Dirge walked many blocks from the old man's shop, the wet ground splashing underneath his boots as he quickly turned a corner. For the last few minutes, he's been followed by two thugs who had lit the man's shop on fire, but their main goal was to beat the crap out of Dirge. The cocky bastards had been able to nearly kill him before because they had their whole gang behind them, but with just two, Dirge could take them. Quickly turning another corner, he ducked into an alleyway, following it until he came to a deadend. "Just perfect," he muttered to himself as he turned to face the two thugs. They were both humans, and taller then Dirge, and were cracking their knuckles while grinning. "Well, worm," the first one laughed. "Looks like your cornered with nowhere to go," the other one chuckled. Dirge grinned devilishly, teeth bared, then quickly initiated Quickstep. Before either man could realize what had happened, Dirge was beside the one of the left. Dirge then quickly activated Earthbreaker, just as the man turned, and punched the rogue square in the chest, knocking him crashing into the rogue's partner. Both of them hit the opposite wall and fell to the ground. The one he punched gripped his chest and silently cried out in pain, the sharp intake of air stinging his broken ribs. As the second man tried to crawl away, a throbbing headache rocking through his skull, Dirge slowly started to step down on the man's chest, putting pressure on it. "Leave me be," was all Dirge muttered before walking away, leaving the two men laying in the ally. |

Dirge wandered aimlessly in the city of thieves, lost in thought. He had no plans for his future, or ideas from his past, he simply wandered now. In his daze, he stepped on a ruined peice of parchment, which he slowly picked up. The page could barely be made out, but from what he could gather, it was a page from a journal. He stood in the strangely vacant street and read the journal entry. Entry Number 723 It seems that the volcanic mountain has a very interesting design on the inside. The burning hot magma carved out tunnels and rooms inside the mountain, slowly creating a large complex inside. Some of the locals have told me that creatures have inhabited the caves and dubbed it the Hadic Temple. This is a very interesting location, and I've been told by some daring explorers that a very strong and powerful artifact resides in this Temple that could give a normal person........ The rest of the page was missing, like the thought had been interupted, but it made no difference to Dirge. He folded the journal entry and slid it into his pocket, and slowly made up his mind. His Destiny wasn't going to fall into his lap, and his curiosity had been stirred by the promise of a rare and valuable artifact. It would take a lot of his speed, strength and stamina to do this, and it might prove something. He made his way to the local inn, the Spiteful Swine, where his friend worked as a stable attendent. He quietly snuck in, and walked to the back of the stable. The reason he was such good friends with the man that worked here was because the man slept a considerable amount of time, and Dirge found a sleeping friend a very good friend. He passed the sleeping attendent and unlocked the last stable door, opening it quietly. Before him stood a magnificent black horse, who stared intently at him, and then let out a little snort. Dirge lifted his hand and rested it on the mare's nose and pet it gently until she calmed down. He grabbed the saddle and bridle and once he had finished saddling up he rode the horse out of the stable at a thundering run. He burst into the streets and quickly rode away before anyone realized what he had done. "Come, swift Arion, let us be away from here!" |
