Name: Cole Ackart

Age: 34

Appearance: Standing at 5'10'' and with an average build, Cole is a man that can easily blend into a crowd. He has dark brown hair, narrow blue eyes, and a short, trimmed goatee. On the back of his left shoulder is a strange tattoo of what appears to be the veve of Baron Samedi. The way he dresses is rather simple, often favoring practicality over finer clothing. While he usually does a good job of hiding his Irish accent, it can still be detected whenever he gets excited or has had too much to drink.

Face Claim: Norman Reedus

Personality: Being a mercenary by trade, Cole considers himself a professional and would usually prefer to get straight to business rather than bother with any formalities. His past experiences have effectively worn him down to becoming a skeptic. He seems to have some trouble when it comes to trusting others and has little patience for religion. Interestingly, despite being a mercenary (and a cynic, by extension), Cole still adheres to a personal set of moral standards, limited as they may be. He'd typically refuse to kill any civilians, but he isn't above roughing someone up a bit to get what he needs. He's recently taken to heavy drinking and smoking, knowing that it's long-term effects on his health are effectively insignificant.

Powers (If Applicable): Cole has the unusual ability to resurrect himself from even the most grievous of wounds. While his body is by no means invulnerable, it does, however, restore itself every time that Cole effectively "dies". Without fail, Cole has repeatedly revived from being shot, stabbed, and even torn apart by explosions. The exact nature of this trait is unknown as there doesn't seem to be any biological reasons behind it. All that is known is that Cole claims that he was by no means born with such an ability.

Preferred Weapon(s):
Colt M1911

Equipment: Field kit, wrist watch, lighter, angle-head flashlight, flare gun.

Skills: Experienced Marksman; is capable of hitting small, moving targets at range with most firearms. Interrogation techniques are based around invoking fear and physical pain. Fighting style is very simplistic and often brutal, commonly targeting vulnerable parts of the opponent's anatomy to put a quick end to the confrontation.

History: Cole grew up in an orphanage in Southern Ireland and witnessed plenty of violence between the North and the South first-hand. Not taking much interest in neither the bible teachings given to him at the orphanage nor some of the peoples' talk of unifying Ireland, he instead kept to himself and did what was needed to get by. This often meant a long string of odd-jobs such as working as a farmhand, to even the occasional crimes.

Later in his life, Cole had met a man who identified himself simply as McClusky. The man had made an offer to Cole, sign up with the company that he represents and they'll train him to be a private contractor and send him on various assignments. Cole knew that McClusky was basically a recruiter for some mercenary group, but he couldn't deny that he was genuinely curious about that line of work. Cole agreed and soon signed up with him.

A few weeks later, Cole was sent to some farm out in the countryside. It was quite different from what he expected, but he could still see why such a location was chosen. It was miles from the nearest town, allowing the use of firearms to go unnoticed and the crops and livestock effectively eliminated any reason to go to any populated areas as they'd have plenty of food on hand. Cole wasn't the only one there. There were over a dozen other recruits who were also participating in the training, most of which was physical conditioning and firearms practice.

After the training, Cole and the recruits were sent on their first assignment in Congo, which was in the middle of what was called The Congo Crisis. Cole and his men were largely set to fight alongside the United Nations for the duration of the time he was there, but occasionally, they'd be sent as security forces in several cities. Cole saw a good deal of violence and even witnessed a few of his comrades being killed in the midst of it all. He was quick to adapt to it, however, as he soon stopped flinching at the sound of gunfire and quickly got over his hesitation of using his own weapon on others.

One mission, however, proved to be quite hard to forget. Intel reported that an enemy encampment was located in the jungle just a few kilometers South of their position. Cole's group was broken off from the Belgium soldiers and were assigned to assault the camp and kill all hostiles. After a couple of days of trekking through the jungle, they've managed to reach the location of their target. However, the encampment in question was actually more akin to a village, and was even populated with women and children. There were some men armed with rifles, but there were too few for the place to be considered an actual threat. After calling in to report back their findings, they soon received an order to carry out the attack in the hopes that the collateral damage would also effect the enemy's morale.

As they were ordered, the men prepped their weapons and moved into position around the village. A strong sense of reluctance weighed down Cole's arms as he forced himself to should his rifle. Moments later, the team leader gave the signal to open fire. The collective gunfire from their weapons tore through the huts and sheet metal shacks as if they were hardly there. The few guards that managed to fire back were quickly taken out. At some point in the assault, one of the mercs on the team had discovered a weapons cache and rigged it with explosives. The resulting blast destroyed a large chunk of the village and set fire to the surrounding buildings and trees. Cole could only gaze in horror of the aftermath of their attack. The bodies of men, women and children alike were strewn across the burning, crumpled remains of their home. All Cole could hear at that point was the sound of flames and the distant screams that were soon silenced by a gunshot.

After a couple of years, Cole had finally made his way back home in Southern Ireland. Despite being the same since he had left, he couldn't help but notice that everything had seemed different now. It wasn't too much longer before he ran into McClusky again. The man had seemed genuinely surprised at Cole's progress (let alone his survival) since they last met and offered him a higher paying position with the company. However, Cole had no intention of going back to declined and instead went looking for new work. He had soon found a job in Haiti, to protect a businessman who was apparently being pressured into making certain "donations" that he refused to pay and thus feared for the safety of himself and his family. One of Cole's chief responsibilities in this job was the protection of both the businessman, and his wife and daughter. Despite never liking civilians being involved with his work, Cole took the job both for the generous pay and to sort of make up for his time spent as a mercenary.

