Strong in Dessie's Name

A name? Just... A name? That's it? King? A name? As in the first name that mama and poppie make up? King? No matter how much Ron tried to move away from that in his mind, he couldn't. It was like looking at someone with a giant pimple or something that stuck out about them- You just couldn't ignore them. But in Ron's case, this was much more... Extreme than any normal person with that kind of problem. "O-Oh... umm... Okay I guess..." Ron said sadly, almost disappointed about King's answer, actually.

There was another reason King's name still stood in his mind, and Ron knew it. Just like he couldn't ignore the fact that King's name was indeed King, he couldn't just ignore Dessie's possible condition. But if he had something else that he couldn't ignore, maybe it'd tempararily neutralize the first thing that he couldn't ignore. To make things short and sweet the damn boy was trying to get Dessie off his mind through whatever means necessary. And right now, Ron was letting the topic of King's name die. Time to revive it... WAIT! NO! Don't say those words... They reminds me of Dessie. How about... Resurrected instead? Meh... Better.

"N-NOOO! That... but that... That doesn't make seeeeeeeeeeeense! I want an AAAAAAAANSWER! KING OF WHAAAAAAAAT?! Tell meeee!"

Once again King couldn't help but jump back at the rather abrupt and loud response. This...Ron kid was really beginning to creep him out. All he wanted to do was go about his business; however he wasn't exactly your everyday pocketbook loner or anything, he enjoyed a conversation every now and then. However, this citizen was just coming off as odd...and somewhat hostile too...

"W-Well, if you must know, it's a name I suppose I earned...I come from a place called Mimiga Village, and I was the leader of said village. Although..." He sighed. "...although I wasn't a very good one, I suppose, considering they're all dead now..." On this last part he somewhat trailed off, apparently Ron's odd way of speaking was indeed contagious...However, every word he said was still perfectly audible.

Excuses. From what Ron could tell, King had just used one right now. But unfortunately, it seemed that for once an excuse had worked, because the man had realized that he couldn't accuse him of lying and so the topic of King's name would indeed die afterall. But Ron was saddened much more because of something else. Something in King's excuse that broke his heart. Something that can be summed up by the word substitution.

Substitution, the act of replacing something or someone and putting them in the role of another. If Ron couldn't keep the topic of King's name alive long enough, he would need something else to substitute for the topic. WAIT I"M NOT DONE YET. Ron may have needed to substitute the current topic, true, BUT there was something else that his mind began to substitute. Something that disheartened him deeply: I wasn't a very good one, I suppose, considering they're all dead now. I suppose we all know where this is heading...

Substitute "I" with Ron, "one" with thief, husband, protector etc., and "they're all" with Dessie is. Ron wasn't a very good (husband), I suppose, considering Dessie is dead now. Any normal person would not have been able to make such a connection, but Ron was not that of a normal person. His mind was wrapped around Dessie and always would be, no matter how much he tried to change it. So now Ron would have to substitue each word all over again so it resembles something else... But what? The only 'dead' thing that Ron could think of was Dessie...

Bingo.

...And the people of Mimiga Village. Alrighty then, let's substitute again, shall we? I wasn't a very good one, I suppose, considering they're all dead now. Genius, eh?

"U-umm... Ok then... Umm... Your majesty.... umm... Well... What I mean is... Pleeeease... Noo... Don't say that word... Dead... NOOO! I said it... umm...please... But no, wait... Please... Tell me what happened."

King laughed. "Please, that whole 'your majesty' bit isn't needed. King will be fine."

"Also...if it's okay, I'd rather not talk about it. Let's just say I wasn't exactly the best at defending those who were close to me." He trailed off once again, his previously friendly face now turning sullen with reminiscence. "I'd appreciate it if you'd drop the subject."

Normally I'd think of a new topic to focus on in this post... But... Seems like King is a very substituting guy because everything he says Ron easily finds ways apply it to himself. But let's skip the whole explanation of substitution and get to the point: I wasn't exactly the best at defending those who were close to me. Now let's see what we can do... Add in a monkey... A carrot... Meh... Good enough... NOOO! WAIT! Don't forget the cape! Everything works when you have a cape!

Ron wasn't exactly the best at defending Dessie.

In an attempt to get that off his mind, Ron flipped the sentence back to what it previously was again, trying to remain on King's topic and not his own. And that's where a new problem revealed itself. I'd appreciate it if you'd drop the subject. Ohh... Not good. Dropping the subject would force Ron to return to his own tears. "Umm.... Please... No... Wait... Noo... STOP IGNOOOOOORING MEEEE! No... Please. I... I need to know... I... I need to know so the same thing doesn't happen again..."

"...Know what?" King cocked his head at Ron. He was really starting to act weird now, and it was really getting creepy. "What do you need to know, I mean? And so what doesn't happen again..."

He tried to ignore Ron's sudden outburst, but this strange person was really starting to come off as suspicious...
