1 lb. hamburger 1/2 lb. sweet italian sausage 2 14.5 oz. cans of diced tomatoes 2 14.5 oz. cans of tomato sauce 1 lg. onion chopped 3 cloves of garlic chopped fine, or grated 1 lg. or 2 small bay leaves 1 tsp. oregano 1 tsp. basil 1 tsp. parsley flakes 1 1 lb. box of macaroni, (rotini or penne works good too) 2 - 3 cups of water (gotta eyeball it) parmesan cheese, grated brown the hamburger and sausage together until no pink remains, an a large stock pot or pan. drain fat, and return to pan, add onions and garlic and saute for a few minutes. Add diced tomatoes, then sauce, and finally spices. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 10 minutes. Add 2 cups of water, return to a boil and add the pasta. Stir occasionally, and cook until the pasta is done, add more water if the sauce gets to thick while cooking. Remove from heat and add a good handful of parm, and stir, then salt and pepper to taste. ** spice measurements are approx. I do to taste. |
