Mari swooped through the gate. In front of her was a towering altar surrounded by a moat of pure flame and magma the air was thick with odors of sulfur and tiny embers quickly dissolving to ash. That altar just up the stone steps was foreboding and menacing. It stared back at Mari, suggesting to her that it was once used for unspeakable sacrifices. It was all clear to her as she approached it. Several channels carved off the edge of the altar as though to redirect blood down into the moat. Directly behind the altar was a large stone door. It seemingly refused to open right away. For Mari turned her head ever so slightly, and spotted something horrific. In plain sight of the two, rose two infernal specters from the moat. Infernal Specter -- A ghost of a tortured person veiled in white-hot flame. They can defend against most physical attacks such as punches easily. They attack simply by touching their victim. This foe is weak against most things that could combat fire or ghosts. Knowing damn well she couldn't punch one of these guys, Mari inched away nervously from the ghosts. She might need to remember a new spell for this dungeon. She ran to a corner and flipped through one of her spell books. |

Mason, not seeing much to do, decided to try and break down the door. He drew his Mace card and kept striking it, but it refused to break. Then, well, he pretty much just said, "Fuck this.", and Mimicked Mari's Hawk Pawnch.

Mari flipped through her book as the ghosts drew closer. Just as she found the spell she was looking for, Mason busted open the door. She didn't know it, but he had just wasted his chance at ever using her signature move again. Peachy. Now that the door was open, Mari decided to save her spell for something more threatening. She went with the robot thing through the door. At that moment he reminded her of someone she felt she knew once in a past life or something. The next hall was huge, with a gray structure in the center which resembled the leaning tower of Pisa. Surrounding the large hall were many odd mechanisms hooked up to a pool of cool magma that surrounded the tower. Throughout the room were some creepy monsters that provided a light source for the area. Standard Magmamander -- Large grotesque salamander-shaped creatures constructed of living magma with black exoskeletons. Their joints and eyes glow brightly with the exposed magma. They can attack by tackling, biting with painfully hot teeth, and by whipping with their tails. They are weak to hard or blunt weapons, explosives, and ice-based attacks such as spells. Mari backed away as one of the monsters came near. Then she realized the door was still open, and the ghosts were probably drawing near as well. She shoved the heavy door and hoped the spirit wouldn't sneak past the crack. Then she remembered the magmamander in front of her and the robot. Assuming the robot would go on a rampage with the several other beasts, Mari decided to fight the one closest to her. The harpy motioned the air with her hand, and several mysterious blue runes appeared in the air. She ordered the glowing letters into a pentacle-like design. Then a powerful cold force drew inward to her hand, she pointed it at the monster creeping around about six yards in front of her. Finally Mari thrust her palm forward. A hazy sphere blew like a harsh wind through the air and collided with the magmamander. "Soul Freeze!" The monster quickly blotted out like covered candle. In the darkness the body grew into a crystal of ice, and ceased moving. She was glad she didn't have to approach the dreadful thing. She then looked away to see how things were faring with the kill unit. |

Things were going well with the kill unit, actually. He had bitches, hoes, a restaurant, and even a family now. He had snubbed SONHEARST in the snout to establish paternity, but then Mason got shot, the town got took over, and SONHEARST, who had transformed into BATHEARST, got swept away by a river. He was also killing the Magmamanders, too. After he'd finished his blunt onslaught of Salamanders made of red, gooey magma, he went over to the leaning structure and pushed it hoping it would open a door or something since you didn't describe a door as being in the room. |

Mari didn't notice any doors either, but if one would simply look around the strange towering structure, one could see there very well was a door and no weird puzzle shit obstructing it either. Mari observed the magmamanders being apparently slaughtered in a nondescript fashion. Boy, was that some stomach-churning carnage. Mari was feeling incredibly nauseated as a certain effeminate deku scrub would be after seeing a little girl lift a weapon eight times her weight. This was certainly not the easy way. |

And now, as you'd had described a door now, it suddenly appeared to Mason and as every other door or wall the duo had encountered, it was knocked down. Even though this door clearly had a handle on which to open it by, this was practically the only resolve Mason had found suiting for this run of the dungeon. Now, assuming Mari had gone through with Mason, this room was a narrow corridor, but it was seeming filled to the brim with all this weird puzzle shit obscuring the end, and even though it seemed really simple at first, it'd evolve into something as confusing as the plot of Problem Sleuth. Oh well. There were flames spewing endlessly from the walls and floor, and spears coming from the ceiling. And then after that, there were a few more monsters and Lava or Magma, whatever you'd want to call it, pouring out from the ceiling. And then after that one there was a huge Ruby Giclops that stood in the middle of a hub type place. That's all I'm going to describe, we'll get to the rest when we get to it. Ruby Giclops - A giant Cyclops that has, apparently, been fused with ruby resulting in this hideous beast called Giclops as not quite being a Cyclops, but not being another species entirely. A Giclops is a tough foe to beat, being around a level four monster. It's not smart at all though, and has the IQ of a rock. |

Mari went with the kill unit into the cramped and noisy hallway. The temperature would be unbearable for a human, but the two of them had substantial resistance. Nonetheless, going too close to that lava would probably damage them both without even touching it. Mari noted that this wing of the temple was probably not for rituals but probably for preventing people from reaching something important. The set up of the hallway dictated that passage was only possible for skilled aviators, meaning only harpies could originally go through this way, and only those who were also great at flying. Mari wasn't that great at flying. "H-hey sir. . . if I fly through this I'll probably die. Can I. . . can I ride on your back?" |

