Well, I've been thinking about doing little one-shots about my characters for a little while now. I did this one on a whim/muse. :B I dunno if any of you know this, but the Twins and Bluejay have some history together... and it seems that they've finally found some closure.
Listened to Fuckin' Pefect by P!nk while writing this.
Spoiler: click to toggle Bluejay frowned, unsettled by the mear sight of them. She didn't know how they'd found her. Part of her wanted to run - just like everytime before. Even more, she didn't know why they kept coming back.
Why did they keep searching for her, when she had made things so clear? Why did these two want to keep it up, when it only brought more heartache?
"Come on," the one said softly, nodding his head toward a near-by bench. Just by the tone, she could easily assume that it was Elias, and that the other twin was Emmerich.
When she didn't move right away, Emmerich took a few steps closer. Out of instinct, she immediatly took a step back as her heart rate increesed.
"Come on," Elias repeated again, and outstretched his hand.
"Please Bluejay," Emmerich pleaded, copying his twin's movements.
Bluejay took another step back, and they took two steps forward, hands still outstretched. Her mind screamed at her to turn around and leave. To just run. She couldn't take this - not again - but her body wouldn't comply with anything more than a snail's pace.
To make matters worse, they were frowning. Never before had she seen them look so sad and so pleading, and it renched at her heart. Tears were whelling up in her eyes, but she still refused to go down this road with them again. Not again.
She took another step back. Emmerich clenched his hand into a fist and Elias' shoulders slumped, as if defeated.
"<i>Please</i>," they pleaded together. The raw emotion eminating from the simple word caused her tears to fall, unwarrented. Bluejay shook her head as her resolve waned. Never before had she seen them be so open with their emotions, and it was managing to break her heart in two.
"Why?" She croaked, unable to keep her voice steady, "<i>why</i>?"
They dropped their arms, and looked at each other for one long, morose moment, before looking back to her. Emmerich spoke, barely above a whisper, "... You know why."
A sob escaped her, and she shook her head again, despite it being a fruitless fight any longer. She knew she couldn't run this time. She couldn't bring herself to even move now as the tears swelled from her eyes.
"But I hurt you!" Bluejay choked, "H-how can you..." She sobbed and attempted to wipe away her tears, but her efforts were thwarted as more fell. She couldn't understand them - not then, and certainly not now. Not ever.
This time, the twins closed the gap between them. She couldn't bring herself to move even an inch away as they tugged her close and wrapped their arms around her.
"Because..." Emmerich started, after pressing a few kisses to her forehead.
Elias wiped some Bluejay's tears away before softly kissing her cheek. "We love you," he finished for his brother, "and we'll always come for you, no matter how many times you push us away."
Shaking her head again, Bluejay let loose another sob, and a casscade of tears fell down her cheeks. No, she couldn't believe this. This wasn't right. Why were they so forgiving, and of all people, why did they choose her? What about her could possibly be worth fighting for? It wasn't right - Bluejay would have never forgiven someone if they'd done what she had done to them.
"Hey," Emmerich said sharply, catching her attention. He was shaking his head, like he knew exactly what she was thinking. "Don't you think that. Not ever, 'eah?"
Bluejay glanced away, but Elias took ahold of her chin and turn her gaze back towards them. They stared at her silently, not saying a word, but the message was in their eyes, clear as day.
"We love you," Elias stated, pointedly, and Emmerich followed up with, "And you're fucking perfect to us." Her heart swelled, despite her anxiety, at their statement. She didn't understand - she couldn't understand. Bluejay didn't believe that she ever would, but... maybe she didn't have to. She couldn't form any words, and so, as another sob escaped her lips, she managed a simple nod and a near smile. They returned the almost smile with their own, full, soft smiles and then wrapped their arms around her tightly, as if to say that they'd never let her go again, anyways.
