You are trapped at your house the day the beta of a new game; Sburb, is supposed to arrive in the mail. Little do you know, your planet is completely doomed. You and all other players must work toward the common goal of "winning" this game. However, the only contact you have with other players at first is the internet. You will have the help of your Sprite, Guardian, Exiles, and if you're lucky even Agents. You will use the tools given by a partner player from the server copy of the beta to send your house to the Medium where you will be able to really begin.

That's probably the most brief and nondescript summary I can give you.

Major Game Elements:

Grist - Grist comes in many forms, especially the most common form known as Build Grist. Grist is used to create and alchemize items, and more prominently to build and modify your house with the help of the server player. Build Grist is given out with the least for the first player, and increasing values for each new player with its own value as the current maximum until the player manages to level up and increase the maximum.

Alchemizing - This is a process carried out by several tools the server player builds onto your house. The first thing you should be doing is creating a special item by using a pre-punched item card in the Totem Lathe. The player must figure this out in their own way. When taking a rod of Cruxite from the Cruxtruder, you may place a rod into the totem lathe which is then carved to match what is punched in the card. The newly carved rod is placed onto the Alchemiter to produce items. This is important to know for the first item on the card.

Alchemizing items is slightly different, as you must use a Punch Designix to punch Sylladex cards with Capthalogue codes. These punched cards can then be mixed with the totem lathe to design new item rods. To combine items you can either put two cards into the Totem Lathe, punch the same card with two different codes, or both.

Sylladex - This is what you will use for your inventory. Usually in order to even use items you will need to Captchalogue them to your Sylladex. Your Sylladex works by whatever Fetch Modi you currently have. This is important, because taking and holding items will usually rely on which Modus you are currently using. A basic Modus like the Stack Modus will allow you to take as many items as will fit into your maximum cards, and then be able to use the item at the top, and if you take something new with a full deck, the final item will fly out. There are, however, all sorts of data structures to base your Modi on, and more useful and fun ones usually cost some type of money.

Captchalogue - These are the cards in your Sylladex. These are also the cards you will have to punch to alchemize. When you Captchalogue an item, it will remain in the card as a picture and an eight-character Captcha code will appear on the back. These are also the codes you will need to type in the Punch Designix to punch it, remember this. You can also, incidentally, Alchemize new Sylladex cards as well as find them in your environment.

Strife Specibus - This is your weapon type. If you add a weapon you have captchalogued to the Strife Specibus, that will be your weapon type. It is difficult to alter your Strife Specibus, and it is currently unknown how you can, unless you break or fix the weapon currently equipped.

Cruxtruder - This tool has a clock, which only displays when the machine is active. To activate the Cruxtruder you or your server player must bash the top really hard. The clock will display and count down to when a meteor will hit your neighborhood, to save yourself and your house of course you must bring it to the Medium. Out of the top of the Cruxtruder when activated will come a Kernelsprite. You must also use a wheel to crank out rods of Cruxite for your different Alchemizing ventures.

Kernelsprite - This is a funny pulsating round thing that will follow you like Navi in Zelda. It will not say "Hey Listen!" instead it will pump out some cryptic nonsense that you can't understand unless it is prototyped more. Prototyping a Kernelsprite is easy -- toss something of some kind of ironic plot value into the sprite. It will then take on some personality, but will be somewhat useless until you enter the Medium and it becomes a Sprite. Prototyping the Kernelsprite before entering the medium will also give these same characteristics to enemies throughout the Medium, the most common being Imps.

Sprites - These are much more important. After you enter the Medium, your Kernelsprite will become a functional Sprite. These new Sprites will have special characteristics depending on how you prototype them. If one of the items it is prototyped with was once alive in some form, or has any character at all, the Sprite will be able to talk to you. However it can't reveal everything about the game at once, though it will give you vague hints to guide you along.

Sprite Support - More importantly, the Sprite will aid you in Strife. Sprites can attack enemies with beams that have properties of what you prototyped it with -- such as a dead person will be able to move objects with the beam like a ghost would, or something related to the object could shoot out to boost attack power. They also have a healing beam that will restore the player's health, which also gains special prototyped properties.

Guardians - At first glance this is just an ordinary parental figure, such as a mother, a father, or even a brother - in rare cases a demon even. The Guardian has, however, a very important part in the adventure. Often the Player will be uneasy about their Guardian, which is natural. This usually leads to the Player's first Strife sequence, although at the beginning you will not be nearly strong enough to defeat the Guardian. Part of the adventure's goal is to make the Player accept the Guardian as an ally. The Guardian will often seem to have an interest in something completely ironic to the player's interest, which the player must claim to absolutely hate. For instance if the Player loves RPG video games the Guardian would then collect a lot of tabletop Role-Playing sets around the house or something that the Player would claim to hate.

