Adeline took in a deep breath as she left her cabin. Even though they were still at port, she could smell the sea and she loved it. She couldn't wait until they were in open water. It was her favorite place to be. It was so calming, yet exciting. She smiled at the thought of it. Not only that, but she was finally going to see America.
At just 17 years of age, Adeline already had a great love of the sea, stemmed from her father. She was grateful that he had a job aboard this great ship so she could experience this. She walked out onto the promenade that lined the perimeter of the ship. The breeze blew her hair gently and it brought a stronger smell of the sea to her nose. Amazing.
She began walking around the ship. She had no particular destination. She had just settled her luggage into her room, and she decided to explore a bit. She was going to be very familiar with this ship since she was going to be on it so long. Addy figured she might as well get a head start at knowing where she was going.
The main deck wasn't terribly complicated, especially if you stayed on the promenade. She was very glad that her dad was an engineer, so the managed to get one of the second class rooms on the main deck. This way she could sneak out to see the ocean whenever she wanted and not have to worry about the stairway being closed off. She was disappointed that they couldn't get an outer room, but she would take what she could get.
Addy stopped and leaned against the rail. She was facing away from the dock and out to the sea. It wouldn't be long before they would be out there. People were brushing by her, but she barely noticed. All she could think about was this new journey she was embarking on.

A rather lively young woman bounded about the ship. It moved back and forth on the water, but there was no reason for her to be seasick. At least the salty-smelling winds of the sea made her smile even more, and made her even more excited about being able to be on a ship like this.
Elsie Coxe enjoyed her time on this ship. When she had boarded at Belfast and saw her room, she was taken aback. It was comfortable and lovely, and seemed to be way too high-class for a simple Irish lass like herself.
Catching Elsie's attention was a young girl who was walking slowly, taking a rather nice stroll. She didn't look to be rich like some of the others onboard. Judging from her clothing, she looked to be in the same class as Elsie. Still, Elsie made no assumptions as she walked near the girl and spoke to her, waving at her and giving her a hearty, yet thickly accented, "Hello!"

Adeline was rather startled when she heard someone say hello. She looked up and realized that the hello was aimed at her. She smiled at the woman standing before her. Addy stood up and moved away from the rail.
"Hello," Addy greeted back with a small wave. The woman had an Irish accent. That was fantastic. Addy loved meeting people from Ireland. "Beautiful day, isn't it?" Adeline commented as she motioned towards the sea. The breeze blew through her hair and tickled her neck. She shivered slightly, but it was a good shiver.
"Have you settled in?" she asked the woman conversationally. "I was unfortunate and got stuck with an inside room," Addy told her. She wasn't afraid to reveal her status. She figured if the woman where of a higher class, she would just end the conversation and walk away. "I am trying to enjoy as much of the sea as I can, hence being out here," she explained.

"I'm hoping to!" Elsie cheerfully responded. The young woman in front of her spoke with a very distinct English accent. It was nice, to be sure, even though she was among a wealth of people from England. She may even have come across a few Americans onboard - the Americans were ones that had the smart slang and other funny things that Elsie knew she just had to learn.
"You got an inside room? That's The Pits. I somehow got an outer room, though I'd imagine it would be pretty creepy at night!" Elsie added. "Besides, the Second Class rooms certainly seem to be almost way too nice for a girl like me!"
