Phillip Andrews had a passion for ships ever since he was a young boy. His father was a fisherman on small ships, but Phillip always loved going to the port to see the large cruise liners come in. Phillip dreamed of being aboard one of those ships. Not only that, but he dreamed of being captain.

As he grew older, he got jobs on ships that stayed around his home in Belfast, Ireland. By the time he was 40, he had worked his way up to the position of Officer on one of the cruise liners that went around Europe. He finally was able to take a trip across the Atlantic, and he knew what he wanted to do. He wanted to be captain of one of these marvelous ships that crossed the Atlantic.

During one of the cruises around Europe, Phillip’s daughter came with him. Aurora loved the ocean life as much as her father. While they were out to sea, Aurora was trying to look at the water below. Some how she managed to lean to far over and she went overboard. Phillip went hysterical. People thought that the ship had run her over and she drowned. He spent days in a life boat looking for her, but he never found her.

Mr. Andrews felt like his life was over. He was already a widow and now he had lost his only child. He decided to throw himself into what he had left. He became determined to be a captain of a powerful ship. He found as much money as he possible could and started his mission. He had many friends in the ocean liner business, and with their help he designed and put into motion the building of a brand new cruise liner. They made sure that this one was as safe as possible to make the journey back and forth across the Atlantic.

Finally, in 1927, the ship was completed. Mr. Andrews knew what the ship had to be called. He had to honor his daughter’s memory. Thus, the S.S. Aurora was born. It made its maiden voyage to America from England on August 24th, 1927. The voyage went off without a hitch. Mr. Andrews couldn’t have been more relieved. It has been making frequent voyages ever since. Many people are also frequent riders of the ship, for various reasons.

There is a large portrait of Aurora Andrews in the Captain’s quarters. Mr. Andrews thinks of her constantly when they are out to sea. The portrait is of her on the ship at dawn. Her favorite time of the day was night into dawn.

There is a rumor, however, that Aurora’s soul is in the ship. When the ship gets out to open sea, there are myths that magical things happen at dawn. People have not been specific as to what magical things they have seen, so the mystery remains.

What magical things will you encounter on your voyage?