Several things about the Guardian should often stay true: they are extremely powerful, they care a lot about the Player, they don't actually like the things they collect around the house and only get them because they believe the Player enjoys it. Of course it's up to the player to realize all this, and usually it won't happen right away. When you enter the medium your Guardian will usually venture off to do things that help you later on. Also, aesthetically the Guardian will be lacking some facial features -- it isn't clear yet in the story what significance this holds.(though it has been jabbed at so I'm being careful here)

Exiles and Agents - These are people that hail from a pair of warring planets. These people have carapaces though are still for the most part human shaped, and are either completely white or completely black depending on what planet they hail from. Agents are people with significant power in the government and usually wield greater strength than normal foes. Exiles can be any mix of the people from each planet and are actually years in the future of the player. The Exiles have been sent to the ruins of the player planet to repopulate it and will also help the players by issuing commands in a Command Terminal, which is a lot like a computer with a screen that always follows the player. In short, these Terminals are within a facility grown from the object that was first alchemized to get to the Medium and therefore the facility's shape will correspond with what that item was.

Black/White - These planets are at war, and according to the rules of the game, White will usually lose. Black then becomes the enemy, and it will be the players' common goal to defeat their prototyped King and Queen. This of course comes after each player defeats their corresponding boss.

The Medium - This is where the Black and White planets exist, and is also where the player's stage planet will be. Each Player always has their own planet to save. The planet often contains waves and waves of foes. There is usually something horribly amiss in this planet, and the player's duty is to defeat the boss and right the wrong.(bosses currently have no form, but I assume it will be something extremely ironic)

Foes - These are the monsters you will face to gain higher levels, obtain grist, and get boondollars and health from. The grist yield is usually related to the monster, such as if the monster is made of asbestos, you can earn Asbestos Grist as well as some other grist units from defeating it. Examples: Asbestos Imp, Sulfur Salamander, Concrete Ogre

(of course foes are also prototyped with all the players' pre-medium kernelsprite prototypes)

=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=

Special RP Guidelines

- if you die, you will inadvertently cost everyone else their ability to complete the session

- Grist can amount to so much, it's best if you only pretend there's a limit until you get to the point that it doesn't matter much. Of course if you need a special grist to alchemize an item you want, you will usually have to find it somehow or if you're lucky you can earn Grist Torrent

- remember stronger items can only be alchemized with rarer grist

- enemy Agents won't just suddenly be your friend

- prototyping with two sentient items is ill-advised, try using something inanimate first, and then something alive or once-alive (and personally I think ironic prototypes are hilarious)

- don't just pretend you alchemized something powerful like a time machine, not only should you find the right things to combine but you should expend rare grist to actually make them

- if a server player tries to clean a toilet, it will probably break off of the house. . .

- Level 2 is about as far as we should go until the story confirms that Level 3 is the Veil, also remember that Level 2 will be your server player's planet and not yours

- be somewhat creative with your Strife Specibus, please

=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=

Character Creation -- at last I can make my character!

But wait! I don't want someone else coming up with my character's name -- alright you can choose your own name <_<

- Chumhandles will be taken lightly, and don't need to adhere to a genetic code. But still you should make them - likeThis - just because I said so

- Appearance may be and is even advised to be done in MS Paint - but you can write it if you really want

- Treat the Guardian form however you wish, you can put things like appearances and habits in, anything that will make it interesting

- Homesummary is a basic outline of what your house looks like(inside and out) and where it is

- most extra info can be revealed within the RP, but if you have something special to add put it in Other Relevant Info

Enter Name: HOMOSEXUAL ROCKER-BOY the GAME enters, but unable to do so as it has been shot several times. The GAME then fussily enters || WILL YOGMAN ||

Chumhandle: [munitionsTally]

Appearance: Posted Image

INTERESTS: He has an interest in guns, albeit marginally and for aggrieving purposes. He also loves his pet cat Cotton, who's a young white cat. He also loves to cook. He also likes to come up with various chemicals and poisons himself.

Strife Specibus: pistolKind - He uses his NERF GUN. His NERF GUN was ejected out of his Strife Specibus when he allocated a DESERT EAGLE into his strife deck.

Guardian: Will's guardian is most likely his DAD, as his MOM doesn't live with them anymore because of BUSINESS purposes. His DAD used to be a world class sniper, but then retired into the field of chemistry, providing various CHEMICALS and POISONS to be found around the house regularly. His dad wears a pretty lax wardrobe, being dressed in a normal Red T-Shirt regularly, wearing his blue jeans with the shirt. His foot wear is generic and not at all important.

Aside from that, it could also be suspected that his cat COTTON is also his guardian. Will acclaims that he has "super freaky-ass mind powers". He is white. There are dots of gray on his head. Not much else.

