Do not ask which creature screams in the night,
Do not question who waits for you in the shadow.
It is my cry that wakes you in the night,
And my body that crouches in the shadow.

We need a pistol and a rifle. A Crowbar is also good. The list above has to many heavy weapons. Speed is your best defense.

a crowbar is good, however the weapons i have listed above are not to be carried at all times. Pistols are backup weapons only, and are not to be used as primaries. An semi-automatic rifle is our best bet for the rifle category, nothing with auto-capabilities. The shotgun is more for defense at the base, however two or three can be carried with limited ammo in a scouting/retrieval/etc group, due to it's reliability and stopping power. A crowbar is the best melee weapons in the hands of an amateur fighter with little/no skill with specifics. The shield, explosives, and heavier armor is more for defense at the base. A small shield can be used by patrols, just in case. The dragon skin is a very lightweight material, using ceramic discs, and is very, very tough (It's stronger and lighter than kevlar). The knife is a lightweight and essential tool to bring along, you will find many uses for it. The swords are more for those with skill. If i can convince "Them" to join our group, then not counting me, we will have the worlds most powerful, dangerous, and destructive group of swordsmen. If we can procure enough swords to provide a sufficient number of backups, in case of breakage, then we'll be set. These 5 people, including myself, could lay waste to an entire army of zombies with nothing but a few swords (provided, we have sufficient protection from Solanum)

Stealth > guns

Once your heard more zombies will come. Guns should be used as a last resort only.

Guns will be one of our most effective weapons against zombies. Melee weapons are the most important decision, however close-combat by non-specialists should be avoided (ref: guide). If we all rely too heavily on just melee weapons, then we'll get exhausted too fast. Silencers for the pistols and rifles are usually easy to come by, and should be used on every weapon. Crossbows are another option, being silent and powerful, but they take too long to reload in a tight situation. Yes, guns should be avoided where unnecessary, however many situations require their usage. With the addition of a silencer, then the guns will become our deadliest long-rage weapons against the zombies. Snipers as well. Put a silencer on a sniper, and we have an elite defense. On a side note, nearby zombies will be drawn by the moan of the original attacker(s), so additional noise isn't too much of an issue.

Well guns are louder than a moan. If a group of 5 or so wanders around it would be best to sneak up on them and bash them in the head before they start moaning.

there's roughly a 10% chance of that succeeding. Zombies have an incredible sense of hearing and smell. They'd be able to detect you coming from a hundred feet away. That and that fact that you'd need a damn hard bash in the first place, to destroy the brain, which is difficult considering the thickness and strength of the human skull. Hence my other suggestions.

Hooray for fake percents. I'd rather try than wasting rounds and letting every zombie within 10 blocks come straight for you.

And no, they don't have any better hearing or smell than a human does. They just rely on it more.

Actually the percent is based on all the factors. It's not perfect , hence why i said roughly, however it is still based on general math. There's nothing wrong with attempting something, but as the saying goes: Before you attempt to beat the odds, make sure you can survive the odds beating you. Not to say that a beating would be ineffective or impossible, but a silenced gun, or other ranged weapon (even a longer melee weapon) would be a safer bet than clubbing it in the head. As for their hearing and smell, yes it is at the humans level, however we are sight based. Zombies rely on all their senses as we do not. Therefore they can hear and smell better than we can. (reference chapter 1, section 1, subsection A)

I'm pretty sure you can purchase silencers at a local gun shop. If not, they are very readily available to order over the internet. According to the National Firearms Act of 1934: Silencers can be legally sold, owned and used in the state of Wisconsin.

I've been studying the guide, and for home defense, it calls for the following:

--Rifle: 500 rounds
--Shotgun (12-gauge): 250 shells
--Pistol (.45 caliber) 250 rounds
--Silencer (rifle)
--Silencer (pistol)
--Heavy crossbow (n lieu of silencers): 150 bolts
--Telescopic sight (rifle)
--Night scope (rifle)
--Laser sight (rifle)
--Laser sight (pistol)
--Katana sword (over 60.6 cm)
--Wakizashi (30.3 - 60.6 cm) or other short sword
--Two knives with straight 6-8 inch blades
--Hand hatchet

Personal note: All katanas and short blades should be made from heat tempered *Carbon Spring Steel* NOT STAINLESS. if you ever see the words "stainless steel" for a sword, immediately discard all thoughts of usage.
