Ok to be honest it's not really a quiz, but starting on monday (so in 2 days time) I will be putting up a number of riddles from the 1820's - 1830's in this topic. (so the answers might not be modern) Unfortunatly there are no prizes and some of the riddle's posted might be fairly tricky... if you think you have the answer PM me and I will tally the results until the 'competition' is over. There are 11 riddles in total and I will post: 1 riddle (a day) on monday - wednesday and 2 riddles (a day) on thursday - sunday Again it's just for a bit of a laugh and to test your minds a little bit and everybody is welcome... Have fun with the riddles ![]() Duke Daniel Baldwin of Alora Edited by Daniel, Jul 13 2008, 09:53 AM.

Ok just a few things to remind you of before we get started. 1. these were riddles from the 1820 - 30's so the answer might not be something modern. 2. Pm your answers to me, I will keep a tally of who gets what right and at the competition end time (see 1st post) will see who's gotten the most right posting the results up here. 3. Have fun ![]() OK so let's start with the 1st riddle then As I was going over London Bridge, I saw something in a hedge. It had four fingers and one thumb and was neither, fish flesh, fowl nor bone. |

I never was, am always to be; none ever saw me nor ever will. And yet I am the confidence of all, who live and breathe on the terrestrial ball. |

I am taken from a mine and shut up in a wooden case, from which I am never released and yet I am used by almost everybody... What am I? What has got eyes but never sees? What has got a tongue but never talks? What has a soul that can't be saved? |

My back and belly is wood and my ribs are lined with leather. I've a hole in my nose and one in my breast and am used in the coldest weather. What am I? When force or strength cannot get through; I with gentle touch can do; and many in the street could stand, were I not as a friend at hand. |

What shoemaker makes shoes without leather, with all four elements put together? Fire and water, earth and air; every customer has two pairs. Use me well and I am everybody's; scrath my back and I am nobody's. What am I? |
