I catch fish.
You need:

  • Lunar Magic.
  • A SMW rom file to work with.
  • 5 minutes to play around.
  • Patience to look at bad quality images and read bad english.

Right click on a image and open it in a new tab/new window to get a bigger picture.

First open 16x16 editor:

I'm going to use the vine as an example, so left click on it, and it will pop up under the tile map:

allready now you can flip it on the x and y axis.

Let us open "edit 16x16 attributes":

1: here you can see what tile number that is used in the 8x8 square upper left, upper right, lower left and lower right. And you can change em into any tiles you want.

2: Here you can set what pallete you want your tile to use.

3: Here is the setting that chooses if sprites is infront or behind the tile.

4: This is the hex value of the tile, if you change this number it will behave as the new tile.

The next thing we will look at is the 8x8 part in 16x16 editor:

If you left click at one of the four corners in the picture marked it will show only the 8x8 part below. you can flip the x and y axis for only this part if you want to.

Now we will open the "edit 8x8 attributes":

Here are some options that also are in "edit 16x16 attributes", but theese are more usful if you use custom gfx or original (self made) gfx. The options do exatly the same as in "edit 16x16 attributes" but only for the 8x8 part you have selected.

Now we are going to insert the tile so we can use it in a stage:

Go some pages down. (close the attributes menu and press down on the arrow keys, page 2 IS THAT STAGE ONLY, page 3-F is every stage, page 10 and up is for BG.)
right click on a open space and it will be entered. now press F5, F7 and F9 and click yes on the menus that pops up.

now you can paste it into the stage from the "add objects menu" from "direct map 16 access" and go to the page you entered it.

There you go. happy tile making.

Dang, I really needed this when I was learning XD But I'm sure all the beginners will love this small but clear tutorial, plus map16 has endless possibilities.
