My Gaming rig – and also work rig and everything else rig.

Elvira Mistress of the Dark.

So named because of her power to leave me in the dark when she quits on me. - This has happened several times. The last, when I was measuring her +5volt line with a scope and dropped the lead to answer the phone. The probe which was attached to a +5v pin on a cable dropped and touched the chassis while she was running a test program. It melted the 5v wire into a 12v wire, caused smoke and a terrible stench. Killed the Power supply and Motherboard. But the hard drives survived. It took over a week and quite a bit of money to revive her.

Specs as of 5/18/2008. These are subject to change at any time.

Case: Lian Li 60B. Aluminum. Much modified and with several more holes than original.
I especially like the slide out motherboard tray and case top fan.
Power Supply: Cooler Master Extreme Power 600W. Replaced the Enermax 465W with the flaky 5 volt line I smoked.
Motherboard: Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe – this was designed to take advantage of Nvidia SLI
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 Dual core, 2.6GHz.
Ram: 3 Gig, cheap DDR400
Audio: Turtle Beach Montego – with onboard audio disabled.
Video: Nvidia GeForce 7600 GT. 256 meg (this will probably be my next upgrade)
3 hard drives (used to be 4 but I moved one to another computer to replace one that failed)
Monitors: 20” Acer 1680x1050 & 19” I-Inc (the I-Inc is poor quality I had one fail after a year. Barely out of warranty)
Printer: HP Officejet 5610 All in one – Printer, scanner, fax & copier. Very handy, but eats ink cartridges. I print most things at low resolution to save ink.
D-Link cable Modem. My local cable Co. hates that I don't use their box.
1 TDK DVD-RW drive – I used to have 2 but I gave one away.
Keyboaed: Logitec wired media keyboard
Mouse: Microsoft wireless Intellimouse. The batteries last about 8 months on this.
Operating System: MS WinXP Pro SP3. I will probably bite the bullet and change to Vista with the next Motherboard change.

All of this is on a heavily modified desk that I redesigned to fit the way I work.

Pics to come.

Man do I love Lian Li cases; why can't I have the slidable mother board tray?

Anyway, nice rig Ben!
