He usually has a serious, stoic air about himself, but has been known to take a joke or two. Biography: Born on Coruscant, the son of senator Serke Mercator, Melkannen came into a slowly unraveling world of strife. Within his lifetime, he could literally see the Republic begin to fall into chaos in only decades. At a young age, he joined the Republic Navy, serving on the fringes of deep space. His life was simple, and most importantly, far away from the boiling politics of the Core Worlds. When he recieved his officer's commision, he became XO on the Amaran, a small patrol ship. When the Clone Wars broke out, the fighting was outrageously intense. Mercator was assigned command of his own vessel, a Consular-Class corvette, the Tartarus. Towards the end of the war, he was placed in command of a Venator-Class Star Destroyer, the Adamant. Since Palpatine rose to power, Mercator has believed in his ability to restore peace and order to the galaxy, finally ending millenia of petty strife and tiresome conflict.