Homesummary: Will lives in a Two Story house, which is painted BLUE. It's got four visible windows including the PANE OF GLASS that let's light into the LAB. Will's room is the first I'll explain. Every room has a way into the LAB inside the HOUSE. Will's emergency escape route is the small frame that comes out underneath is bed. Will's room is pretty messy with old soda cans and containers and shit thrown fucking everywhere. Will's computer is pretty nice, with a big monitor. Then his door is garbage, practically coming off the damned wall. The hall way was being attempted at painting it yellow, but it was never finished. The there's an extra room next to his that's practically inaccessible and no one's really ever tried to get in, so it remains unknown what's in there. Then, the rest is really unimportant except that his bathroom is down the hall from his room and the carpet's brown.

Other Relevant Info: He uses the ARRAY Modus. He has one of those Modus Mixers, but he doesn't use it.

>>Enter Name
Amy's name has already been entered, interests mentioned etcetera.

>> Rechieve arms from closet

Nah She doesn't want to. Plus she already has them.

>>Capchalogue Anime plushie

She doesn't exactly know what that means but she does so anyways. The anime plushie disappears into one of Amy's 4 capchalogue cards.

Amy finished up her little short adventure story she based of one of her favorite websites. Then posted it with pictures. Of course some people on the forums there weren't too appreciative of this while some didn't care and of course there were those who thought it was pretty cool. She logged off of the forum and began to pester one of her chums.

Will had just woken up from bed, and began his daily routine. It seemed like a normal day for Will until he looked at the calendar in the bathroom."Dammit. I forgot the beta came out today! I bet Dad has the mail. It's already one." Will said, going to get dressed. Will proceeded to hang his towel on the door and put on his same Blue Jean Shots that he always has on. Well, not exactly the same pair, but you know what I mean. He then got on his shirt and jacket and grabbed his NERF GUN from his desk, which needed to be cleaned off badly. He allocated his gun into his specubis and went to find his Dad. Sure enough, his Dad had been there in the lab."Dad, did you get my betas? They were supposed to come today." Will said before his Dad handed him the two envelopes. Thanks, Dad. Make sure you don't leave anything out again. Will headed back upstairs and started to install the two disks onto his computer, while he had started to pester his Weeaboo friend Amy.

TA: OMG WOW I TOTALLY FORGOT! I gotta get to the mail and picked up the Betas before my dumb sister does
___________________________________________________________________________________
She bet her sister was still asleep even though it was past 12. Amy had spent her time doodling like usual and that dumb fanfic she can't believe she wrote. She grabbed her spear and equipped it to her strife specibus. She rand through the hallway and leaped onto the stair railway sliding down it and saw her sister walking to the front door. Amy leaped off the rail and started running to the door just as Sis broke out into a run. They both hit the door at the same time and Amy made it barely, since she had pushed off her sister to the last few feet. She opened the mailbox and started to search through the mail, finding mail and bills and bluh bluh bluh. She found one of the betas, the client copy but her sister managed to snatch the rest of the mail including the server copy from her hands.

She ran up stairs and started to download the Beta. She pestered back to GB.

TA: This is Great!!!! MY SISTER GOT THE SERVER BETA! I only got the client and I'm gonna try hard to sneak the server beta away from her.

Enter Name: Al Kraft
Chumhandle: surgicalInsomniac

Appearance: Posted Image

INTERESTS: You take a look around the room. Al has several INTERESTS, of which appear to include classic MONSTER MOVIES like Bram Stoker's Dracula and Frankenstein. Looking at a different wall, you can see a shrine of TEEN SLASHER MOVIES such as Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street. You can see a tape of Jason Takes Manhattan lying about; apparently not all of these movies are good. Most of these posters have been here for a while and are even fading.

He likes to play VIDEO GAMES, though usually alone, and sometimes with his friends. For his birthday this winter, Amy sent him one of those ridiculous ANIME PLUSHIES and a matching SHIRT of Al's favorite game hero, STARBY. He's so lazy, he even left the white box it came in lying in the corner.

Amy influenced him with her constant babble about ANIME & MANGA, and he now has a collection of JAPANESE COMICS OF THE HORROR GENRE. If you were to pick one of these up and open it, there's no doubt you'd see pages and pages of gore. There also seems to be a few shelves conveniently hidden from view.

Will even seems to have influenced him, as there are boxes and cans of GRATUITOUSLY CAFFEINATED SODAS everywhere, as well as some OVERSIZED PLASTIC SODA CUPS from a popular convenience store. Also lying about are several COFFEE STAINED MUGS. Can't let you brew that, Starbucks.

