High above the clouds that cloaked the ground an airship flew majestically, Dawn engines roaring. This ship, although neither largest nor fastest of its kind, was still an impressive sight to behold. It was mainly a cargo ship, carrying raw minerals and slaves from the planet below. On the upper decks, civilian passengers, not concerned with the happenings of the ground, flew from city to city. The first cities to be built were those on high ground; human settlers from Earth arrived to find an already-occupied planet which they named Mirius. Although not ideal, it had important features such as oxygen, water, animal and plant life. The only problem; the Smog. A layer of dense, noxious cloud hugged the planet’s surface. Humans could not survive long below the clouds without breathing equipment; the fumes, over a matter of days, damaged lungs and worked their way into the blood stream, and without medical attention, resulted in death. Luckily for the humans, the planet already sustained at least one sentient species; the Mirions. Odd creatures, to humans at least, travelled with large kangaroo-like legs, and three-way jaws, harking back to their trilaterally symmetrical origins. They possess immunity to the clouds, as well as the ability to “see” further through the Smog with their heat-sensing whiskers. Populations of the “uncivilised” creatures became slaves to the humans, forced to work in mines and farms on the planet’s surface; not needing the expensive equipment humans need to breath there. This cheap labour supplied the mountain-top humans with the materials they needed to expand their civilisation. Soon, towering cities suspended on stilts; marvels in engineering and architecture, and others that were built and expanded haphazardly, grew above the clouds, each with their own people and culture. These individual cities, like floating islands, were supplied with food from the ground below, and moved between cities on Energy-powered airships. The Energy, the humans claimed to have invented. Dawn and Dusk they called it, each weak to each other. Special devices filtered this energy from the atmosphere. It is everywhere, invisible but powerful. The humans used it to power most things, built guns and weaponry, even to power floating cities, that seemed to float upon the clouds themselves. Some of the older ships still used steam, and there was still a thriving trade in mining coal, and other materials from Miruis. However, the Mirions that were not happy with many of their own people becoming slaves to the humans. At first, they did not have the knowledge or the technology to combat their new overlords, over the years, slaves and workers escaped, and the Mirions salvaged human technology, and gained the power of the Energies from the humans. Some tribes and groups gained the ability to fight back. This created a new time of tension for the humans, as the Mirions hijacked ships and even invaded cities, not fighting for equality but for eradication of the creatures that came from space all those years ago. The airship shuddered, unseen a smaller, less majestic airship broke through the clouds behind it, cannons aimed at the larger one. Sounds of Energy gun fire, explosions, the large ship, helpless to the ambush, tumbled into the clouds below... There were few survivors of the wreckage, the ship crashed into the dense jungle that covered much of the planet below the Smog. Those Mirion slaves that did survive, most took their chance of freedom and escaped into the jungles. *Kadar pulls his sister Darka from beneath the smouldering wreckage. She stands up, if not slightly wobbly.* <Kadar> You alright? *Says Kadar, looking worried.* <Darka> I'm fine! *She coughs.* <Kadar> The others... Ran off. We've got to get away from here. *He looks over at a pile of rubble not far away that has caught alight.* <Darka> Where to? <Kadar> I don't know! Just come on. *He grabs his sister's arm and they hop away from the wreckage.* *Miranda drags herself out from below the rubble, she winces as she tries to keep pressure off her left arm. She is already wearing a gas mask that she put on at the first signs of emergency.* <Miranda> I think it's fractured... *She mutters to herself, then coughs. She crawls behind a large piece of metal propped up against a beam of some kind. Mira takes her backpack off her back; she just managed to grab it as the alarms rang on the ship. With some difficulty, she manages to splint her arm. She then promptly passes out from stress and pain in the shadow of the metal sheeting.* |

* From under some rubble Van drags himself out he looks to be in some pain he's luckily wearing a gas mask he grabbed when the crash started. He has some bits of metal stuck along his arms. Both his forearms are cut they are bleeding a bit his left leg is in pain he's not sure if it's broken.* <Van> Great this is just great. Hello did anyone else survive? *Van slowly gets up and tries to keep weight off his left leg. He can only stand for a little while before having to fall to the ground.* <Van> Dammit I can't even stand on my own! Well on the plus side I pretty sure it's not broken. I need to find something to wrap up my arms. Edited by Vangar, May 7, 2009, 9:03 pm.

