Just finished it and...

...DAMN...just...DAMN!

That honestly could've been the single greatest gaming experience I've ever had. If there were EVER a reason to buy a game console, Metal Gear Solid 4 would be one HELL of a reason. I haven't even tried Metal Gear Online yet, but...DAMN...just...wow...

...the game is simply a masterpiece. I honestly can't pick out a single flaw in the entire package. It's an absolutely incredible deal, a spellbinding and stunning piece of art that MUST be seen.

This is, without a doubt, the best-made game of all time. Kirby Super Star, Banjo-Kazooie, and Donkey Kong Country 2 will always be my nostalgic favorites, but Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots...obliterates absolutely anything in its path as the single greatest game of all time.

It's beautiful. ;~;

It's for the PS3 right? Too bad if it is. If its getting this kind of response form you, it must be absolutely incredible!

It almost makes me want to play it, but alas it cannot be so for I do not own a PS3 and you are the only person I know who has one.

Consequently, would there happen to be a Metal Gear game for the PSP? With Dissidia: Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep being released for the PSP here in the States in 09, I have been heavily considering getting one.

Yeah, there's a Metal Gear game for the PSP. It's called Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, the only canonical entry to the Metal Gear saga on a handheld. It's the sequel to the third game in the series, which is a prequel to the entire series. Really, it's the least necessary game in the series to play...but it has "Calling to the Night" as its main vocal theme, so it's not all bad. ^^

Also, yeah, MGS4 is for the PS3. The game actually makes a joking reference to it. "Oh, yeah, we're on the PS3! The disks are Blu-Ray and dual-layered! Boy, times sure have changed..." This is, of course, referencing that the original Metal Gear Solid was on TWO DISKS, and that the game reached a certain checkpoint at which longtime fans of the series would recognize as a place to swap the game for its second disk.

...and I may have spoiled awesome nostalgic breakthrough. Darn. >.<

Still, I tried playing Metal Gear Solid 3 after this (which I thought was absolutely incredible after playing it) and...I just couldn't. It just felt so weak compared to MGS4, which overwhelmed every other game in the series. Well, besides the first one, but that has a certain early PSX charm that doesn't change with the times.

Also, to everyone with a PS2: Buy the Metal Gear Solid Essential Collection before playing this game! It contains MGS1, MGS2, and MGS3 for 30 bucks, and this game will totally make 500 times more sense after playing those titles.

However, not to diminish from the quality of MGS4...it's just so incredibly overwhelming. There was one, maybe two scenes that were cheesy, but they had this DK Rap-esque comic charm about them that really made even the weakest parts of the game worthwhile. This game...this game...THIS game...is the very definition of epic, and the standard upon which all video games should strive for to reach absolute stardom.

All this hype about MGS4 coming from one person reminds me of when I hyped up Okami (my 'best game of all time') A LOT. Anywho, an iPhone version of MGS is coming soon, so I'll look into it.
