Okay, so I got my lazyness out and decided to write a very basic YY-CHR tutorial. What do you need? YY-CHR - Basic tool to edit the graphics. It should be in English. YY-CHRe (Alternative YY-CHR in SMWC just scroll and search for YY-CHR) Lunar Magic - Yep, the level editor. Lunar Magic SNES emulator - I recommend ZSNES ZSNES emulator A clean SMW Rom - SMW Rom Getting started Once you have all the stuff, I'll recommend creating a separate folder with all this stuff. Once you have all things in it, just open the SMW Rom and make a Save State in the first level. It should create a *.srm and a *.zst file. I recommend create a folder named Saves into the Main Folder. Second step is opening the clear SMW Rom in Lunar Magic. Then go to Options>Use Joined GFX Files. Be sure that's activated. What it does is put all the Graphics in a same file, so to start out, it's easier to mess around with it. ALTERNATIVE If you don't use Joined GFX (recommended) you get a lot of files with different graphics. It's easier to edit something more specific. All is the same as using Joined GFX, it simply is more organized. Now, I'll give a huge THANK YOU to CamTheMan, who posted a list with the contents of each file. Check the list! Also he says that the credit for the list goes to mvent2. Now continue with the tutorial ![]() Then in Lunar Magic, at the top of it, Press: The Red Mushroom - Quick Extract GFX to Rom The Blue Mushroom - Quick Extract ExGFX to Rom When you press the blue mushroom a message box will appear telling that there's no ExGFX into the Rom, just press OK, it's normal. When you have this done, It will create two new folders: -Graphics (contains AllGFX.bin) -ExGraphics (empty) Then open YY-CHR, just go to open and choose the AllGFX.bin file, in Graphics. It will look really wierd, don't worry. Go at the bottom of YY-CHR, and you will see a line that says 4BPP MSX (/Genesis). Click on it and change it to 4BPP SNES. It will look a little better, but it still looks strange. At the top right of the YY-CHR screen there's a button that says Load emulator's state. Once you press it, go into the Saves folder and choose the *.zst file. Now it looks almost perfect. Finally, adjust the color pressing the two arrow at the bottom right of YY-CHR. Finally, choose whatever you want (p.e. The P-Switch). Edit it with the tools at the right of YY-CHR. Once you have it edited, just save with YY-CHR and you can close it. Now open again your SMW Rom with LM, and this time press: The Green Mushroom - Quick insert GFX to Rom Congratulations! You're done! Now if it doesn't work at the first try reloading the level, and insert the P-Switch sprite, it will be changed. Hope it helped, any tip to improve it will be accepted, also feel free to ask anything you want. ~b111k Btw, this is my first tut, I think it's kinda good.. PS: GREAT it only allows you to have 10 images in the post.... Moar PS: After lots of editings and messing up myself I think it finally works perfect!

Nvm, I've solved all the problems alone, if you want more in-depth information about custom graphics, I'm not your man I just cover the basics..But, again, I'll answer any question about the tut. Edited by b111k, Jun 23 2010, 10:14 AM.

The drama police; you make drama, I'll call the Bear on you

Since I can't find much wrong with the instructions themselves, I'll be picky about grammar/spelling. 1- It's ZSNES, not ZNES. 2-You forgot the "tom" of bottom. 3-Personally, I recommend against using the joined Gfx, however, to start out, it's ok, I suppose. Overall, not a bad tutorial. |

Corrected my fails, thanks =) Yes, I know it's better not using Joined Gfx, but IMO, if it's the first time you start with it, you can make some fast tests and stuff like that. My objective was giving a basic idea and showing that editing graphics is not that hard. |

Why not use joint gfx, alongside separate gfx? The joint effects help you find the separate gfx, enabling you to use the separate gfx for exgfx! ^^ |

Edited the post about what to do without Joined GFX. Yep really it's easier :$, but I learned with joined GFX and did the tut with joined GFX, because I didn't have an awesome guide with the content of all filed. Thanks CamTheMan