Strife Specibus: chainsawkind

Guardian: You don't remember living with anyone other than HIM. His face is incredibly hard to see under those long, black bangs. Unbelievably tall and often clad in a butler outfit, your UNCLE has always been in charge around here. However, he is often out working for the incredibly wealthy. Judging by the assortment of OCCULT ARTIFACTS and DEMONIC LORE you assume he's out there summoning demons and performing seances for bored aristocrats. He doesn't like the mess you leave his house in, and has compromised with you to give you a room in the BASEMENT. Sometimes you just wish he would quit lecturing you about conducting yourself like a PROPER GENTLEMAN. You still can't get used to wearing a MONOCLE, luckily both of your eyes are bad and not just one. You often tell him to take a chill pill, and he pulls a BOTTLE out of nowhere which is literally labeled "CHILL PILLS" and pops one right in front of you. You assume it is some kind of sorcery.

Homesummary: Located in an obscure wooded area on a large ritzy island, except this isn't the ritzy part of the island. The house has two stories. On the top floor you can see the shoreline past some of the trees. Outside you can hear the waves crashing on the right days. All of the surrounding TREES are deciduous, there was once CONIFEROUS TREES between the house and the neighboring one, but they were all chopped down for some reason you can't remember at the moment.

The inside apart from his room is pretty fancy looking, with lots of shelves of ANTIQUE PORCELAINS as well as several areas loaded with many creepy OCCULT ARTIFACTS.

The kitchen is filled to the brim with aromas of PUNGENT SPICES, which makes the kitchen smell like some kind of wicked ritual. There's plenty of TEA BAGS hanging around or discarded, as UNCLE loves nothing more than his variety of HERBAL TEAS.

The house itself has an ordinary sloped roof but is quite asymmetrical in structure. The garage is on one side, with UNCLE's room right above it. The rest of the house is a bit blocky in comparison to UNCLE's pointy room and looks like a mess even with the attractive style in mind.

Other Relevant Info: Uses a MAHJONG modus for his sylladex. This is incredibly complicated and he hopes he can swap it one day.

Will stopped pestering his weeaboo friend Amy, and instead, went to go pester his semi-gothic, horror loving friend Al. Not before closing the installation windows of SBURB, though. Man, were those things starting to piss him off. Will had to get up though, and grab himself some Waffles and coffee. He also grabbed a bag of cheetos from the pantry for some mad snacks later. In case he needed them, at least. Knowing damn well he couldn't hold a plate of waffles, syrup, and a mug filled to the brim with coffee, he captchalouged the Syrup, and Cheetos and went back to his computer to finish what he was going to do. Which was pestering Al.

> Get beta server from sister

Your SIS would likely be in the kitchen doing bills and stuff, and making lunch. the beta Client would take a while even on your incredibly powerful unit that you call a laptop so you better do this while you can. Yep there it was on the table next to SIS.

>Take beta from table

You run over to the table to grab the battle but you are stopped by SIS.

> STRIFE!

The strife starts. You attack but it does nothing and then you R-at-ionalize. This doesn't work and you are attacked with a flood of kimono and anime plushies and a puppy. You then retali-at-e, jumping out and ending the strife with a hit to her head. Her strife quota seemed to be filled and SIS walked off.

>Be the dog

You can certainly not be the dog and you don't even know how to. You instead pet the puppy on the head

>Grab the beta
You take the beta uptairs and find out the slient download is now finished.

Anyways, after will had gone away from the computer mainly to clean off his plate, and out his mug remnants into the sink, something... peculiar had caught his eye. He glanced at the glint come from the ceiling as one of Dad's old rifles dropped from the ceiling."Oh. One of Dad's old guns. Hm. Wonders if he has any pistols..." Will said, looking up at the panel where the rifle came from. Will went and got a stepladder to climb into what looked like a ceiling. Except a very bright, wide open ceiling. Yeah. Will saw a lot of guns, one of which viewed as the only one he could really, take. He allocated it to his strife specibus, ejecting his NERF Gun out of the window. Shit was gone for good. Will though very minimally of this, and got back to his computer a popped open his cheetos for some mad snacks, yo.

Al gazed outside, it was a rather nice day. The entire sky was enveloped with a cloud. Uncle shoved open the car door. He had the envelopes in his arm with the rest of the mail. He was looking down at the letters as he strolled up to the stoop. Or at least that's what he could have been doing, it was hard to tell with all the hair that guy had in his face.

The boy wondered how he would get the games now. His friends appeared to have gone suddenly idle as no one was responding to him. That butler, so cunning.

> Play a haunting refrain on your keyboard

What the hell, might as well. You stroll over to your- wait a minute, you don't have one of those. You've been on the second floor this whole time with your LAPTOP, staring out that window. You captchalogue the SHONEN GARBAGE to your sylladex. You draw a 1-SOU tile to put it in.

> AL: Descend

You slip down the stairs cradling your laptop before UNCLE can reach the stoop. You'd hate to have an encounter with him. You bust a move straight to that BASEMENT.
