Good question. Maybe it has something to do with arrogant dialog, but I can't be sure... Tried asking?

LoL well I would have thought your deductive reasoning skills would have been much more refined... but apparently you missed that my question was obviously rhetorical I don't mind being banned...seriously there will always be a server to join, but Gen asked for my help and I luv bartering so I could'nt resist.I'am suprised though that you would stick your preverbial nose into a post that was not otherwise directed at you....rofl sounds like something I would do...well done!, but since you opened up this can...now I suppose I'll have to feed it to you Gen's a clever Lad and very proficient w/ the computer so I have little doubt he's unaware of the tools and websites available to assist him with his questions...But English can be a very tricky language to grasp w/out actual interaction. It has a plethera of words to describe something as simple as mere "tense" and lets not even start w/ the amount of slang in the English language. It's almost paradoxal how quickly a person can pick up english and use it to convey something, while at the same time difficult and frustrating to understand how structure and wording can change that very meaning you intended. To speak English well is not the same as being well spoken. So If you still want help Gen then you can PM me so we don't spam this thread anymore...If you don't need my help...no problem, this helped me kill a couple minutes of my shift at work BTW Cowboy I was unaware you were a writer, that's cool and props to you. You obviously have some work published otherwise you would have referred to yourself as an aspiring writer. I'm gonna go out on a limb here...Is it a "how to guide to beastiality"? At the risk of sounding 'arrogant' I actually have a few things published myself, though it's nothing as impressive as a book...Just a few articles on Radiography research and a little book of poetry :$ Persoanlly I didn't think they were that good....well at least the articles may have been informative...but the poetry...Meh early university days..."shrooms" can be very inspiring Edited by MissDag'or, Mar 14 2009, 03:31 AM.

I too have various informational articles and a few mini-stories on two websites, however both went down recently. I suppose you could call me an 'aspiring writer', as I have no books or other work published. Oh yeah, and it's 'Cowdog'.

It looks as though you have no need for my linguistic skills Genny. Besides you havn't pm'd me as to what in particular you're looking for help with. "Help with English" is pretty broad...What aspect is giving you the most trouble? What will your test focus on?

I think present continuous is something that you are doing or that is happening at that particular moment of time e.g. "I am running to get my football". |

Do you mean 'Present Tense'? As opposed to Past Tense, as in, "I ran to get my football" or Future Tense, "I am going to run to get my football"? |

Put in different words, yeah. It means you are still in the act of doing it. |

Alright...sheesh I'll help you...Gawwd Let me simplify it for you Gen; Use "present simple" for habits and or routines ie.(such as); I use the washroom every morning at 6:00am. I check this forum every day. and also for general facts or the truth; The moon revolves around the earth. Dag pwns English hardcore. You also use the "present simple" for thoughts and feelings ie. I hate this. I think so. Also, in the "present simple, we use the verb without an ending. ie. I get my dinner ready at 6pm, usually. In the third person singualr, (after he, she, it, your friend and etc.,) However, the verb ends in "s" or "es" ie. It gets hectic during the weekdays. Bob catches the afternoon bus. "Present Progressive" or what you call "present continuous" is used to describe events happening now. ie.I am writing this post. I am having my morning coffee while I write this. Here's some more examples of "present simple tense" (most often used with adverbs of repeated time (something that happens often) I'll put the adverbs in bold; I always laugh at the posts here. He frequently gets mad at me. She never forgets a grudge. I often make enemies online. So Gen, when you want to state a fact or ask a question without any time reference, use the "present simple tense" ie. I live in Canada. or She plays JK2, but does not play with Barbies. or For dinner, he drinks Vodka. Statements about rules of nature and the way the world is are also in the "present simple tense." ie. The sun rises in the east. or The Earth revolves around the Sun. or Dag* is the most banned player in JK2. Gen you can answer me in the "present simple" ie This is helpful. or This is not helpful. and i'll respond in "present simple" also; I am Happy. or I am shutting the **** up. |
