *Vanilla finally summons all her courage and sneakily slips her head only slightly out of her crate-prison. She notices the distracted humans and Lucario quite a distance away, caught in conversation. In that time, Vanilla also notices that she is moving at a relatively decent speed towards a cobbled road. Timing it well, she jumps out of her crate and springs behind some other cargo which is being carried. Upon not being noticed, she runs towards the direction the Machoke are heading and jumps off, landing and rolling in front of them. As all 4 Machoke stop looking rather bewildered, Vanilla takes that moment to run right into the tall grass and out of sight* <Cargo worker 1> Huh, looks like the Machoke have stopped. Guess we should really get a move on! Edited by Jingleboy, August 24, 2009, 12:24 pm.

*Neiman nods, and starts heading in the right direction... as he walks along, he can sense something strange is going on, and being a member of the royal family in a foreign land, he doesn't want to take any chances, so he activates his Aura-Sight... it's only a matter of time until he spots Vanilla, despite her cover... however, he doesn't realize that she's anything more from a mere wild Ampharos. He tells the Machoke to go on ahead as he kneels down in front of the tall grass where Vanilla is hiding* <Neiman> *talking in a hushed voice* there there... it's alright, don't be afraid |

*Susana rolls her eyes.* <Susana> I'm not one of his servants to boss around... *She thinks to herself.* However, I'd rather be outside than in this stuffy house with it's stuffy guests... *She smirks, and whistles for Hawker to follow her to the door. As soon as they've been let out by some prim butler, Susan hops upon Hawker's back and they take off; heading above the pathway looking for signs of the Duke.* |

*Vanilla looks up at the giant figure towering over her, while she is on all 4's cowering in the tall grass. She begins to flash the beacon on her tail threateningly at her accuser* <Cargo worker 1> Hmm? There seems to be something going on over there. *The workers walk over to the holdup* <Cargo worker 2> Wit's the problem here, then? |

*The Duke doesn't seem to fully understand Vanilla's warning, but at the same time, he can tell he's only serving to scare her more... he's distracted by the Cargo worker however, and takes a step back, standing up again to talk to him* <Neiman> I'm awfully sorry to cause a disturbance, but I saw this poor thing in the tall grass, and it's fear is almost palpable... I was just thinking about taking it with us, fixing any injuries it may have... *He turns back to Vanilla* don't be afraid, it's okay... *He attempts to calm her down, realizing that she won't understand mere words alone... meanwhile, just before Susana goes to take flight, Ilys the Floatzel merchant runs out and shouts to her* Wait, wait up! it's important! |
