Well I wanted to start things off with a rant, but I have good news this week so I thought I'd post it instead. Yesterday I had a meeting with DeVry University. They told me that with my ACT score, my grades, and everything else that I was accepted. I am going to be in the Game & Simulation Programming (Video Game Programming) course and I will be attending the DeVry located in Irving, TX. I start next July and cannot wait! They said that class sizes are only 25 students. The housing has 4 students per "House" with 2 bedrooms. They match people up with others like them so that you don't wind up with a roommate that you are the polar opposite of. They said there will be a DeVry represenative to check up on the housing every once in awhile and the only urles given to me were: no alcohol is allowed in housing at all, no "overnight guests", and keep it clean. It is also fully furnished. Also, they told me that DeVry is centered on education, things like sports aren't even considered at DeVry as they have no sports teams. (yes!) However they do have various clubs and one of the clubs that I took notice of was a video gaming club. They have 3 semesters a year, and you only have to go for 3 years. The only downside is that you don't get off for the summer. If any of you have plans to go into video game programming, I highly recommend DeVry University. |

Very, VERY nice. I look forward to what happens after you go through DeVry's course... And to see 'Zantok' (But... not Zantok, whatever your name in real life is XD) in the Credits of many great video games. |

Good luck with that. I've always been a bit skeptical about colleges advertised on TV...but, it's awesome you're getting into what you love. Heart's out to you. ...you'd better not develop shovelware, or I will destroy you. Get a respectable 2nd or 3rd-party to work for. |

Agreed. Good 2nd Parties include: HAL Laboratory Creatures Inc. Intelligent Systems Rare Bungie ...and I don't know what else. XD Good 3rd Parties include: Konami Capcom Sega (Which will soon be 1st Party, as they will have a new handheld coming out soon) Square Enix ...and other obvious ones. |

Well, I plan to work for one of the following: Nintendo Konami Capcom Sega Square-Enix Any 2nd Party that is under Nintendo. Nintendo is the major group I want to work for, always have. And don't worry bout the shovelware Kamekguy, I have no intention to ever rush a game. I don't think i could live with myself if I did. Mayhaps you will see a Zantok Jonno, but no in the credits. Maybe I can make a game where Zantok is a character, and as for my real name, well, perhaps that will be revealed in due time. Edited by Zantok, Oct 9 2008, 06:03 PM.

A rumor, proven false unfortunately.  This is pretty amazing news, though. I've gotta agree with KamekGuy that those university advertisements on the TV have always left me a bit sketpical, but if you can get through it then I'd be happy to be proven wrong. I'm currently going for an English major to go into writing, hopefully getting a job at BioWare; so who knows, we may be industry brothers one day.

I'd have to disagree with Sega being a good third-party but that's pretty cool, anyway. I like video games, but I doubt I could get into making them. |

Certainly not for the Wii as of now, but you should check out other accomplishments that they've been getting good ratings for: Chronicles, Adventure 2, etc. As for saying that they're 'good', I also made it out that they were one of the most well known, and Zantok would be getting more recognition that way if he made it big... Of course, Konami > Square Enix > Capcom >>>>>>>>> all other third parties in my opinion. Also, congrats to Kai on working towards that English major.  Note: DARN! Sega isn't going to fully get back in the console race any time soon I suppose. I wouldn't buy it, but I'd be happy to see another original series of Sonic games on a Sega system. Also, OASIS would be awesome to have a sequel on that system too. |

I too am quite skeptical about any kind of ad on TV. However, upon speaking with various people knowledgeable about the various colleges/universities, they all recommened DeVry to me, so I figured why the heck not. As for you T3h Kaiser, that would be sweet. Oh and Jonno, you're comparison of 3rd parties is nearly accurate. For me I'd put it as such: Square-Enix>Capcom>Konami>Sega>All |