*After taking a short time to come to and realise what had just happened, Kayli tries to stand up but is weighed down by ship debris* <Kayli> Gotta fix that seat... Gotta fix... Huh? What? *Kayli looks around, noticing the wreckage of Cargo Ship 21 all around her* <Kayli> Aww hell, the higher-ups will not be pleased about this out come. *Trying not to think of the higher-ups reactions, Kayli tries to move, but suddenly becomes aware of the debris on-top of her chest and thighs* <Kayli> *Thinking to self* Well, I have a probable chance of waiting here to be rescued but I could potentially be the only human survivor, thus creating an undesired situation of waiting here with no outcome. If I wait, I might be waiting forever, else being inactive. Putting my trust into an unknown factor is rather risky on it's own. Oh cripes, yeah, and the smog. That pretty much means It'd be very irrational to just lie here and wait. However, this debris is quite heavy and unstable... I should be able to push it, but having said that I'd probably sustain some injury. The injury sustained would probably be less that that of waiting here and letting the smog enter my lungs while not being active. I guess that means I should use shorter breaths to stop the smog staying in my lungs for a long time. If the smog does stay in my lungs, it will result in falling ill much faster. For Earth's sake, didn't they have emergency gas-masks IN CASE this happened? Well, no point searching in this mess. Guess the best solution would be to lift this debris... *Kayli firmly puts both hands under the debris, and pushes firmly, trying to tilt it to the right. <Kayli> UUURRRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHH! *Debris is successfully lifted, but results in badly cut hands* <Kayli> Ow ow ow ow, that was rather mis-judging of me. *Wipes cut hands on vest, and due to this then notices that her jacket is missing* <Kayli> No jacket? Oh, brilliant. I need to find my jacket! Where did I leave it before the crash? I think I gave it to one of the cretin mirions... Bah, guess I just gotta find it. *Slowly stands up, and begins scanning the scene for her black jacket* Edited by Jingleboy, May 8, 2009, 9:47 pm.

*Darka pulls at Kadar's grasp.* <Darka> Can you hear that? <Kadar> What? <Darka> Someone was shouting. <Kadar> They're probably trapped. It'd be best to escape... <Darka> We can't leave them! Nuh-uh! *She drags her brother in the opposite direction, to the source of the shouting. They look over a outcrop of rubble and see Van trying to stand. Darka leaps over the rubble and hops up to Van.* <Kadar> Wait! *He hops out too, but it's too late to hold his sister back.* <Darka> Hey there, are you alright? *She says to Van.* |

*Darka is pulled back just in time by Kadar.* <Kadar> Idiot! *He shouts and hops a distance away, pulling Darka along. When they're a safe distance away, Kadar and Darka watch Van.* <Darka> Hey I wasn't gonna hurt ya! *She shouts.* |

*While searching for jacket, Kayli hears people talking in raised voices a few yards away* <Kayli> Oh? Hello? Anyone or thing there? *Puts hands at the sides of mouth and begins yelling at the direction of the voices* <Kayli> *Thinking to self* Ack, I should really check to see if there are any other survivors, but I really need my jacket... I guess it'd be more logical to find others first, it means more eyes to look for my jacket. Just hope those ship engines don't explode and set my jacket on fire.... No, think positive. *After not bothering waiting for any kind of response, Kayli begins trekking in the direction that the voices came from* Edited by Jingleboy, May 8, 2009, 9:48 pm.

<Kayli> ...Hmm? *Places fore-finger and thumb to adjust eye lens, as force of habit when thinking. The lens is surprisingly not broken from the crash* <Kayli> Anyone here? I feel like such a bumbling idiot it's quite su- *Stops, and notices a trail of blood smeared over some wreckage. Kayli squints at crimson mess and tries to locate the source, which soon enough, she spots a crawling figure* <Kayli> Hey! Excuse me! You appear to be uhm... bleeding! Wait... Van? Is that you? *Comes to Van's aid* <Kayli> Van? Van! Speak to me! *Prods Van with foot* |

<Kayli> Mask? Ooh right, yeah. Er, I couldn't find one... yet. Wait, don't question me, cretin! You seem in bad enough shape as it is! *Lends Van a hand* <Kayli> You can stand if I support you, right? The more humans the better, I feel. Are we the only survivors? I've not seen anyone else. |

*With Kayli's help Van gets up and hops on his good leg.* <Van> Don't ask Me. All I saw was a hallucination besides you. That reminds me Kayli. I have a pistol on me you should hold on to it if any animals come. You should go find a mask though. There should be some in the rubble. I'll be fine once I wrap up my arms... And when my Leg heals. |

*Lifts Van's left arm over her right shoulder slowly, making sure not to cause any more damage* <Kayli> Animals...? Ooh, right. Well, I doubt they mirions would do us much harm, but I guess in their natural habitat in this smog-filth. We aught to take some precautions. *Takes Van's pistol and puts it on belt* <Kayli> This thing fully live and loaded? Been a while since I was given a gun. Life is full of surprises. As for mask, that can wait. As far as I know, it takes a while for the smog to do any damage, and I'd rather not be hindered from searching just yet. First, we need to focus on finding my jacket! Oh yes... and uhm attending to your wounds. *Begins walking over the wreckage supporting Van, looking for any adequate materials that could help* Edited by Jingleboy, May 8, 2009, 12:16 pm.
