Hello all. As you may or may have not noticed, WE HAVE A ROLE-PLAYING FORUM NOW! YES! I've really been an avid role-player for about three years now, so bringing this joy here feels absolutely spectacular. Generally, role-playing improves the creative flow, gains more support from outside areas, and is just downright fun. I hope that we may convey that feeling of enjoyment in SSB Mercuirous. Of course, there will have to be some ground rules, which is really what this post is all about. If anyone has any suggestions, post them here and I will edit the rules accordingly. Now, the basic concept of the role-playing world is simply that it's a world...where characters are...and you role-play. It's simply a matter of "character A is in Location B. Choose your character! Hilarity ensues". I desire to promote freedom around the role-playing world, so pretty much anyone or anything that stretches your imagination can enter. We can have Ocelot in Groznyj Grad slaughtering every last scientist he sees until Bowser crashes the party, Wario stealing some...stuff from Silph Co until Team Rocket breaks in for a battle of the thieves, or your own, self-styled character simply having a noble spar with Ike or Mario. So for those of you who have wanted to see Princess Peach possessed by the spirit of Yune to seduce Lloyd Irving into defeating Dr. Eggman...well, now's your chance. However, I do realize the need for specific plots. Therefore, if you want to outline your own rules for a topic, that's absolutely fine. Just remember to keep your ideas in one topic, to symbolize a more private and closed role-play. A topic centering on a plot for Sir Grodus (Paper Mario: the Thousand-Year Door) to rebuild his body using ancient artifacts centered in the Mario universe would be a good example of this...I mean, unless you wanted Solid Snake to burst in and save the day every single time a battle happened. ^^ A few simple rules that shall not be broken: No Godmodding You must give a logical reason to your characters' strengths and weaknesses. If they are, in fact, a God, they must have some sort of logical weakness. If the God is more of a joking and friendly character, like the Lord of Games or Blue Robin Williams (a.k.a. Genie), they must not be the main antagonist or protagonist. Because no one likes it when they get turned into a frog right before installing the "Destroy the World" button. Also, villains can't overpower their foes unless they can be defeated later. Kefka would be a good example of how to avoid this... No Spamming This should be obvious, but some people can hide it in very unique ways. For example, if Giga Lord Bacondorf the Relentless, Master of Jesuskarp Hadoken Attack Level 5 actives his Trap Card which causes Safer Dukem Bros. Final Smash to destroy the Kingdom of Flatland Heaven...yeah, that's not really going to fly. Joke characters are alright, but don't make them feel like they're interfering with the main plot. Ultros or Johnny Sasaki would be good examples of how to avoid this... No Flaming Unless you're casting your foe into eternal Hellfire, of course. But seriously, don't attack others for their style. Constructive criticism is allowed, but don't specifically say anyone "sucks at RPing" or "is an elitist SOB". Those are the kind of comments that make Kamek want to bring out the banhammer... If there are any questions, comments, concerns, or anything else, either post them here or PM me. I'm totally devoted to making this section of the site a thriving community where creativity can truly flow and the pure beauty of role-playing can finally shine. |
