I think it is pretty clear to me now what a few playable characters' personalities are now... SOME SUBSPACE EMISSARY SPOILERS BELOW Ganondorf's goal in life is to take over the world, and in Smash, he pretty much has the ability to take over all worlds... so why not try? It was clear he was trying to do so in the SSE, anyway. Dedede always tries to 'get dat dere Kirbeh' but is sorta cowardly and sends his minions out to do the dirty work. This shows in his play style in Brawl... Waddle Dee Toss, as well as Waddle Dee Army? No wonder Sakurai put in that surprise final smash instead of Mecha Dedede. Bowser fights alongside his minions, recurring in every different world in the Mushroom Kingdom, kidnapping Toads and Princess Peach, and forcing his arch nemesis Mario to fight through all of his army, including himself, before giving up Peach. Peach barely looks like she wants to fight at all. It's obvious she has a slight disdain to fighting, and that she is pretty much oblivious to the world, as shown in both her moveset and in the Subspace Emissary. She tends to attack with some long range weapons, such as the Vegetable and Golf Club, and gives Fox, an enemy for about two seconds, some tea on Battleship Halberd right when his Arwing goes down. Another good example is when the Halberd's canon's were firing off at Fox's Arwing, Peach just walked through them like she didn't even know they were there. Ike fights for his friends, all of which he strongly trusts and believes in. He also fights for what is truly right, such as the laguz tribes to stop being pestered by ignorant beorc. Ice Climbers LESS CLIMBZ MOUNTAINZ!!! BUT OH NOES.... PEOPLE ARE COMING AT US! FIGHTFIGHTFIGHT. ...Okay, I don't know. Do they fight for anything, or are they just there? They don't fight for anything, but they are blissful little buddies. What do you think certain characters' personalities are like? Edited by Jonno, Aug 2 2008, 06:08 PM.

The Ice Climbers are soulless representatives of the retro generation that are now overshadowed by R.O.B., Mr. Game & Watch, and Pit. In other words, they are pretty much useless. I GUESS you could show teamwork through them, but honestly...they're just...ugh. Anyway, most of these are pretty spot-on. Here's my views on a few characters: Donkey Kong: DK fights by his own rules. That is, don't bug him and he won't clobber you. Otherwise, the guy is pretty easy to get along with. He puts effort into his fighting style (most of his headbutt attacks look like they're brimming with "GAH! JUST DIE ALREADY!"), yet is still able to enjoy the thrill of battle (most of his aerial attacks, Spinning Kong, and his Final Smash are evidence of this). If I had to name Donkey Kong with one word, it would be pride. He fights to the finish proudly, and gives everything he has going down, even having a blast while doing it. And, of course, his dedication to protecting his "lil' buddy" is commemorable. Mr. Game & Watch: Mr. Game & Watch is a gullible character. He doesn't know why exactly he's there, but he thinks he's doing good no matter what he's doing. However, he is influenced by those around him. For example, in the wild battlefields of smash, all the zaniness causes him to transform into a giant octopus. However, while corrupted by the Subspace Army, G&W transforms into the dark mech of death, Duon. Mr. Game & Watch is the perfect example of a pure, clean character: he can be influenced any which way, but in the end, he is only him. And he is pure. |

I will now make two lists... one will be named Soulless Demon, and the others Pure Personality. This covers both Melee and Brawl characters. Pure Personality Mario Luigi Peach Bowser Link Zelda Shiek (Though she is Zelda, she has a different personality) Ganondorf Toon Link Pokemon Trainer Lucario Jigglypuff Pikachu Kirby King Dedede Meta Knight Ike Marth Mr. Game & Watch Donkey Kong Diddy Kong Yoshi R.O.B. Captain Falcon Samus/Zero Suit Samus Fox Falco Wolf Ness Lucas Pit Pikmin & Olimar Snake Sonic Mewtwo Pichu Young Link Ice Climbers Soulless Demons Roy Dr. Mario (A complete copy of Mario... Though he has personality, he just doesn't have his own.) ...Is this the Ice Climbers' end? Edited by Jonno, Aug 2 2008, 06:09 PM.

WHAT! Ice Climbers are epic win, you people suck. XP PICHU is the soulless demon if anyone. Ice Climbers are blissful and love each other. Even if SSE did them no justice, that doesn't make them soulless. >_> I also think Olimar is soulless if anything, he seemed to play no role in anything and was just kinda weird. Bleh. Jigglypuff too. Creeepy. Ahahaha. (But I do love Jiggs) |

Not talking about SSE here. I have no disdain against Ice Climbers BTW. I like their unique moveset, and hope they stay for the Clash. Edit: We are talking about SSE...! XD I meant to say that it isn't the main thing here. Edited by Jonno, Aug 2 2008, 06:01 PM.

EXACTLY, it isn't the main thing, that's what I'm talking about. How could you say their moveset isn't personality-filled? |

Their moveset's not filled with personality because, with the exception of their recovery move, all of their attacks can be done alone. And there's no...well, connection. A hi-five is the closest we get. No smooch, no peck, not even a hug. It doesn't feel like they care about each other, rather than they simply realize they need each other in order to stand a chance. And, c'mon, you have to admit Sakurai REALLY had to try to make a moveset for these two. Last I checked, they can't shoot freezing wind out of their hands in the original game. |
