| Brief Info on Stage |
Outer Haven is the massive warship of Liquid Ocelot, revealed to a wounded Solid Snake at the end of his return to Shadow Moses. The warship houses possibly the greatest collection of death traps the world has ever known, including Gekko, Scarabs, a near-army of elite FROG soldiers, Metal Gear RAY, a hallway filled with microwave rays, and an enormous amount of long-range artillery, just to name a few. However, the most visible threats that the battleship possesses are the GW system (a huge information center with the potential to control all electronic interface, including the nanomachines inside of many humans, in the entire world) and the rail gun from Metal Gear REX (capable of launching a nuclear missile anywhere in the world without being detected). Solid Snake, Meryl Silverburgh, and Johnny "Akiba" Sasaki were sent in to destroy the GW system and eliminate Liquid Ocelot. After countless perils and too many close calls to count, Solid Snake reached the core of Outer Haven. It was there that, though the Metal Gear MkIII, Otacon was able to shut down both the main system and the rail gun.
Outer Haven relies on an impregnable shell to both avoid any damage from heavy ballistics and to submerge itself without drowning the decks of the warship. The bow of the ship is adorned with the faces of Solidus Snake, Solid Snake, Liquid Snake, and Big Boss in the shape of Mount Rushmore, dubbed by fans as "Mount Snakemore". |
| Layout of Stage |
The stage has multiple areas that can be accessed by characters. Every 45 seconds or so, Screaming Mantis will appear in the background of the stage and will raise her Psycho Mantis doll above her head. The doll's eyes will glow, causing the background to distort for a moment before accessing the next part of the stage. If an opponent is underneath the stage at this time, they will be unable to recover (like in the Warioware microgame transitions). If the game is paused as the screen distorts, the camera angle can be changed to reveal marionette strings hanging from the characters fighting. Outer Haven's areas are as follows:
Main Deck, the starting area of the stage. The main deck of Outer Haven is mainly a flat surface, with two storage containers serving as elevated ground on each side of the stage. The size of the ship's main deck is slightly larger than the main deck of the Halberd.
Central Control Room is a likely place to be warped. In this area, there are no bottomless pits. On both sides of the room, there are staircases in between several booths, both of which can be climbed up like the eastern slope of the Melee version of Yoshi's Island. In the center of the room, Screaming Mantis will float, constantly shouting at players by name as they rack up damage on their foes or perish.
Microwave Room is a completely flat area. There is even a ceiling over the top of the hall, preventing players from KOing their foes upward. The catch, however, is that the room is covered in microwaves. The microwave chamber is the same size as the Mario Bros. stage, though it is much smaller vertically.
Mount Snakemore is the massive bow of the ship, and one of the most epic fighting grounds ever. Combatants duke it out on the stone heads of Solidus Snake, Solid Snake, Liquid Snake, and Big Boss. Each head is about the size of Giga Bowser. The carved trench coats of Solidus and Big Boss, as well as Liquid's chin, can be used as edges to grab on. There is a bottomless pit directly between Liquid Snake's head and Big Boss's.
Outer Tower Is the highest point of Outer Haven. It is placed between two smokestacks that stretch up off the screen, though these large obstacles can be destroyed with the right amount of pressure. The area is a recreation of the Shadow Moses Island stage from Brawl, only without the upper catwalk. In the background, Metal Gear RAY can be seen trying to destroy the S.S. Missouri. If neither Solid Snake nor Revolver Ocelot were chosen as characters, Old Snake and Liquid Ocelot can be seen in the background, slowly walking toward each other until one of them delivers a punch that knocks the other back. When Mantis appears to alter the stage, Liquid Ocelot will collapse with one last blow from Solid.

| Hazards on Stage |
Main Deck
There is a hallway directly down the middle of the boat. Occasionally, a FROG soldier may appear and throw a grenade into the center of the stage, dealing 8-10% damage with decent knockback. The grenades take a second or two to explode, much like Snake's hand grenades. Rarely, a single "moo"ing sound will pierce through the background music. At that point, a Gekko will drop down into the background and will attempt to kick anyone directly in front of it. The Gekko is about the size of the Halberd's Combo Cannon, and its feet are the size of Princess Peach. Any attack the Gekko lands will deal 20-27% damage with high knockback. After a single kick, the Gekko will "moo" again, then jump away.
Central Control Room
Rarely, Mantis will scream "BLACKOUT", causing the entire stage to go pitch black and the background music to stop, displaying a "Hideo 2" message in the top lefthand corner. This lasts for about six seconds.
Microwave Room
Every second, players will take 3% damage. Though the strength of their attacks will steadily grow weaker as the damage on them accumulates, the knockback for their attacks will also grow on their weakened opponents. For every one second a foe is in the microwave, they will be able to be hit 5% farther than they normally would, with twenty seconds in the microwave being able to deal twice the amount of knockback of a normal attack. Sometimes, electrified prongs will reach out from the wall of the chamber and attempt to shock players. Touching these will deal 25% damage with massive knockback.
Mount Snakemore
Occasionally, the wind will blow on the bow of the ship in the direction of Big Boss, throwing players toward the right with a gentle push.
