This thread is simple. Exactly what "Darker" games, books, movies, roleplays, or quests have you played, and liked? For example, I've temporarily dropped Valkyrie Profile 2 to play the Witcher, which has a much darker feel. And it's a feel that I personally liked. Another example is the mod Blood and Mud, which is in my opinion on of the best mods for Oblivion. Again, it has a darker ambiance. So, what are some of the dark games yall are playing? Also, who has played the new Zelda Twilight Princess? What is everyone's opinion on the darker feel of the game, of which is unusual compared to the rest of the series. |

I played the newest zelda, great game, i loved the feel being the wolf and what not. Great game highly recommendable. Hm dark games...the dark brotherhood quests in oblivion where pretty "dark" i guess. ah and the Splinter Cell game has a dark feel around it. When i think of more i'll post them. ;) |

I liked the newest Zelda too, and I think it's one of the better ones thus far. I'm the weirdo in the Zelda series, as I think that Majora's Mask was a great title as well, and Twilight Princess seemed to carry a similiar theme. The Dark Brotherhood quest certainly did carry that dark them as well, and they were probably the best quests in the game. I think they were even better than the main quest! |

yeah i agree with that whole post. As for another "Dark" game i would go with 2 more off the top of my head, Ninja Gaiden, and the duel between me and you right now lol. |

Oh I'm proud of my first post in that thread; probably one of my better fight scenes that I've written so far. I remember two years ago I sucked at writing fight scenes. |

Yeah, Ninja Gaiden is one I thought had a somewhat darker theme in. I haven't gotten too far in the DB quests in Oblivion, so I can't say how dark they truely are. I definitely enjoyed the later Harry Potter books with the darker theme and mood more than the first few, which seemed...happier I guess would be the word. |

Well I played the last Zelda (the whole serie in fact) and I think the "dark" feeling of it kind of make you feel the game is epic. For exemple. When Link ride his horse and encounter dark, ugly orcs (the first horse battle i think) in an open field, it has epic proportions since you feel like "the" hero. The only one who can bring down this darkness :) Dark games I played...well there is Resident Evil (0, code veronica, nemesis and some more), Parasite Eve, Gears of war, Doom, Quake...and probably more :p As for the dark brotherhood quests, I think bethesda feared to be too brutal in any of their quests. In DB you don't really feel like a murderous fellow in my opinion. Everything surrounding is still simpatic (well the people and the contexts, of course the bodies and blood around you isnt simpatic :p). IMO the DB questline lack of depth. |
