Brief Info On Character The End, also known as the "Ancient Sniper", is the oldest member of the Cobra Unit. He appears as one of the latter members of the Cobra Unit Naked Snake must kill during Operation Snake Eater. Born in the 1860's, he is over 100 years old by the time that the operation takes place, and is said to be the finest sniper in the world (due to having practically invented all sniping techniques). The End is a master of camouflage, and can actually become one with his surroundings. In fact, he can absorb energy from the sunlight to sustain him while in a forest, allowing him to remain in the same position for days, waiting for the opportune moment to strike. The End has a parrot that he keeps in combat with him, as he is very old and is prone to falling asleep. If the parrot is somehow killed, The End will become far more agressive, yet much less accurate. The End is famous for being able to be killed three different ways in Snake Eater. In addition to fighting him in combat, players may alternatively kill The End while he is being pushed in a wheelchair at an earlier point in the game. In addition, players may wait one week before fighting The End. When they return to the game, they will learn that The End has died of old age. The End's name represents the emotion he brings with him into battle, as do all the Cobra Units' names.
Method of Assistance The End will come out of his Assist Trophy on a wheelchair, sleeping. After five seconds, his parrot will fly to his shoulder and squawk something along the lines of, "Wake up Gramps!". The End will then raise and suddenly vanish. Nothing will happen for upwards of two minutes. After some time, the background will suddenly echo "Ennnnnnnnnnnnnd". Within the blink of an eye, a large laser will shoot from a random point on the stage, striking a random foe of the player who summoned The End. No matter what, the shot WILL hit, and will have a home run bat-like effect. The End will not shoot when a character is invincible by any means (including, but not limited to, recovering onto the stage, invincibility from a recovery platform, during a final smash, invincibility from a Starman, or invincibility frames from attacks like Ike's Aether or DK's Giant Punch), and will simply delay his shot until they are vonurable again. The End's attack does 20-40% damage. It is possible for The End to not shoot before time runs out or before a Stock match ends, so beware. Unlike other Assist Trophies, while The End is active, other Assist Trophies can be used and may appear. However, The End will not shoot while another Assist Trophy is active. In homage to Metal Gear Solid 3, if the game is paused for more than seven minutes, a codec message at the bottom of the screen will appear. One of Naked Snake's comrads will then inform an opponent of The End that he has died of old age when the game was paused. They will then insult said character, stating it was "one of the most dishonorable ways to win".
