Brief Info on Stage The Great Sea is where the events of The Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass take place. During The Wind Waker, Link took off throughout many islands aboard the talking Hyrulian boat, the King of Red Lions. During Phantom Hourglass, Link was riding with Tetra until she was kidnapped by the demented dark being Bellum. A somewhat famous man named Linebeck then helped Link from their on out by providing him with another boat to travel the sea with. The Great Sea is home to many islands including the Link of that time's home place, Outset Island, the thriving business island (considered by many to be the 'HUB' of the game) Windfall Island, and the Forsaken Fortress, where Ganondorf once called home.
Layout of the Stage You start out on Tetra's Ship. There are three unbreakable and unpassable platforms. These platforms are laid out as her ship usually would be laid out. The somewhat long platform you start the fight on is the main deck. The two other platforms (which are very short and could only carry two characters at a time) are too high up for you to even triple jump up to them. They are the a fraction of the stern and a fraction of the bow of the boat. There are two options to get up to the other platforms if you absolutely must: flying or... climbing up the provided ladders. These platforms are ideal for throwing projectile items at opponents, just make sure one doesn't have the chance to get up the one you are on and ambush you! Cameos during your time on Tetra's Ship depend on how many times you have actually been on it during one battle. Gulls and Tetra's pirate crew can be seen in the background. The seagulls are obviously just flying in the sky, cawing, while Tetra's pirates are doing a number of different things. Two muscular ones are arm wrestling each other at a small, circular table, and Niko swings from a rope attached to the crow's nest every few seconds (which could be considered as a reminder of the beginning of The Wind Waker). Tetra can also be seen steering the ship near the very front of the stern if you pause the game and tilt the view towards that area. You are soon dropped off to your first destination, Outset Island. On this scaled down version of the island, the roofs of house serve as your only platforms. One house is located on the far right side of the island, one a few feet above the first house mentioned, one on the far left side of the island, and one a little to the right of the third house mentioned. Cameos on Outset Island are Link's Grandma, who comes out of her house and walks to Orca's a few times, Orca, who opens his door when Link's Grandma knocks and it and greets her in, Sturgeon, who makes a loud yelling sound when you hear a vase break in Orca's house (Sturgeon's house is located right on top of Orca's. They are brothers), and Aryll, who you can find looking at nearby seagulls with her telescope. Tetra's Ship will then come back to you and bring you to Windfall Island. Windfall Island's layout is even more basic than Outset Island. The main platform is of a long, grassy output. The four mills of a windmill being the sole passable platforms. There is also a small, wooden dock you can find in the foreground (but you cannot fight on it). There, you may see Linebeck's ship park, as well as Linebeck himself exiting it and walking to the bomb shop in the background. The third and final island you will be brought to is the Forsaken Fortress. Here, there are two sets of stairs (the one below going right and the one above going left) where you are dropped off and above both pairs of stairs is a small part of a large circular platform. There is a small patch of water to the left of the first flight of stairs. When you are on your way back to Outset Island from the Forsaken Fortress, you can see Tingle's Tower far in the background, with Tingle and his many counterparts shouting "Oi!" repeatedly. You can also see Beedle's ship making rounds around the tower. The process will then indoubtably repeat.
Hazards on the Stage On Tetra's Ship, some of the pirates may throw bombs at you that deal only 5-8% damage. At Outset Island, gusts of wind may blow from the left or the right and blow you clear to the other side of the island. At Windfall Island, the same hazard of Outset Island is present. Unlike Outset Island, however, is the fact that pigs may rampage across the main grassy platform forcing you to fight on the windmill for a few moments. At the Forsaken Fortress, there is a spotlight looking for any intruders. If it were to find anyone, a large bomb will be thrown indefinitely dealing 10-14% damage or a random Bokoblin or Moblin will be dispatched. A Bokoblin will hit whoever is spotted with its club dealing only 3-5% damage while a Moblin will punch at whoever is spotted to stun them and then hit them with its spear, dealing 13-17% damage.