The job started out easy enough. Go where the person he's protecting goes, keep said person in his line of sight, and keep an eye out for any suspicious activity from anyone nearby. Though the Tonton Macoute were a police force, they've built up a strong reputation for their kidnapping and terrorizing of people that stood against President Duvalier. Unfortunately for Cole, his client was one such person. He had failed to mention to Cole who exactly he had refused to give money to, and as such, inadvertently put everyone's life in danger. Not knowing what he was up against, the upcoming attack had caught him completely unprepared.

In the middle of June, his client's home was suddenly attacked . Gunshots were the only warning Cole had before he had realized what was going on. Several armed men had broken into the house and seemed to be searching for Cole's benefactor, killing the servants along the way. Cole retaliated and fired at the men with his sidearm, killing one man and wounding another before he was pinned down by their returning gunfire. Fortunately, the client's house was quite large and Cole knew the layout of the place quite well. He had managed to outmaneuver the men and flank them a number of times due to this advantage. Despite this, with only a pistol at hand, there was still little he could do to fight against the automatic weapons the men had brought with them. Even more, he couldn't prevent them from reaching the second story where the client and his family were hiding. Before long, Cole could hear some screaming and shouting alerting him of the danger they're in.

Quick bouts of gunfire would keep him from reaching the stairs to come to their aid. The men had finally managed to trap him into a room with the only exit blocked off by a barrage of bullets. He didn't even have time to think of a way out when he heard a metallic knocking sound on the floor. One of the men had thrown a grenade into the room he was hiding in. Fighting off the shock, Cole quickly took cover behind an overturned table. The improvised cover had taken most of the blast, but a few pieces of shrapnel had still found their target. The silence after the blast had told him that the men were now gone. Cole forced himself onto his feet and searched the house for any survivors.

Most of the servants were killed in the attack, save for a few that had successfully managed to stay out of sight. One survivor that sparked an interest was one of the attackers that Cole had shot earlier in the attack. Cole took the man to an isolated room and bound him to a chair. He was determined to make the man tell him where his allies had taken his client. He remembered his training back at the farm. They had taught him how to force information out of his enemies, how to balance out physical damage with the mental, how to break down the captive's will, and how to cause as much pain as physically possible. Several minutes later, the man, now short an ear and about a pint of blood had finally told Cole where his client and his family were taken.

Following the directions he had gotten through the interrogation, Cole drove to a small farm a a few miles East of the city. This time however, he was ready for a firefight, armed with a rifle and ammo taken from the corpses of the attackers from the house. Sneaking up to the farmhouse, he could see a couple men through a window and recognized one of them from the attack at the house. Moving around to the back of the house, he entered through the backdoor. Finding the men he saw earlier, he killed them both with a burst from the rifle. Hearing the gunshots, more men came to investigate and were quickly killed. Cole searched the house and was able to find his client's wife and daughter, but the man in question was nowhere to be seen. The distant sound of yelling had served as a warning to Cole of the remaining threat of the men outside. They were most likely inside the barn during the time that Cole had arrived and had heard the following gunshots. If those men were inside the barn, then there was a good chance that's where his client was taken as well. Telling the woman and child to hide, Cole snuck back outside and made his way to the barn.

As he ran to the barn, he would hear the occasional gunshot coming from the men chasing after him. Cole would only respond by firing back at them with his pistol without daring to stop and properly aim. With the severe lack of cover, he needed to get inside that barn as quickly as possible. As he reached the barn, he could hear the bullets whizzing by him and strike at the wood of the building in front of him. He quickly stepped inside and closed the doors behind him. His first step of action was to find a place where he could defend from, but turning around, he froze when he saw what lied before him. In front of what appeared to be some sort of shrine, the corpse of Cole's client was lying on the ground, with his throat cut open. Suddenly, some movement in his peripheral vision caught his attention. Before he could act, a man with white skull facepaint had forced a dagger into his chest. Cole felt the strength leave his legs as he fell over and slumped up against a wall. He continued to stare at the knife in his chest as everything started to go black.

In the darkness, he could hear a strange voice that he couldn't recognize speak to him. “You are a very interesting man, Mr. Ackart. There are not many that could have come as far as you. To do what you have done and yet still remain themselves. I am curious as to what more you could do if I simply let you stay for a while longer. I expect many things from you, Mr. Ackart. But for now, you have work to do.” As the voice started to fade away, so did the darkness. The dagger was no longer lodged in his chest and he could clearly see the man that had stabbed him. The other men from outside had apparently found the woman and child and had brought them to the barn to experience the same fate as their husband/father. Forgoing any tactics and planning, Cole drew his pistol and emptied his clip on the men. He then reloaded and continued firing at their now motionless bodies. When he was finally able to collect himself, he went over to the woman and child and made sure that they were alright. Cautious of any remaining enemies in the area, he led them out of the barn and back to his car.

Cole was never certain of what had happened that day. He had heard stories that the Tonton Macoute had practiced voodoo but had always passed it off as just stories. However, one thing was certain, his memories of that shrine were still just as clear to him as the moment when he first saw it. Deciding to finish his remaining business, Cole took it upon himself to make sure that his client's family had safely gotten out of the country. His wife had made sure that Cole was rewarded for coming back for them, despite not being able to save her husband. Not wanting to break his professional attitude, Cole accepted it with mixed feelings.

Finished with Haiti, he decided to move on to America. He didn't have any real plans in mind. All that he knew was that he was no longer capable of dying. He spent a little over a year wandering around, playing vigilante and doing things that would otherwise kill another man. With his recklessness, it wasn't a surprise that SPECTRE was able to track him down and make a deal with him.