"Of course may, Miss." Mason said, as he started the trek though the fire and such. As they neared the spears, Mason crashed through them, rendering them useless as they had broken, metal and all. But, as Mason scanned some of the wood, he had none of them had touched Mari, as they contained a very toxic chemical of toxicity, that would probably cause death pretty soon after it touched anything that actually, you know lived. Mason felt a stroke of laziness, so he hadn't actually scrolled down any further in the analysis. Mason had begun his way toward the monsters, as he let Mari down off of his back, and charged against the ghosts and Magmamanders. Mason struck each one as hard as he could, trying to get past the ghosts. The magma salamanders themselves had been no problem; yet these ghosts were fairing to be extremely resistant towards his blunt entourage of attacks. Knowing he was barely wearing them down with his Mace, Mason did a quick scan on them. They're only weakness, apparently, was to cold or ice-based magic. Mason had neither, so he drew his Axe and started wailing once more. |

Mari was forced in a position where she had to freeze souls again. Which would normally be difficult being a stamina expending type. She factored in the fact that until then she hadn't used magic for a while, and that she had little difficulty walking through the desert in that cloak of hers, which was really her wings wrapped around herself in the form of a thick cloth. Mari flapped her wings and evaded an incoming ghost. These spirits weren't at all peaceful, and probably weren't headed to a pleasant afterlife anyway. She decided to freeze them. Two spells will be a problem, maybe I can trick them into being hit by the same one. she plotted to herself. She flapped past Mason to lure the spirit chasing her near the other one. "Matrix pentacle, align!" A bizarre shape was drawn in the air. The center of this shape was drawn over the ghost. A sphere of an overpowering sucking force shot from the shape. This sphere blew over and collided with both of the ghosts at once, sucking their spirits into one solid object, a grape-sized Red Pebble that was pretty useless as of now. Mari bowled over and took a breather, making weird spheres was hard work. After getting back up she tiredly snatched up the Pebble. Red Pebble x2 obtained! |

Well, now that they had evade the traps and defeated the monsters, the only thing that was left was the huge monster, who seemed extremely out of place here. The only thing that really seemed in place about was the color red, which still didn't fit. Mason hoped it would fall down some stairs when they were done. Still, noticing the harpy was exhausted, Mason attempted to get her to stay here and rest."Mari, pardon me, but you must rest. I have noticed how much using that ability exhausts you, so please, stay here. I will take care of the ruffian.". Hoping Mari would listen, he took his Axe and did something with it. He went to the Giclops and started wailing on it, knowing full well what could happen and what couldn't. During the heat of the battle, Mason ran around three times counterclockwise, getting it dizzied up and started wailing more. This certainly was the hard way. |

Mari sat back and watched. "My pleasure, sir." she answered him. This was his forte, after all. She spread out her wings like a cushion. Halfway through the battle, she thought to herself; I wonder if I should help him? But she couldn't remember any useful spells at the moment, and she was sort of tight on stamina anyway. She kept to herself so Mason could do his job. |

Now, this was proving to be a pretty time consuming task, and even a robot, who wasn't supposed to get annoyed or tired, was even start to complain internally about the size of this thing's health vial. But the combat experience was paying off, as a new Card had become available to Mason. Mason put back his Axe card and drew out the newly attained Lance card, putting a quick end to the monstrosity. Mason went back and checked on the condition of the fine lady bird Mari. "Ms. Mari, are you alright? Not hurt or light-headed I hope?" the robot asked, wanting to assure Mari's safety throughout the entirety of the temple. So many threats, you can't even.

"Th-that was amazing how you did that thing you just did! I- uhh" Mari tried to hide a blush. "I'm not hurt at all d-don't worry about me sir." After a moment she managed to shove herself back to her feet. "This way, mister M-Marsiella. I think I see something." Marisahd walked with Mason down several worn stone steps away from the small battle platform and into a lower hall. The harpy scanned the walls as best she could in the misty din of the volcanic cavern. The wide hall came to an abrupt halt. At the end was a wall, with a large mechanical door at the center. The door appeared all but impenetrable unless unlocked. This brings us to the key. The key hung above in a thick metal cage on a steel chord. The release of the chord depended solely on the myriad of devices before them. Examining the area, one could see endless amounts of pulleys, gears, pipes, pistons, dials, engines, magnets, boilers, chords, chains, boxes, bags, etc. against the wall surrounding the door. Somehow, some way, the two would have to make this machine work. Mari ignored the machine and turned straight to a portrait of an ancient harpy. By the looks of it, the picture had been there since the dawn of time, even before the machine was installed. "How ever will we open the door?" Mari asked suddenly. She wasn't quite ready to drop any hints yet. |

Mason was prepared to work this complicated mess of nonsense when a much more useless part of his internal scripting kicked in and caused him to go from combat gentleman, to hugable kitten robot thing. Even after his reprogramming, this bit had still been left, probably laziness on someone's part. Mason's mask suddenly changed displaying a :3 face, while he held his arms open. "It is can be hug times now?" he questioned, waiting on a response. While this meager piece of scripting had primarily taken over most of his physical workings, he had been designed for multi-tasking and began formulating a diverse plan to get the key, while he still awaited a hug from Mari as a possible attempt to reassure her. |

![]() Mari stared at the painting on the wall. "Harpies have really evolved haven't they. . ." She didn't exactly hear what Mason said. She just assumed he was asking about the puzzle. There couldn't possibly be more weird puzzle shit than this in a million years, and apparently there really hadn't been. Sadly for Mason his efforts to solve it weren't sufficient enough in the last post to warrant a clue from Mari. |
