2 cups of cheese sauce(see recipe below main recipe) 1/2 lb. of macaroni, cooked 1/2 cup of sharp cheddar cheese, grated 1/2 cup of freshly made bread crumbs preheat oven to 375 degrees. Butter or oil a 1 1/2 quart baking casserole dish. Put macaroni in the casserole, poor cheese sauce over, and mix gently with a fork. Sprinkle the cheddar cheese evenly over the top, and spread the bread crumbs over the cheese.(sometimes I throw a handful of grated parm over it too) Baked uncovered until the top is golden and the sauce is bubbling, about 30 minutes. Cheese Sauce 4 tbs. butter 4 tbs. flour 2 1/2 cups milk, heated salt ground black pepper 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese a pinch of cayenne pepper or a shake of hot sauce Melt butter in a heavy bottomed sauce pan. Stir in flour and cook stirring constantly, until the paste cooks and bubbles for a bit, don't let it brown. (about 2 min.) Add milk and continue to stir until the sauce thickens. Bring to a boil. Add cheese, hot pepper, and then salt and pepper to taste. Cook for 2 to 3 mins. more. |

finally got around making this, it was okay, bit greasy to our taste. Usually we put cheese sauce only on lasagne. Hubby liked it with extra cayenne pepper |

adjust it to your liking I am glad you tried it! My boss made baked mac and cheese for the christmas party...he did it with layers of plain noodles, and shredded cheddar, and just enough milk to keep it from being dry, salt and pepper of course.
